Ever wonder why one glass of wine leaves you fine and the next one wrecks you? Paul Lagerstedt invented ALKAA® , a patented sachet you drop right in your glass to pull out the compounds in alcohol that makes you feel bad. He joins Dr. Susan Fox to talk about what's behind that post-drink crash, and how it affects you if you're trying to conceive, going through IVF, or dealing with perimenopause.

Paul explains the difference between absorbing and adsorbing. He also busts the myth that vodka and tequila are the "clean" drinks, and talks about the alcohol tax most of us pay with that morning-after “blah” feeling.

If you could treat the glass to remove toxic compounds, would you?

This episode is for you if:

  • you've noticed alcohol hits you harder than it used to
  • you're trying to conceive but want to enjoy your social life at certain times in your cycle
  • you're in perimenopause and drinks just don't sit right anymore
  • you want one simple thing to try tonight

SPEAKER_00

Hello and welcome to today's episode of Health University, where we talk all things fertility, pregnancy and postpartum, and what we call the pre-perimenopausal time frames, short walks across the bridge of life for many women and couples who are listening in. And today we're going to cover something a little bit different, but really important for those, especially going through their fertility journey, and that is the hidden cost of drinking, what's really in your glass and what you can do about it. And we have with us as a guest today Paul Langerstedt. Am I pronouncing your last name correctly, Paul?

SPEAKER_02

That's pretty close, Langerstead. Yep.

SPEAKER_00

And so, and Paul comes to us with an invention, and the invention is called ALCA, A-L-K-A-A. And I'm going to talk about Paul just briefly here. He's an inventor, a systems thinker, and co-founder of ALCA, the first patented in-glass sachet designed to reduce trace compounds in alcoholic beverages before you sip. Raised in Washington State's Cascade Foothills, beautiful, Paul began his career as a diesel mechanic in his family's trucking company. And there he developed a lifelong instinct for diagnosing problems and engineering precise solutions, literally looking under the hood, correct?

SPEAKER_02

That's right.

SPEAKER_00

That same methodology drove years of research into fermentation byproducts, ultimately yielding a U.S. patent and creating a new beverage wellness category that didn't previously exist. He and co-founder Sarah Longersted relocated to New York in 2021 to build ALCA based in Hudson Valley, New York City. So, New York, pardon me. So welcome, Paul. Thank you so much for joining us today. And once again, we just spoke briefly off camera about how people who are struggling with fertility or want to have a baby, you know, it's it there's a little bit of a dilemma, right? You know, they they they want to be able to enjoy their social lives and not be so restricted, and yet they know that the toxicity of alcohol is potentially part of the impediment. So I really want to roll up our sleeves and find out how you know why that happens, what causes it to happen, and then how alga can be a remedy for those who, you know, it's summertime. People want to go out and have some beverages with their friends and family and loved ones.

SPEAKER_02

Yes. So I um is it Susan or Dr. Fox?

SPEAKER_00

Oh, Susan, please call me Susan. Okay, Susan.

SPEAKER_02

Susan, yeah, you you nailed it. So there are there are so many toxins, and uh actually what we'll say toxins and trace compounds, because toxin sometimes is a little scary. Um the fermentation process of making alcohol, the the byproducts of that, um, and and I never knew this, are histamines, sulfites, acetaldehyde, congeners, um, tannins, of course, tyramine, and and and a couple others that are are just known causes for that general malaise feeling that we get after we drink. So in in a in a nutshell, I just after years uh of just feeling awful after a glass of wine, decided to try to fix the problem. And and again, just for the sake of brevity, come to find out, it wasn't dehydration that was causing it, and it and it wasn't the alcohol per se. It was just uh these trace compounds that really affect your body after you take a sip of wine. And most of that, Susan, comes from the inflammation response. So as soon as your body has inflammation, it just wrecks havoc on you physically uh and physiologically. So I think anytime we can reduce the toxin load in anything that we ingest, we're gonna be better off.

SPEAKER_00

Without a doubt. And our bodies are thankfully miraculously designed to respond accordingly when we when we remove some of the insults. You know, we we can't live in a bubble, but to the degree to which we can remove some of the insults, especially to our organs of detoxification, our liver, our pancreas, and then of course the downstream messages that occur all the way to our reproductive organs, uh we're we're doing ourselves a huge favor.

