Supernatural Season 2, Episode 3, Bloodlust recap 🧛 More vampires (you're welcome, LA), a hunter who's a little too into his job, and Sterling K. Brown stealing every scene as Gordon Walker on Denim-wrapped Nightmares, a Supernatural rewatch podcast.

We're still mourning, the boys are still hunting, and a message on Dad's phone leads them to Red Lodge, Montana (Big Sky Country). A young woman runs terrified through the woods and gets beheaded by a wire, and the Winchesters are on the case. There they meet Gordon Walker (Sterling K. Brown), a charismatic, hardcore hunter who takes an instant liking to Dean. Sam? Not so much. Ellen at the Roadhouse warns them to stay away, and when the boys meet Lenore (Amber Benson, Tara from Buffy), they learn that these vampires aren't what they expected.

Episode Highlights:

  • Fun fact: Jensen is the one who's afraid of clowns in real life (sorry, Sam)
  • The retractable vampire fangs are back, a callback to Dead Man's Blood
  • Gordon telling Dean it's okay to need the job (and Dean eating it up)
  • Sam going out for a soda, with those eerie is-someone-watching-me shots
  • Eli the vampire (Ty Olsson), a big boy we appreciated
  • Gordon's very quotable dead man's blood, bitch
  • Sterling K. Brown making us deeply uncomfortable, which means he nailed it
  • The brothers' tension over what kind of hunters they want to be
  • Dean vs. Gordon: not a fair fight, but it's Dean Motherfucking Winchester

In the lore segment, we dig into historical vampire hunters: the dhampirs of Balkan folklore, born of a vampire parent; the Sabbatarians, who could see invisible vampires because they were born on a Saturday; and the kresnik of Croatian and Slovenian legend. Plus, we check out the Travel Channel's Vampires in America, featuring two guys who say they've found vampires in all 50 states. Leave the vampires alone, guys.

Sam: "I thought you said he was a good hunter."
Ellen: "Yeah, and Hannibal Lecter's a good psychiatrist."

Your turn, hunters: Is Gordon a hunter or a villain? And would you trust a vampire who says she doesn't kill? Tell us in the Spotify comments, leave a rating and review on Apple Podcasts (it's how new hunters find us), or send us fan mail. Bonus points for fandom fun facts we missed.
