Show Notes Transcript Chapter Markers

Many people set goals and have a vision of the life they want to create,  but most people never achieve their goals.

Why?

Because 99% of people don't know how to properly set goals, and you might be able to relate to this if you feel like:

  • You're stuck. You know you need/want to change, but never actually make forward progress.
  • You're frustrated. You know what you "should" do, but you're not doing it.
  • You're lost. You no longer know what the next steps should be, so you keep jumping from one thing to another, without actually sticking to anything.

If that's you, this episode is for you.

I'm doing something I've never done. I'm taking you behind the scenes into my goal setting & ACHIEVING process (because what's the point of setting goals if you don't have a plan for achieving them?).

This is a powerful process that I have used for years now that have allowed me to create all the massive things in my life I never thought I'd achieve, like starting a successful podcast, meeting the love of my life, manifesting my dream apartment, scaling my business and healing my relationship with food, exercise in my body!

Warning, this episode might help you create a life beyond your wildest dreams... if that's not in the cards for you in 2024, you can skip this episode ;)

Speaker 1:

Do you want to change your life this year, like actually transform your life and achieve the things that are going to make your life something that you love waking up to, something that you're proud of? Because I'm going to give you a five step process that I use myself every single year. Now, no, this is not about New Year's resolutions. This is a process that I use every year to create a life that is intentional, so that I know exactly what I want to focus on and align all of my actions in the upcoming year, so that I am intentional. I am the creator of the things that I want to achieve, and then I look back on it every year and I'm so proud of how much growth I've experienced, and it's through this five step process that I make it happen. So I'm going to share that with you in today's episode. So let's dive in. Welcome to the live unrestricted podcast, a show where you'll learn how to heal your relationship with food and your body so that you can focus your time and energy on more important things like your personal growth. I'm your host, sabrina Magna, food freedom coach, and my mission is to help make your life happier and healthier, without stress, overwhelm or guilt about food. If you love the show, please do go out and share it, and if you're looking for support with your relationship with food, details about my programs are in the show notes. Thanks for spending time with me today. Now let's jump in.

Speaker 1:

All right, so it's that time of the year where everyone is talking about new year's resolutions, about the things that they're going to do this year and how things are going to be different, and I'm sure that you've told yourself this before, and if you're listening to this podcast and you're feeling stuck, you feel like you have set the same goals time and time again. Maybe you feel unhappy in your life, you feel stagnant, and maybe you're in your mid-age and you look back and you're like I haven't accomplished what I wanted to accomplish, and maybe you have spent so much time jumping from one diet to another, thinking about food, trying to shrink your body, and you haven't actually had the time to focus on things that actually matter to you. This episode is going to be for you. I'm going to take you through a process, and so I recommend that you take out a pen and a piece of paper and do this on a day, or especially like a night, I don't know about you, I just get really creative at night, on a day where you can be by yourself, you can feel inspired, you don't have the kids running around yelling.

Speaker 1:

If you can like, do it after they've gone to bed, set the mood, put the candles on, put some like nice relaxing meditation, music if you need to, because when you do this exercise, you want to connect to your highest self, you want to connect to your intuition and not let that what I call that fear voice, that voice that's going to tell you but what if this happens? And that's not possible, like all of those limiting beliefs that can pop up when you're letting the external world come into your internal world. So the external world is people telling you that things are hard, that things are impossible, that the life that you want to achieve is out of reach. And if you internalize those beliefs, then whatever you internalize you create into your reality, right, your beliefs become your reality. So I want you to do this in a space where you feel inspired, you feel expansive and you feel this like deep belief in yourself that this is possible, because one of the biggest mistakes that I see people making is we think so short term.