SPEAKER_01

Absolutely.

SPEAKER_00

Let's talk about this, Sachet. How does it work?

SPEAKER_02

So it I'll get a little nerdy. Let's get nerdy. Let's get a little bit more. Okay, because this is this is where it's uh I learned so much by just doing deep dives. Um again, kind of that diesel mechanic mentality really helped um the diagnosing of this problem. And the the further I dove into it, the more I'm like, I think that these byproducts of fermentation or distillation are really causing a lot of issues. Um, so what are they? Like, what is a histamine, Susan? Like what what is a tannin? What is acetaldehyde? So this is um, you know, years ago, like 2021, and and uh I'll call it good old-fashioned Google, right? It was it was it was just Google. Exactly. Um I I found that these uh trace compounds can be adsorbed. So if it think of a sponge in water. A sponge, if you put a sponge in water, it absorbs the water. ABS absorbs. So the water goes into the sponge, you can take the sponge out and squeeze it. There's another um mechanism called adsorb. So ADS, think of like a magnet into a bucket of nails. It will grab the nails and the nails stick to it, but they don't become part of the magnet. Right. So there's this this uh mechanical difference of something, you know, the water going into the sponge or the nails sticking to a magnet. Think of alga, the sachet, as a magnet for these trace compounds.

SPEAKER_00

Interesting.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, you put it in, and then the the ingredients themselves have either a negative charge or a positive charge. And we have both. We have some with negative, some with positive, and they go in and they attract their opposites. So um you'll have like uh some coconut charcoal that will attract a tannin. You'll have some some zeolite that will attract a histamine. So again, this is just um science in physics in glass all before we uh introduce it to our body. And that that's what Alka does. The sachet goes in the glass, and and we do buy glass because movement of the liquid through the sachet media for five minutes is the key. Okay, like and so movement. So you don't just pop the sachet into the glass, you need to have a little bit of yeah, you need a little bit of gentle movement, and and in that time I thought was like a filtration almost. Yeah, it exactly. It it's a type of filtration. And I thought that that five minutes was a kind of a big negative. Like people, like I don't it's a hot summer day, Susan. I don't want to wait, I don't want to wait for my beer, I don't want to wait for my margarita or my glass of wine. But after you know, we've been working with Alka, we've had it for about well almost four years now. What we're finding is that um we're changing people's relationship with alcohol. And by that I mean when you use alka, if you and again, we preach moderation, when you can have a glass of wine and not have the side effects, that five minutes becomes kind of a new ritual.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, right?

SPEAKER_02

You put your sachet in, I get it, you set your timer, right? Where like Siri set a timer for five minutes, you had your conversation with your friends or your family or your loved ones, and when that timer goes off, you've you've been swirling your drink, um, you've been cleaning it or filtering it, um, and then you get to enjoy it. So we've got this, this again, this um this new ritual that that you can experience. And then after you drink, you just don't have that flushing, congestion, headaches, um, or that dreaded awful sleep that night, right? Where you you think you're gonna sleep well, but you don't.

SPEAKER_00

Right.

SPEAKER_02

And then you wake up the next morning, and it's not a I hate the word hangover that just is synonymous with over drinking, but just that general malaise feeling of just like, oh, you just that that fogginess, yeah.

SPEAKER_00

There's been too much put in the sponge, so to speak.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, exactly. And and it and you and you didn't, yeah. It was just a glass of wine, that's not too much, right? Right.

