# Episode 76 Reclaim Your Vitality: How Peptides Can Transform Your Health During Perimenopause and Menopause

[00:00:00] Welcome back to The Rich Fit and Happy podcast that helps vibrant, powerhouse women like you reclaim your energy, feel youthful again, and thrive in your forties and fifties and beyond. I'm your host, crystal O'Connor health coach. Hormone whisperer, an unapologetic believer in women rewriting the rules of aging.

[00:00:20] So today we're gonna dive into something I'm really excited to talk about because I used them. I've been experimenting with them and I have feedback to give. They are called peptides. So you might have heard them or heard this term floating around in wellness circles. But if you're wondering what peptides actually are and how they can work wonders for you.

[00:00:40] During perimenopause and menopause, then you're in the right place. We're gonna, and this is also for men as well, so it's not just for ladies, but I know that most of my listeners are. So we're gonna break it down so that you can understand how these powerful little compounds can help you feel like your [00:01:00] best self.

[00:01:00] Again, love to talk about longevity and feeling youthful again, because there's really. Nothing like it and aging. It is not always fun, right? The aches, the pains, and it's always something stopping you from doing what you love. And so we're going to turn that back on. So let's just talk about what they are.

[00:01:22] First of all, what are peptides? So in simplest terms, peptides are chains of amino acids. So these amino acids are the building blocks of proteins in your body. So you might be wondering what's so special about peptides? Here's the thing. Your body already produces peptides naturally, and that's important to know.

[00:01:41] They're essential for a range of functions like metabolism, muscle growth, immunity, and hormone regulation. But when we hit midlife, especially during perimenopause and menopause, so that. About forties and fifties, our body's production of certain peptides and hormones start to [00:02:00] decline. That's where peptide therapy comes in.

[00:02:02] By introducing specific peptides into your routine, you're essentially replenishing what's lost, helping your body stay balanced, strong and resilient. And I'm not just talking about feeling better in your energy levels. It's about feeling like yourself again with a youthful vibrancy. That may have started to fade in the past few years, now you might be wondering, how do peptides work? Let's talk about that. Peptides sends signals to your cells, your tissues, and your organs to encourage specific functions like boosting energy, promoting healing, and supporting skin elasticity, and even optimizing hormones. So during perimenopause and menopause, we lose some of those key hormones and peptides step in to support the body in a way that helps you feel strong.

[00:02:57] Youthful and empowered. So [00:03:00] I tend to. You'll probably hear me if you've ever heard me before, talk about how confidence is lowered. Our confidence dips and our confidence sometimes can just dissipate to nothing in our forties and fifties, and we might not know what's really going on. And I'm telling, that's why I say the word empowered here in this context.

[00:03:20] Empowered and confidence go hand in hand. So let's talk about the top peptides that can be game changers For women in midlife, these are the ones that can help you feel like you, again, energized, healthy, and ready to take on whatever comes your way. I. First, let's talk about BPC 1 57. So this peptide is fantastic for inflammation and tissue repair.

[00:03:42] So during menopause, many women experience joint pain and muscle soreness and even inflammation in the body. So BPC 1 57 helps to reduce that inflammation promotes healing and speeds up muscle recovery. By the way, lemme just throw this in there, the loss of [00:04:00] estrogen after menopause. Is the loss of estrogen promotes inflammation.

[00:04:07] So estrogen actually supports the body and helps, it helps inflammation stay down, which we all know that chronic inflammation and inflammation in general promotes chronic illness. And so estrogen can be really helpful. So when we lose that. We can get it back by using BPC 1 57. So if you've been struggling with aches and pains due to lower estrogen or just aging, this peptide can help keep you moving without discomfort.

[00:04:43] Let's get to one of my favorites, and that is CJC 1295. So I had an experience with this too and noticed it right away. When I first took it I felt a flushing in my face, I was really almost concerned about that. I [00:05:00] hadn't expected that, and that's connected to histamine and it's nothing. But I've had mostly really good results with CJC 1295.

[00:05:11] It's basically all about growth hormone, so it's not a growth hormone, but it promotes. Growth hormone. So lemme just give you the backstory on growth hormone. As we age, our growth hormone levels naturally declines, and this can lead to reduced muscle mass, slower metabolism, and lower energy levels. But cjc 1295 stimulates your body to release more growth hormone, helping you maintain muscle burn fat more efficiently, and retain what energetic.

