30. The Collective Disconnection from Our Bodies and Its Impact on Our Births
I want to dive into an important topic with you today - the collective disconnection from our bodies, and how it’s radically affecting our birth experiences. This is something I see firsthand as a body worker who works with women from conception through postpartum, and into motherhood. We’ve gone most of our lives being disconnected from our bodies, and I recently even experienced this myself (what I shared in my previous episode). We must find a new balance with ourselves, so we can come home to ourselves and truly connect with our inner wisdom and spirituality!
In this episode about the collective disconnection from our bodies and its impact on our births, I’m talking about:
- Having difficulty being fully present with our thoughts and emotions, and how somato emotional release can help
- The role that trauma can play in the disconnection from our bodies
- Common phrases and scenarios regarding emotions that many of us have experienced since childhood
- The role our nervous system plays when it comes to protecting us
- Why we (as women) don’t truly feel safe in our bodies, and how this can affect our birth experiences
- 5 tools to help you ‘come home’ and find safety in your body again