Speaker 1:

We live in a world of instant gratification and we only think about like a week, a month from now, maybe a couple of months from now, but we don't think about things in the grand scheme of things and we overestimate what we can do in a week or a month, but we vastly underestimate what we can achieve in a year. And you see, there's like this trend and there's this research that has been done on the most successful people in the world, and one thing that they all have in common is the time span in which they talk. So you'll often hear people who have been successful, who have achieved a lot of things. They don't talk in matters of days or weeks or months. They talk in ways of years or even decades, the things that they want to accomplish a long time from now, because they know that patience and consistency and sticking to these small things time after time, are going to build up to these massive changes. If you've ever read Atomic Habits, it talks about these atomic changes of 1% being 1% better, 1% in the direction of where you want to go every day, and over time that becomes exponential and after a year you end up being 37 times better. But the same thing happens when you go 1% in the opposite direction, 1% away from your goals and your dream life, and you end up a year later and you feel like, how did I get here? And if you've ever felt that way and you feel like you're always thinking about the quick fix and what can I do next and how can I feel better right now, then there's a good chance that you haven't achieved the ultimate life that you wanted to achieve.

Speaker 1:

So what I'm going to take you through is this process, and I don't have a name for this process, so let's call it creating your breakthrough year. We'll call that this process. It's a five step process. So the first thing and remember, take out your pen and piece of paper. And the first thing that I always do and this is one of the action items that I give to my members inside Food Freedom Academy one of the first modules that we go through is to start with the end in mind. So what I mean by that is, let's say, that you're trying to get to a new destination, right? So you get in your car and you're trying to go to this new place that you've never been to before, and you grab your GPS. What's the first thing that you're going to do? You're going to put that end address into the GPS so that then your GPS can tell you if you should turn right, you should turn left. Are you on the right track? If you take a wrong turn, it's going to say detour. So the first thing that you want to do in life and this comes from Stephen Covey in the seven habits of highly successful people is to start with the end in mind.

Speaker 1:

So many people in life live from either their current circumstances right, this is my current circumstance, I'm struggling with money, I'm struggling with food, I'm struggling with body image or they live from the past. So they keep replaying the same mistakes and the same failures and the things that happened before. And when you live in the past, what you do is you bring that past into the present, and when that becomes your present, you bring it into the future, and that's why the past feels like it keeps repeating itself. So when you start with the end in mind and I think I don't know if this was instilled in me by my parents or if this has been through practice of reading books and doing a lot of, a lot of mindset work on myself, but I always think about any decision I make from the point of view of my future self. Not my past self, not my current self, not who I am right now, but what does my future self want, what is going to benefit my future self? And so if I don't know who my future self is or what I'm going after, then I'm not going to be able to make decisions that align with that.

Speaker 1:

So what you want to do when you start with the end in mind, is take out a journal, a piece of paper, somewhere you can write this down, and it's better to write this down by hand and I want you to start this journaling exercise or activity by writing today is December 31st, 2024, or you know. You can do that every year, so you change what year it is, but a year from now, so the last day of next year, and then I want you to describe what your year has looked like. So you're not talking in the future, like I will do this. You're either talking in the present or in the past tense. I am doing this, I am living this way, or I have achieved this, and if you're listening to this, then I know that your mind is going to instantly go to I've lost this weight or I look this way, and I don't want you to beat yourself up for feeling that way. It's absolutely normal.

Speaker 1:

You've lived either your entire life or the majority of your life as having weight loss and looking a certain way and shaping your body as your ultimate achievement, because that's what diet culture wants you to do. It wants you to be distracted trying to shrink your body, focusing on flaws in yourself that aren't actually flaws like cellulite or rolls, and making you spend all of your time, energy, mental space, potential on trying to fix a problem that was actually never a problem in the first place. There's this thing, this trend that I saw on TikTok, and it was something about like your Roman Empire, which is like the biggest thing that you're going after in your life, and I was thinking about what a lot of women's Roman empires were, and it was probably achieving a certain weight, and that made me really sad, because if you're listening, you're probably full of potential and you have the power to change the world and to create something amazing and to have this amazing ripple effect on the people around you. I always say that if I hadn't healed my relationship with food and my body and broken free from diet culture, I would have never had the mental space to start this business. And when I started this business, not only have I been able to help hundreds and thousands of women and change people's lives, but I've been able to do that with people who aren't even my clients, who aren't even struggling with the relationship with food and their bodies. Because when I work on myself and I feel empowered and I do this mindset work, I'm able to help the people around me who are themselves getting stuck in their limiting beliefs and not believing that they can create this amazing life that they want to create. And when I help these women in my program, they then have a ripple effect. They then have that effect on their kids.

