Supernatural Season 3, Episode 13, Ghostfacers recap 👻 The whole episode is the Ghostfacers' reality show pilot, shot found-footage style, as Ed and Harry (A.J. Buckley and Travis Wester) lead their crew into the most haunted house in America on leap day, and the Winchesters crash the shoot, on Denim-wrapped Nightmares, a Supernatural rewatch podcast.

Ed and Harry are back from Hell House with a full team: Spruce (Austin Basis), Maggie (Brittany Ishibashi), and sweet Corbett (Dustin Milligan), who is crushing hard on Ed. Every four years, on leap day, the old Morton House becomes the most haunted place in the United States, and the Ghostfacers plan to capture it all on camera. Then Sam and Dean show up, and it turns out the house's ghosts are reliving their deaths on a loop.

Episode Highlights:

  • The found-footage format (and all the bleeped-out cussing, which somehow makes it better)
  • Sweet Corbett panicking on the first floor, bless his heart
  • "Turn the knob!" Harry's hallway freakout
  • Spruce, the ultimate creeper with the camera
  • The clock flipping from 11:59 to midnight (that detail!)
  • A death echo, and a ghost (John DeSantis) who's still punching in for work
  • An ending that made us cry for Corbett
  • The Supernatural credits rolling at the END (because we were watching the Ghostfacers pilot all along)

In the lore segment, we dig into residual hauntings with help from Zak Bagans' Ghost Hunting for Dummies (Bagans, not Baggins, he's not a hobbit): ghosts that replay past events on a loop without interacting with the living, how they differ from intelligent hauntings, and the theory that water might hold the memory.

"Stay. I've been waiting for some new friends." – Freeman Daggett, to Sam (And yes, we tried out sound effects for the first time. You're welcome.)