SPEAKER_00

But but for one's body and these compounds, the compounds become too much. I really, really love the uh the the appreciation and the focus on creating a new relationship with the with the glass of um you know alcohol itself, glass of wine, whatever, or whatever your choice is, because I do think that, you know, when we order that glass of wine or pour it, uh, if the impulse is to quickly get a sip, um, there's a little bit of a um, how shall I say? It's it's not an addiction, perhaps, but it is but but we but we are kind of at the mercy of the the distilled beverage itself, as opposed to being in air quotes right relationship with it as something that is enhancing as opposed to over overcoming our our desire to you know have a full experience of the meal that includes the alcoholic beverage.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

So so I I it is not necessarily taking out the alcohol, it is taking out the compounds that are creating this inflammatory response.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. So I I personally enjoy the the way alcohol makes you feel, right? I again happy heart, end of the day, you're with your right, you know what I'm talking about. And it's a that's a tough one to to kind of put into words because alcohol is so polarizing for a lot of people. But we're talking again, moderation, people that don't want to quit drinking, but that just don't feel good afterwards. So yeah, it um it's the first time where uh I don't pay the price for enjoying a beer or or a margarita. Or before, different alcohols would make me feel diff different or they would affect me differently. So that's why I was like, I don't think it's the ethanol. And this is where Alka kind of we draw a line in the sand and we're like, it's it's not the ethanol that's causing these problems. Now, if you over-drink, of course, like of course, but like water, you filter your water to take out the chlorine. Yes, there is a lot of things. And it doesn't, and just because you you do that, it doesn't mean that you're going to over-drink water, right? You're you're filtering, you're cleaning it. Um, we don't take out the water, we just take out the chlorine. With with alka, we don't touch the ethanol, so the ethanol stays. The pH balance of the of the drink stays, and that's that was my next question.

SPEAKER_00

Does it change the taste at all?

SPEAKER_02

So it can, because that little sachet absorbs tannins, and tannins right, they give you the mouthfeel of of the wine and and they resin and the bitiness. Um, since we are removing them because tannins are a cause of like vaso, I can't remember if it's constriction or dilation.

SPEAKER_00

But it's vasodilation that gives it the flush. Exactly. And that comes at a cost of vasoconstriction elsewhere, right? If we're getting a flush output.

SPEAKER_02

Exactly. So we had a study done, um, and I think it's available on our website, basically about what what these different trace um compounds do. But we didn't, we don't mess with the the alcohol content or the pH balance. And and but but tannins, so that's why we have five minutes. If you no, now for me, um, I don't really mind if I if it smooths out the wine a little bit more at the at the expense of of um reducing that that tannic load even further. So at about five minutes, you're looking at a 70% reduction in tannins. Okay. Anything longer than that, it gets pretty extreme.

SPEAKER_00

So for those somebody who were like, I really like the tannin feel, maybe just do it a little shorter time frame, a little shorter swirl. I mean, you're forfeiting some of the some of the ability for that uh adsorption. Um but uh but you know, it's a choice.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, and exactly. And and we're very uh transparent with with that. Now, again, for me, I will I will give up a little bit of and and like Susan, I I can't tell the difference on a five-minute before or at you know, with alka or without alka, I can't tell a difference. Sarah can't tell a difference. A sommelier or a win master would would be able to tell the difference. Um, but the the the benefits are I can have two glasses of wine and not pay the price. That to me is totally worth every every tannin that is absorbed.

SPEAKER_00

Uh-huh. It's interesting that you say this because I I took some alcohol with me on a recent trip to Europe with a couple of friends. And on one occasion, we were having a meal that was a white wine, you know, accompaniment, and nobody noticed the difference. On another occasion, we had with with a red wine accompaniment, and the two of them had noticed, oh yeah, it does, because we actually had one glass with and one glass without. We wanted to see if we could really do it. So we were just, you know, kind of really making a game of it. And and you know, they they noticed it, they preferred the tannin sensation. We were only going to have a glass, so they said, you know, I would we'll take this, we'll take this bottle. And I said, I would rather take the other bottle because I yes, I slightly noticed it, but it didn't, it wasn't an issue for me. I I I actually preferred the smoothness without the tannins. And I and I didn't ask them the next the next morning, how did they feel? How did they see that?

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, uh well, if it didn't come up, that's that may be a good thing, right? Because a lot of times um our our customers, they uh they just get the uh again that that new relationship usually you know you there's there's that that time where you're like, am I gonna wake up not feeling good or am I not? And and with Alka, you just you get used to being able to have a drink and and not feel awful. So yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Tell me about what you refer to as the air quotes alcohol tax. What would it be?