Speaker 1:

I mean today, during one of our calls, one of the members in the academy. One of the big reasons why she joined the program is because she wanted to be able to help her kids heal their own relationship with food and their bodies and she felt this guilt that she was the reason that she passed that down to her kids, and so it was really important for her to be able to help herself so that she could help her family. And we get on the call today and she's telling us how they used to never eat dinner together because dinner was such a stressful time in the family because everyone wanted to eat something different and she was so strict and rigid and anxious around food that it made eating dinner together just like this really unpleasant experience. And so the kids never grew up with like these good habits around food of enjoying and connection. And then, on top of that, not knowing how to teach her kids like what a positive association with food was like. And so she came on today's call and she was saying we have been eating dinner together three times a week and this isn't a family where people are doing sports and activities. And she was like I never thought that this would be possible. And she's teaching her kids what like nourishing your body and not feeling guilt and shame and needing to hide her food, like she's teaching this to her kids and it's breaking this generational dieting trauma. And so the ripple effect of doing this work on yourself it cannot be underestimated. So I don't even know how I got into this little tangent, but I do think that it was important.

Speaker 1:

But if we go back to step one, starting with the end in mind, you want to look back, and you could do this in different categories, like one of them could be, and if you're listening to this, I highly recommend that one of them is your relationship with food and with your body. So you should do a column on what are your goals with your relationship with food and your body and if you have a hard time thinking like a year out, think of yourself at 80 years old. Okay, what do you want? Like if you could snap your fingers or wave a magic wand, what do you want your relationship with food and your body to look like? And get like super specific, like, what does your day to day look like? And don't let your fear voice, those limiting beliefs, come in and say that's not possible. You failed at this. You can't do this. Just imagine that that voice shut it down for just one second as you let your mind get inspired, so that could look like I wake up in the morning and this is, this is going to be mine. So I'm going to share what mine used to be when I was struggling with disorder eating and very toxic body image, and this is what my day to day looks like, right? So I do this with every piece of my life, healing my relationship with food and my body, my business, and every year I get super clear on what do I want to achieve in my business. And then I read my letter a year later and I'm like, oh my God, I achieve those things. And that's because of the next four steps that I'm going to give you on how to actually achieve those things and that mine looks like.

Speaker 1:

I wake up in the morning and I don't think about food. The first thing that's on my mind is not putting my hand on my belly to seeing to like squeezing my belly fat, or thinking about what I ate last night, or feeling guilty or feeling bad, or worrying about what I'm going to eat for breakfast, like none of that is even relevant to me. And then it could be, uh, so I'll tell you, kind of like, what my day looks like, and this used to be my vision of what I wanted my day to look like, and I actually achieved that, and that's because of this process. So I wake up and, um, don't think about food in my body. I go out on my living room, because I used to do this in my bed, but now Luke and I live together, so I go out in my living room and I meditate, and this could be 10, 15 minutes. I used to never do this.

Speaker 1:

I was not a meditator. I used to think meditating was stupid and very woo, woo and for for monks. But now I meditate, and then, after I meditate, I'll do some journaling, and journaling is a huge part of my life. I highly encourage it for my clients as well, and I give different ways of journaling, but I I really truly believe that it's been one of the most impactful things that have helped me regulate my nervous system, calm down negative thoughts, reframe negative thoughts, um, and and work through anything that's holding me back and limiting beliefs. So then, the next thing is, now that I've journaled, I like to read a couple of pages of my book. This could be two minutes, it could be five minutes, depending on how much time I have, and then I'll move my body in some way, and moving my body means just doing something that feels good.

Speaker 1:

I used to when I struggled with exercise addiction. I used to have to be at the gym and I used to do like an hour and a half at the gym and I couldn't take a day off and I felt guilty and my whole day revolved around working out and food, and that's not at all my reality anymore. So now I move my body in a way that feels good. I'm okay with taking the day off or just going for a walk, if that's what my body's asking me for. Then after that, I eat breakfast Again. I don't measure my food anymore. I don't put it on a food scale like I used to. I mean, I used to be so obsessive about every single gram and calorie that I used to eat and I used to track it into my fitness balance. That is so. I don't even use my food scale anymore. My fitness pal is so gone, it's not on my phone. So I eat breakfast. I eat a good breakfast that sustains me.