[00:05:46] Feeling that you used to have. So it's a key player in reversing some of the effects of aging, and that is why I like it. And I did absolutely [00:06:00] get a better workout when I took it. I got better sleep and I really don't struggle with sleep anymore. I chose hormone replacement therapy, which replaced estrogen and.

[00:06:12] I don't have problems sleeping anymore at all. However, I did notice that I fell asleep faster. So I'm just throwing that out there because it is something that I experienced when I took it. And then I wanna just share a little bit more here. I took a a class on CJC one 1295. And one of the things that.

[00:06:39] I want to share here is some other facts.

[00:06:51] Okay, so describe as a peptide, CJC 1295 is beneficial for enhancing the [00:07:00] lean muscle mass, like I had mentioned, and then athletic performance. And it what, which is exactly why when I worked out I could work out harder, longer, and I didn't feel as sore afterwards. Into the next day. It helps with fat metabolism and tissue repair, and that's why, so it consists of 29 amino acid and it's an in a sequence.

[00:07:25] So these are blockchain amino acids, so particularly effective. This peptide, CJC 1295 is for individuals over 40 because it helps combat the natural decline of muscle mass, which happens as we age and increase in fat. So it helps with the increase in fat. It doesn't cause increase in fat. It helps with the increase of fat around the midsection.

[00:07:55] Not as potent as other compounds for fat loss. [00:08:00] Cjc 1295 aids in fat metabolism, which typically slows down with age. It contributes to increased bone density and skin elasticity due to its effects on certain biochemical pathways, and it's recommended for those using weight loss peptides. So if you're using tirzepatide it's.

[00:08:20] Recommended for use of that so that you're not losing muscle particularly useful for adults entering menopause perimenopause due to its supportive properties in maintaining that lean muscle mass. So in terms of the group classification, this peptide is categorized as a secreted gog, which helps stimulate the release of growth hormones, which is the whole.

[00:08:43] Purpose of this really because growth hormones are so powerful it does tend to enhance sleep. So I had already given you my feedback initially when I started, when I introduced this peptide. It increase, it increases growth hormone production [00:09:00] significantly, by the way, 200 to a thousand percent compared to natural production.

[00:09:06] So it enhances insulin like. Growth factor from the liver. Just so you know, this isn't a new discovery. Peptides have been studied since the early 20th century with insulin being the first discovered in 1921, and it's been shown to improve metabolic health markers such as fasting glucose levels A1C and fasting insulin.

[00:09:32] And it offers the anti-aging effects, like improved skin elasticity and bone density. It's actually been used in cancer, so it's not recommended, or, excuse me. It's, I need to get that out. It's actually been tested. With regard to cancer, it's not recommended for ca cancer patients as it can actually stimulate growth, which could potentially exacerbate cancer [00:10:00] or tumor growth.

[00:10:00] It doesn't cause cancer. That is not what I said. I'm just saying it's not recommended. So see your doctor if you have had cancer or tumors. Before using this lifestyle integration, it emphasizes the importance of integrating peptides with a healthy lifestyle. So one of the things about CGC 1295 is you're not gonna get as, you're not gonna get the results that you're really looking for.

[00:10:24] Without that, the healthy lifestyle, come on, if you are not willing to change your lifestyle a bit. And get that exercise and get that sun and start lifting weights, then why use this? So I want you to really think about that before you go throwing your money out the window and using this thinking it's not working because you are you are not willing to put in some other effort and therefore diluting its results.

[00:10:58] It is also important, I'm just [00:11:00] gonna say, so in that lifestyle, the health healthy lifestyle, I'm referring to, getting the proper protein intake is important and then getting enough sleep and making that a priority. So lemme just throw in a recommended dosage so that you have an idea. So it's recommended to be taken 30 minutes before bed to align with the body's natural growth hormone production peak.

[00:11:21] The cycling of it. Is suggested to include one month on, one month off, or a few months on, and then a few months off. So I have done the one month on and one month off variation. Some people actually do three three to four days a week, and then. Three days off. So there are a couple of different ways that you can do that, but I think that I think that's all I wanted to say with regard to CJC.