SPEAKER_02

You know, I and this is just something for me is before, way before Alka, um, we would say uh we'd go to a barbecue or to some friends for dinner, and I know there's gonna be wine. And and I I like wine, but it would it would always make me feel not very good. And I would pre I guess you call it pre-game. That's kind of a silly word, but I would take some ibuprofen before I see. Oh I would do a a ton of water, right? Because that was, you know, dehydration. I would do usually some charcoal pills because I I heard that that can capture toxins in, you know, after you drink. Uh and then I would usually do a uh there was a a pill called flyby. And it was a it was a pre-drink pill. And there's there's a bunch of those. There's pre-drink shots, there's um, there's a lot of items out there to treat the body. But no matter what I did, I would I would enjoy the the evening with our friends, but then I would always pay what I call the alcohol tax of I had a lovely evening, but I just feel like garbage. Right? Or or a date night. We go out for a date night and have a glass of wine or two, and then I would I would just not feel it would just kind of ru it would just kind of ruin date night.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. That would be that that's what I refer to as the alcohol tax. You enjoy it, it tastes good, it's lovely, but I'm all I'm always paying that that that tax. And and when you don't have to do that anymore, it just is, it's um, it's kind of life-changing is too strong of word, but just that reduction of all those toxins. Yeah, yeah, you just like, oh man, it's uh it's like in New York, it's it's like 90 degrees out right now, and it's super hot. And you can enjoy a cold beverage, and like for beer, for me, I would get um headaches, uh, just a mild headache, but also fatigue. Fatigue would like I'd be like, man, I feel like I need to take a nap. Exactly. So you take out the histamines and you can enjoy the beverage and be alert and with it and and enjoy the rest of your evening without paying the alcohol tax.

SPEAKER_00

So you mentioned that other products that treat the body, whereas alka treats the glass or the or the beverage. Say more about that if you will.

SPEAKER_02

Okay. There's so much pre uh you're you're trying to treat your liver, right? Take take take this supplement, take this pill. Um there's even a lot of things.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, take take take your milk thistle, take your dandelion root, take it exactly.

SPEAKER_02

So you can take it or while you're drinking, take this pill, uh, shot, um, or or or when you're yeah, when you're when you're done drinking before you go to bed, take this. This pill, um, this capsule, uh, this shot. When you wake up in the morning, take this, this shot. And and most mo they they all go after the body. The consequence. And and you're you're different than me. Sarah is perimenopausal. She's she's different than um one of my buddies is is very tall, and he's a he's a big dude, and he can, he can, he can drink, right? He's different than so. Everybody's um my brain was like, how do you, how does one pill or a couple pills work for everybody when when different alcohol makes me feel different, and the size and the shape and the age and the stress and the inflammation and the maybe you have an autoimmune disease, like all of these things in my, you know, and again, I'm just a ex-desel mechanic. I'm like, I just how about we go like what's in the drink?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, go go from the perpetrator, not the victim of the drive-by shooting, so to speak. Exactly. So I've put together a free 28-day detox masterclass that you can access by clicking on the link below. And now let's go back to our show.

SPEAKER_02

So before you take your first sip, you've you've filtered your drink. And and that just gives your body a chance to r really work with the alcohol with less um less interference.

SPEAKER_00

Got it. You know, you mentioned Sarah is perimenopausal, and a lot of our viewers are what I refer to as the air quotes pre-perimenopausal. They, you know, they a lot of times people who are kind of struggling with fertility are starting their or wanting to continue their families a little later in life. And so there's there is both happening, both this hormonal fluctuation, dysregulation going on while they are trying to conceive and sometimes with hormonal uh stimulation from from an IVF or an advanced reproductive therapy cycle. So, so I would that that is another uh sort of demographic that I think that would be really helpful, you know, women who are in that sort of pre-perimenopause or perimenopause phase, it's so unpredictable. It is by its very nature unpredictable because hormones are fluctuating month to month to month very differently. So I can also imagine that this could be really super helpful for the woman who's like, I have no idea what's going to happen this month.

SPEAKER_02

I think you're right, Susan. And and with ALCA, it's a it's a very easy, uh, fairly easy. Inexpensive way to reduce a real known issue, and that is um when I drink, it definitely is affecting me somehow, right? It's either my sleep or um the the headaches immediately or the headaches the next day or just the flushing. So yeah, this is it's again a new kind of a new thought to have this little mini filter that goes in and does its thing.