Speaker 1:

I'm not anxious about it, and I'm just going to pause and remind you like this. This is the level of detail that I want you to really embody and feel as you're writing this vision for yourself. And then after that it could be I go out with friends and I order what I truly want Not the salad, not the healthiest thing on the menu, but what I truly want, and I'm able to enjoy the conversation and be present with people. I'm able to have a date night with my husband or have a movie night with my kids and just eat the same thing as them and not have my entire world revolve around food. You can get super specific as to like how our holidays going to look like when you have a healed relationship with food.

Speaker 1:

And the most important piece of step one is to get your emotions involved. Words don't mean much when you don't actually feel it in your body. Because you want to embody this new vision, you want to see yourself living it, because your brain, it, doesn't know what's real and what's imagined. And so if you're able to see super clearly, in detail, the life that you're creating, the person that you're going to be a year from now, then your brain is just going to see it as like a memory. And if you keep repeating that vision time and time again, that is going to feel so familiar to you that every action that you take that's going to move you towards creating that life is going to feel like oh yes, of course I'm doing this because I've already done this in my mind before and I'm just creating that and bringing that to my reality.

Speaker 1:

And what's really important and I cannot stress this enough is to focus on how you're feeling, not how you're looking, not how your body looks, because any goal in our life that we chase, we chase it because of how we think it's going to make us feel. So if, let's say, you have this idea in your mind that tells you that I have to lose weight to love myself or to be happy or to be confident or whatever story you're telling yourself, then what you're really chasing is happiness and confidence and acceptance and all of these feelings that you think you're going to find in that body. And if you're like most of my clients, you've been in that body before through dieting and you didn't achieve any of those feelings, and that's because that promise that diet culture gives to you. It's a lie. We tell you that this entirely beautiful life is on the other side of losing weight. But I really encourage you to get super clear on like okay, and if this is hard to do for yourself, maybe do it for like. The idea of like. What would I want for my daughter, right? What would I want for my son? What would I want for someone that I really love?

Speaker 1:

And I call this front porch test, the funeral test, which is at the end of your life. Your entire life has gone by. What do you want to look back on? Do you want to look back on just staying home every night because you were so afraid of going to a restaurant and you want to look back on just eating perfectly and always staying within your calories? Or do you want to look back on the trips that you took and enjoy the cultural food? Do you want to look back on the spontaneous ice cream dates that you had with your nieces and nephews or sons or whatever that looks like for you? Really, allow yourself to see that vision clearly in your mind. So that is step one is to start with the end in mind.

Speaker 1:

Now, step two is to get clear on why this is important to you, and I don't want any surface level stuff. I really want you to get super clear and like dig deep. It's called what I call with my clients the seven layers of why. So even when you think that you've gotten to the true like reason why you want this, ask yourself can I go a layer deeper, kind of like that, that onion that you're peeling? So let's say that you write down this vision and you're super clear and you're excited. Why do I want this? And then your first response might be something like because I want to be happy.

Speaker 1:

All right, why do you want to be happy? Well, because I'm tired of spending my entire life thinking about food and my body. Why are you tired of spending your entire life thinking about food in your body? Because there's so many things that are more important that I want to give my energy to. Because I want to be present with my kids. When I'm playing with them, I want to remember conversations that I have at birthday parties instead of being fixated on the food table the entire time. I want to be able to start my own business and actually show up for it and not be afraid to be seen and have the mental energy to focus on that, because there's so many more important things than trying to shrink my body. It might be. I want to truly be healthy, I want to feed my body enough, I want to stop restricting and I want to have my period back, or my energy back, or be myself again.

Speaker 1:

I've spoken to a lot of women in the past couple of weeks who are joining the academy and a lot of them have said that they feel like they've lost their personality because they're so anxious, they're so rigid, they're so controlled that they're not truly being themselves. So the second step is to ask yourself why and this why should feel really deep for you, like you should almost get emotional when you write it down, and I know that I do. So that's the second step. The third step is and this might sound counterintuitive, but it is to write down your fears and how to support them.