[00:11:57] Okay. Let's move on to the third one I [00:12:00] wanted to mention, and that is thine or thymosin, excuse me. Thy thymosin is I think of the proper way to pronounce it. Beta four. Thymosin Beta four. This one's particularly helpful for healing. And tissue regeneration. And if you've noticed that your body takes longer to recover from exercise or if you're dealing with skin sagging or scarring, thine beta four is your go-to.

[00:12:23] I don't know which is better for skin CJC 1295 or thine. I am gonna go with thine. From what I'm learning and reading. So it helps repair tissue, maintain skin elasticity, and an even assist in muscle recovery, but not quite like CJC from what I'm hearing. If your skin's starting to lose that youthful bounce, or if you've had an injury that's taking its sweet time to heal thine or excuse me, thymosin, I just keep mispronouncing it.

[00:12:55] Thymosin beta four can help to accelerate the process. Okay, so the fourth [00:13:00] peptide I wanted to mention is Mel melanin. Melanin two is a peptide that increases melanin production. It's got the word tan in it for a reason. It actually can help you gain a tan. So this peptide increases melanin production, which can be amazing for skin health.

[00:13:19] So as we age, our skin changes things like dryness, wrinkles, and a loss of that glow that can happen more often. And so Melanotan helps to maintain that glow and even offer some protection with UV damage. So if you wanna keep your skin. Looking youthful, vibrant, protected. This peptide can give your skin a boost.

[00:13:39] I have not tried it, but I want to. So if you have tried it yourself, go into after you try it, or if you have tried it before, you've gotten good results, you notice it, please go to my comments and let me know. I would love to hear from you. I'm gonna hit on the last one [00:14:00] here, and that's PT 1 41.

[00:14:02] This peptide is all about boosting libido. So during menopause, many women notice a decrease in sexual desire and intimacy. And PT 1 41 works by activating the brain's sexual arousal pathways, helping you rediscover that spark. So whether you're looking to improve your intimate relationships or just feel more connected to your body's natural desires.

[00:14:26] PT 1 41 can help you bring your libido back to life. I have not used this. Again, if you have, and you've gotten good results, I know it's very popular. I've heard really good things about it, let me know. And then write it in the comments. So let's talk about how you can actually use peptides.

[00:14:47] Typically, peptides are administered via subcutaneous injections, and not everybody's all gung-ho for that, but I've been doing it and if I can do it, anyone can do it. It's doesn't even hurt. So it might sound [00:15:00] intimidating, but it's not. The needles are tiny, and most people find that they can easily administrate, administer the injections themselves at home, no problem.

[00:15:08] The dosage and frequency will depend on the specific peptide that you are using in your individual needs. And so generally speaking, peptides are taken anywhere. From daily to a few times a week, and you'll be guided by a healthcare professional if that's where you're getting them. If you are going to use my rec, I buy mine online now.

[00:15:29] I did used to get them from a doctor I live in the Naples area and went through a concierge doctor that. Charged an outrageous amount of money. So I'm just gonna throw that in there and let you know that you can get them from the links that I put in the show notes. And then I will say that the particular company that I ordered them from did a fantastic job of answering my questions because you're going to have to, it'll come in a powder form when you get the bottles.

[00:15:59] In this little [00:16:00] vial you'll notice that it's got. Powder inside a little tiny a dose of powder, so it's not like full of powder, but you're going to actually order bacteria, static water to inject into that vial. So you're gonna put about two milliliters of bio, excuse me, bacteria static water into the vial of powder, and that's how they can preserve it, because you're gonna wanna refrigerate.

[00:16:30] After you inject it with water and then you're going to want to use it within about 30 days. So each little vial that you buy, and I thought I would just throw that in there as a helpful tip. So here's the thing, I wanna wrap this up and I want you to go to the show notes and look over them and decide if you wanna start with peptides and start a longevity.

[00:16:56] A longevity ritual for yourself. Thank you for joining me [00:17:00] on yet another episode of Rich Fit and happy. I hope you're feeling empowered and excited to take your health into your own hands and with help of peptides. And remember, you're in control of your wellness and the best is yet to come. Until next time, keep making waves, ladies, and go to the show notes and download a free PDF where I put.

[00:17:23] Several more peptides that I've done some searching on and didn't add into this episode, but you can download them on the P on A PDF. So look in the show notes for that, the downloadable and exchange for your email. I'll give that to you. Thank you everybody, and leave me a comment or a a review and send me any questions that you have.

[00:17:48] Would love to hear from you. Bye-bye.