SPEAKER_00

Um and viewers, listeners, I I want to share, I didn't I didn't bring the sachet with me, but it is it is the size of a postage stamp. So it's not as though you're putting this gigant, you know, trying to squeeze a gigantic sachet. We we kind of think of them as being the size of our hand. It's the size of a post postage stamp. And correct me if I'm wrong, but as I understand it, one sachet can be used for a couple of glasses of wine or or or whatever the beverage is. Is that yeah, is can it be used for more than that?

SPEAKER_02

Or is it is it you know kind of like the limit. Yeah. So the the sachets, like if you order them online and you just get like the ones that I sent you, I think they're I think they're three fifty three dollars and fifty cents a piece on average. And so you can use it twice. And so let's just say a dollar seventy-five per drink. Uh and if you have two glasses of wine, so an added, right? It's an added cost, but it's also that wellness, right?

SPEAKER_00

If you look at I either any type of supplement or or post-drink to say the per unit cost of milk systol or dandelion root or heaven forbid ibuprofen, because that's that comes with its own cost, additional cost. I think that uh the the the the dollar value is is well earned by swirling the sachet for five minutes.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, and we've done a ton of testing. So my my other the other um portion of of my uh my secular career was was working for a manufacturing company that made safety equipment. So we did a lot of testing and uh like OSHA compliance. So with with ALCA, it taught me that find a laboratory, do the before and afters. Um and and that was just for me. Like we actually created ALCA just just for me. And then in talking about it with friends and family, come to find out I wasn't the only one that doesn't feel good after after he drinks. So we've we've got the the backing of the laboratory before and afters, right? Like here's a glass of wine, here's the before sulfite, here's the after, after five minutes with alka, here's the reduction.

SPEAKER_00

And tell me like on average, what is that reduction? Because I think that those numbers are are useful for people to consider.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, they are. I mean, hang on, you know what? I'm gonna go to our little study.

SPEAKER_00

Okay.

SPEAKER_02

It's um so in red wine with uh, let's see here, sulfites, we've got a hundred percent reduction in um let's see here histamines in beer and wine, tyramines, and then we have reductions from 30, 30, three about 30% up to 100% in these seven different toxins. And and it was so like after we got the recipe dialed in, it was so impressive that um that we're like, I I I think we can get a patent on this because it's in instead of measuring like or doing clinical studies with with a pre or post right um again, too many variables taking a blood sample.

SPEAKER_00

There you who knows, does this person have autoimmune? Is this personal administrating and so on? Yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_02

So with this, it it it it's like a you know water filter, like okay, uh we're gonna test this water, and there's um gonna be let's just say fluoride and chlorine before, and then we run it through a filter and then after, and what are the numbers?

SPEAKER_00

So that's basically what we've done with alka in a in a very simple reduction in histamines, a hundred percent reduction in sulfites. These are these are known. I'm gonna use the tur term contaminants, right? Uh if we want to find a different word than than toxins, it but there really is a contamination that happens in our body when we're consume when we're consuming and then having a physiological response to the insult of of the fermentation process.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, yeah. So and then the different alcohols we test wine and then beer, tequila, whiskey, vodka, gin, and and come to find out the like a like a dark whiskey or a tequila is really, really loaded with a ton of these compounds.

SPEAKER_00

That's very interesting because there's a myth out there that if you want to air quotes drink clean, you should be having you know vodka or tequila or these or these non-sugar, if you will. But 100%. Yeah, but that but that does not.

SPEAKER_02

That's that that actually that's true because if when you look at the uh let me see here, I'm gonna look at do I have this here on this one? Um, vodka and gin. If you had to choose something and and not treat it with alka, I would definitely do a vodka. Because especially like a triple distilled, because it takes out a lot of these these compounds. Um, but I still use it in vodka because vodka gives me it just I'm sensitive until I just I use it because a lot of times we mix vodka with a sugary substance. Exactly, exactly and a margarita, like you take a let's just say you take a cheaper tequila with a ton of sugar, and that's where again that that that little sachet, you can go to a Mexican restaurant, put your sachet in the margarita, Susan, swirl it for five minutes and have an enjoyable experience, and then it won't ruin you for the rest of the day. It's it's it's really it's really fun to just be able to not again pay that alcohol tax.

SPEAKER_00

Right, right. I can imagine that you know, summertime parties for you up in the Hudson Valley, everybody knows what you're bringing to the batteries.

SPEAKER_02

So yeah, but we we do end up gifting quite a bit. Um it's just um, you know, I I again Sarah and I not this was nothing in our radar or realm being in the alcohol, not I don't want to say industry, but like we're that's what we do for our day jobs. We we sell a product to make alcohol less painful. Um it's kind of um, it's really fun, but it's also a you know a big responsibility, and we take it very, very seriously.

SPEAKER_00

The testing alone that you're willing to you know go through that rigorous testing demonstrates that this is not, you're not, you're not, you're not running this business as an influencer status. You're actually running it with with uh a consciousness um that that is to really help folks out.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Do you have and if somebody I was gonna say, do you have any like remarkable stories where someone reported back to you like, oh my god, I was you know debilitated and now I can enjoy? Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Susan, we do. And they're they're they're on our website. They're read the reviews are um they're stunning. Yeah, that's they they are they are how I feel. I that that's how I you know I'm I was so excited when Alka worked that I'm like, I just want everybody to feel as good as I feel. It's like a it's like a a new lease on life because you're like, wow, I've got if I decide to have a beer on a Friday, my Saturday isn't ruined.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Or if we go to a wedding on a Saturday, my my whole Sunday, like I can wake up at 5 a.m. and do my bike ride.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Or if I drink on a if we go out to dinner with friends on a Sunday for a nice charcuterie board and wine, I can show up Monday to the office 100%. So I I like I just want everybody to feel so good.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

And and that's that's that's kind of how we we operate through the day. We're like, we're gonna focus on we focused on the science, the manufacturing. Um now it's building that trust with people and and saying that look, if when you order Alca, we guarantee that um well, we can't guarantee that it works for you, but we have a money back guarantee where if it doesn't work for you, like you just send us a text or an email, we will give you your money back 100%, um, no questions asked, unless you want us to ask some questions. We would love to, yeah, because we there has been a couple people where it hasn't worked, um just happened recently. And I was like, would you mind if I just asked a couple questions via email? And most people they want to be able to enjoy their alcohol. So we found out there there was a couple usage adjustments that they could make and it solved the problem. And most of it, Susan, is that it needs the five minutes.

SPEAKER_00

There you go.

SPEAKER_02

Okay, and it and it needs its movement. So, and if you decide to reuse it, it needs 10 minutes. That's and that's that's all that's all over our, you know, the the instructions. So five minutes and then it needs it's 10 minutes if you do that. You need some gentle movement.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, yeah. That's amazing. So, yeah, I mean, I'm thinking of you know, of couples trying to conceive, and you know, in the second they they become so limited in their life in terms of you know removing any potential toxins. But then what becomes toxic is the stress hormone of you know, we've already tried. So, you know, so the guy's job is done for a couple of weeks, if you know, and then hopefully if they're successful, they're you know, the rest of it is just for fun and intimacy anyway. But but to to have to to be able to remove that forever restriction is really, I think, so helpful for the woman. Maybe she would, you know, during her bleed time, this is when she could maybe get away with it for a little bit, because you know, follicles haven't yet begun growing to the place where you know we really want to make sure that there's no alcohol in in the body, you know, when it gets closer to ovulation time. So this way they can they can have they can have a a whole life. They're not they're not sort of sort of on a shelf, elf on a shelf, waiting for that positive pregnancy test.

SPEAKER_02

I think that's uh that that's pretty powerful.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I agree. I agree, yes.

SPEAKER_02

And we take that we take that uh that responsibility and and that um like what we're honored to be able to potentially give that back to somebody.

SPEAKER_00

So I'm gonna see if I can recap a little because I want to make sure that that I'm hitting the salient points, and then if I've missed Eddie, please, please uh add on. So alka is not an it does not remove alcohol, it's removing the compounds that will create some level of inflammatory response, histamine, tannins, sulfites, etc. Uh alc alka is not going to re is not going to uh replace the need for being properly hydrated. So so please hydrate as well as enjoy. I mean, it's they're both liquids, but we really do need to be hydrated as well. And yet hydration alone isn't going to be what dilutes the compounds that are otherwise having this effect on you. In order for it to be effective, you need it to the first pass of the sachet to be five minutes in the glass swirling. Now, are you swirling the entire five minutes or is it just a swirl every now and then?

SPEAKER_02

A swirl every now and then is adequate.

SPEAKER_00

Okay. And then if you're going to enjoy a second glass and use the same sachet, you do it for 10 minutes, which I think is also, again, a wonderful way of in uh, I don't want to say interrupting, changing the experience of the ritual. That second glass isn't about just, you know, a chaser, so to speak. You're not you're not having that second glass and just, you know, kind of consuming it without thought, because you know, again, alcohol, like any um any luxury, should should be, should be relished and savored if you're going to choose to have it. Okay, so is there anything that I missed in that recap that you want to make sure that folks are?

SPEAKER_02

I don't think so. Okay.

SPEAKER_00

That nailed you.

SPEAKER_02

That's fantastic.

SPEAKER_00

Okay. Well, I will be having, I mean, the the the website will be will be available in the show notes and in on on the YouTube notes and so forth. So people can can reach out to you. If someone were to have a question before purchase, are they able to reach out to you with a question? Or is there a customer service kind of uh email address that they can check in with? Yes.

SPEAKER_02

So hello at alca.com.

SPEAKER_00

Okay.

SPEAKER_02

That will that will come right to Sarah and I, and we will respond uh very quickly.

SPEAKER_00

Okay, that's wonderful. Well, this has been an eye-opening conversation. Again, I I I had the privilege, and yes, thank you for sending me some samples. I even went out because I wasn't sure I was going to get them in time and purchased some myself on Amazon I got them on Amazon because it was a quick turnaround. So, folks, they're on Amazon as well as on the site, but it's always nice to go to uh a company's own site, I think, and purchase directly if you can. Uh so keep that in mind as well. And I'm really so grateful to you're literally looking under the hood here for a whole lot of folks who are otherwise either going to have to forfeit this enjoyment or, as you say, um, you know, take taking shots or pills of this or that before, during, and after consuming, which then almost pathologizes the experience. Like if you're anticipating that it's a problem, such that you have to prevent or mitigate or minimize the problem beforehand during, and then plan on it afterwards, that kind of takes some of the joy away from the experience. It doesn't, it does, it it then doesn't just become this this you know you know delicious um experience. It becomes like questionable. Like, do I should I even be doing this?

SPEAKER_02

So I never thought of it like that, but I I might have to steal that.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, by all means. I'm sure I'm not the first to to to to mention it, but it just you know it just lends itself to reason. Like we I really want folks the the viewers and listeners here have a lot on their minds and on their hearts and their plates and in their checkbooks and so forth. So I really want to do everything that I can to return to normalcy, you know, as best we can with with our life. So with with Alca, there's there's just another way in which we can return to normalcy. So I thank you for this. I thank you for your time, viewers, listeners, I thank you for your time. If this resonates with you, please check the show notes, please reach out. And please reach out or share this with at least six people because one in six people are struggling with fertility challenge. Don't pay attention to, you know, well, this person is in their 20s and this person is in their 40s. It's across the board. Uh, certainly if you know someone who's in their pre-perimenopausal and menopausal time of life, we all know that this that it just creates an added burden for our physiology to detoxify. So, you know, share this with them as well. You'll you'll be able to then raise a toast together for your for your success in helping to mitigate some of the some of the uh you know potential downsides of life when you're going through hormonal changes such as perimenopause. So, Paul, thank you, thank you, thank you. I really appreciate it. You know, we're we're rolling into summer here. We didn't and people really do want to get out and enjoy their social lives. And I really am grateful that you have brought this uh to people's awareness and to people's tables and people's glasses, such that they can go have some fun with friends and family and loved ones.

SPEAKER_02

Thanks, Susan.

SPEAKER_00

My pleasure. So, viewers, listeners, until next time, we always sign off with the little adage class dismissed at Health University.