Speaker 1:

So so many times we're afraid to talk about what scares us, what's like hiding in our subconscious, because we think, if I speak them into existence, then that's gonna become my reality. And so we think that if we don't talk about our fears, we don't give them power. But actually the opposite is true when you don't talk about your fears, you give them more power, because when you kind of push them down and shut them down, they remain in your subconscious. You don't bring them to your conscious awareness. They remain in your subconscious. And so what happens there is you're not able to work through them and your subconscious drives the show. We think that our conscious mind is like super smart, but your conscious mind, which is the things that you know, that you know. So, for example, if you've ever felt like I know what I should be doing, I'm just not doing it, that's your conscious mind working and the I'm not doing it, that's your subconscious mind because something is blocking you. You might know that you need to heal your relationship with food and your body, but your subconscious mind, something is holding you back and then you feel that resistance, you feel that tension. You're like God. I feel so stuck, and yet I'm not doing anything about it.

Speaker 1:

Your subconscious mind drives the show, because your subconscious hold your beliefs, your experiences, your identity, your fears, and so if you don't bring your fears to your conscious awareness, they're gonna keep running your life. So you wanna bring your fears to the surface. What are the fears that are coming up for you? I'm scared I'm going to gain weight. I'm scared I'm gonna lose control. I'm scared I'm never gonna eat healthy food. I'm scared I'm gonna become unhealthy.

Speaker 1:

Just write them all down and allow yourself to write them from a neutral perspective. Don't judge your fears. Write them down. They're valid. All of your thoughts, all of your emotions are valid. And so I have fears in my own business that I write down on paper and I'm like it sounds so silly when I write them down, when you bring them to the conscious awareness, but they're there and so, even if they're silly when you say them out loud, even if they don't make sense, they're there, they're true for you. So write them down and then how to support them. So that means, when this fear comes up for you, I actually have a force, that process in the academy to work through your fears. But when your fears come up for you, how will you support yourself? And I'm not saying overcome them.

Speaker 1:

Fears are always going to be there and I have this like mental imagery that I give to myself when I find myself getting in my fear in my business, because I'm always forcing myself to get uncomfortable. And when you're doing something that you've never done, then you are obviously just going to feel that discomfort because it's stepping outside of your comfort zone. It's stepping outside of something that you know it's not certain. Therefore it is scary. Even if it's not certain, even if it is scary, it doesn't mean that it's not the best for you, and that's something that I keep reminding myself. So I have this visual whenever I see my fear creeping up, is I see myself putting the fear in a backpack that I put on my back and I carry it with me as a companion. I don't see it as something I have to get rid of. I don't see it as something that's wrong. I say all right, fear. I see you. I see that you're trying to protect me because I've never done this before, because this is uncertain and this might be something that really pushes me outside of my comfort zone. So I'm gonna see you, I'm not gonna listen to you, I'm not gonna change my actions or go back to dieting because you're there, but I'm gonna put you in my backpack and I'm gonna carry you with me, because whenever someone joins the Academy, for example, I always ask them how are you feeling? And they always say I'm terrified. And I say good, because I would think there's something wrong if you didn't feel scared.

Speaker 1:

Because when you feel scared doing something like this, it's because your body, your brain, knows you're finally doing something different Every time you start a new diet. Think about it. Do you feel this, some kind of fear that you feel when you think about intuitive eating or healing your relationship with food? Probably not, because subconsciously, your brain knows I've done this before, even if it's a different diet. I know what's gonna happen. It's predictable. I know exactly. I'm gonna start this diet, I'm gonna lose weight, I'm gonna fall off the wagon. And you're not consciously thinking this, of course you're not. Or if you wouldn't do the diet if you did? But your subconscious knows you're doing the same thing over and over again, expecting different results. And so those diets aren't scary.

Speaker 1:

But when you're thinking about intuitive eating, healing your relationship with food, finding food freedom, we're completely moving away from dieting. It's like comparing oranges to apples and your brain is going to make up these really shiny, fancy, real feeling fears, but they're not true, like these fears of well, you're going to, you're gonna lose control, you're just gonna eat all the foods. You're gonna end up worse off. The truth is that if you're listening to this right now, you're probably already at your worst case scenario. You're probably already at a rock bottom of some sort, and you can only go up from here. So write down your fears and how are you gonna support yourself? Not overcome them, but support yourself for when they come up. Maybe that means having that visualization of all right, I can see that I'm feeling this way. I can see that, and this could be writing a script too. Hey, fear, I see that you're coming up with all of these fancy excuses or thoughts or beliefs that are coming up when you think about me doing this. I see you, I see that you're trying to keep me safe, but I need to do this because you have your vision now. So that's step three. Step four is to find yourself a community.

Speaker 1:

For the past year, I've been feeling like I have been very alone in my business, because ever since I started my business, I have invested in coaching programs, because when I first started my business, I tried to do it on my own and I would listen to the podcast and the books and the free challenges and all of these things, and then what I found myself doing is just getting stuck in analysis, paralysis. I was consuming so much content and not having any clear path of like. Step one, step two, step three I had no guidance, no community, and so I was going nowhere, and a lot of people experience this in different areas of their life. So I joined a coaching program and then I saw how much it helped me, so I joined a second one and a third one. I must have been in four, five, five coaching programs at this point, um, but in the past year I haven't had an active community, like I had the courses from past programs, but I didn't have an active community that was helping me and I was.

Speaker 1:

I kept telling Luke like it just feels very lonely and like when you face challenges and when you get in your own way, and when you have fears and when you want to talk through something and no one in your life understands you, like really on a deep level it it becomes easy to get stuck, um, to stop moving forward, because then your brain and your fears start taking over and you don't take as much action and you are not able to work through your challenges. So a couple at this point. A month ago I was in California for a conference and this opportunity to join a high level mastermind came up and it was a really big investment and it was really scary for me, um. It was an investment that I had never made in myself like this before and the thought of doing it made me want to throw up in nerves. But then I realized I've made a lot of investments in myself at this point in my business, um, and I do think that investing in yourself is the best thing that you can do. You are your best investment, and I realized that I was.

Speaker 1:

I was scared of investing in this, not because of the money, but because I knew that doing this would kind of like light, a fire up my ass and and and push me to do things that I knew I needed to do. That that was scary for me, that was scaring me, and these are things that I know that, if I want to achieve that life that I write down every year for a year from now, and if I want to achieve the life that I want to create 10 years from now and have the impact and and help millions of people like my mission and my purpose is that I need to do these things. And I need to do them sooner rather than later, because the longer you wait, the harder it becomes, cause you get even more stuck in your comfort zone and more stuck in your fears. So I had I think I had like less than 24 hours to make the decision, and so I called Luke that night and I said I'm going to do it, and I'm doing it before I can sleep on it because I don't want to talk myself out of it because I know that I need to do this and I know that this is going to be the best decision I've probably ever made. It's really scary, but I'm doing it anyways. So I put my credit card down, thought I was going to throw up, did it and then immediately afterwards like I can't even describe how immediate it was I felt like a weight was lifted off my shoulders and there was a voice that was like you're not alone in this anymore, cause now, for the next 12 months, you're going to be surrounded by a group of high level online business owners, ceos, entrepreneurs who know exactly what you're going through, who are going to be able to support you through your challenges and give you advice and be there for you.

Speaker 1:

And I just felt this amazing shift in energy, and I know that when you're struggling with your relationship with food and body image and disordered eating and dieting, there is so much shame and isolation that comes along with it, because you think you're alone, you think you're broken, and so maybe there's a few people in your life who you can talk to about it. Maybe they're struggling just as much as you do or they don't really understand you. Maybe you can talk to your partner about it, but your partner has never really had food or weight issues, so like they're trying their best to support you but they don't really know how. So having a community who's going to be able to uplift you and hold you and help you through those good days and those bad days is everything. I cannot um overstate this.

Speaker 1:

I started my business for the first year and a half doing one-on-one coaching. I was taking on private clients and then my calendar was just getting too full and I couldn't do it anymore. So I decided to do a group coaching program and there was a lot of fear there too, and I pushed through that fear and did it anyways. And when I started doing my group program, which is the food freedom Academy, I was mind blown. I was like I should have done this group environment earlier, because not only am I able to now support these women, but they can support each other as well and they can demonstrate this level of understanding and compassion and kindness and it's really amazing to see. And the community aspect can take you so much further than you could ever do it on your own. So that's.

Speaker 1:

The fourth thing is now you have your vision and you know what you want to achieve and what it's going to take, then you know your why. You've run written down your, your fears. You found yourself a community to hold you accountable and to make sure that you're really following through on this vision. And then the last step of this five step process to creating the amazing life that you want is to align your actions with this vision. Right, because if you have ever heard about manifestation and you think that manifestation is just you put it out into the world and you put it on your vision board and everything, you just wait and it will happen to you. That's not the case, because a really big piece of manifestation is the action piece, the law of action. So, now that you know what your life is going to look like a year from now, what are the actions that are going to get you there?

Speaker 1:

So, for example, for me, I already knew what my life, I wanted my life, to look like a year from now, at least business wise. I still have to sit down at this point and get clear on like okay socially, and relationships and my family and all of these other aspects of my life, and I encourage that you do this with other aspects of your life, but like the, really the important column is like the relationship with food and your body, because your relationship with food and your bodies are your most important relationships in your life. They affect every single area of your life. There's no other relationships that are going to affect your career and your self-esteem and your mental health and your physical health and your relationship and your partnership and your family. Like no other relationships have this kind of impact on every area of your life like the one with your relationship with food, your body and yourself, really.

Speaker 1:

So I can't remember what my train of thought was there. Oh, yes, so I got super clear on what my business vision was for next year, and so the last step is okay, now take action on it. And when I was presented with this opportunity to join this mastermind, it was a no brainer. And yes, it was scary, but it was a no brainer because the universe like put it in front of me and was like all right, you said this was your goal. Here it is.

Speaker 1:

And so I can't remember who it is I think it's Jen Gottlieb who calls it these unicorn opportunities that kind of show up in your life and if you don't grab them and you just kind of let them go. You don't know when's going to be that next unicorn opportunity that just kind of seem to show up at the perfect time for you. So that last step is to align your actions with that vision. And any action that does not align with that vision does not get taken. So kind of like when you're on that GPS route and you're going towards that destination, if the GPS says turn right, you're not just going to decide to turn left right Because that's not where you're trying to go.

Speaker 1:

So when you have super clarity on the life that you want to create, then any action that won't help you achieve that gets discarded. So if, for example, your cousin comes up to you and starts telling you about this new diet that she's trying and your initial voice goes oh my god, maybe I should try it. Well, then your vision comes back into your mind and you said, okay, well, when I'm 80 years old or a year from now, dieting, being stuck in diet culture, still being in that cycle and spending my entire life dedicated to trying to shrink my body and trying to lose weight, that's not in my future that I want to create. Therefore, I'm not going to do it now, even if your brain is going to say something like well, just do it for a couple months, lose the weight, and then you can do that. No, be super disciplined about the actions that you take, the choices that you make, because any choice that doesn't align with your values or with the future that you want to create is going to feel out of alignment.

Speaker 1:

So I'm going to go over those five steps one more time. Write them down. Please do this process. I am really I cannot stress this enough how much this can create a different life for you a year from now.

Speaker 1:

So, first step start with the end in mind. Get crystal clarity on what your life is going to look like a year from now, from the moment you wake up to the moment you go to bed. Second is ask yourself why this is so important, and ask yourself that question seven times, if you need to to get to like that root reason. The third is write down your fears and how you will support those fears, not overcome them. Fourth is find yourself a community, a support system, people who are going to be there for you. Don't try to do this alone. And then, fourth is align all of your actions this year. Take actions towards creating that future, creating that vision, even if those actions, those actions are scary, especially if those actions are scary, because if you're trying to create a different future, then you need to take different actions.

Speaker 1:
