Your Body Is Talking: Fran Bailey on Chakra Meditation, Stress & Energy Healing
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
Your body is talking all day long, but most of us only listen when it starts shouting. I’m joined by Fran Bailey, a Cincinnati-based healer, author, trainer, and speaker, to unpack how women can reconnect to themselves through grounded energy work, honest self-inquiry, and a practical approach to chakra meditation that doesn’t require a “quiet mind” to begin.
Fran shares the story of what shaped her work, from growing up in a metaphysical home and expressing herself through dance to a near-death experience at age 12 that shifted her sense of purpose. We talk about how the Shiva Method blends spirituality, body work, connection, and personal development so you can stop living on autopilot and start noticing where your energy is leaking. Along the way, we dig into why comparison and quick self-judgment keep so many women stuck, and why the simplest question can be the most radical: what do I need for me today?
We also go deeper into the mind-body connection and holistic healing. Fran explains how stress and emotional survival mode can show up as physical symptoms, why shame can intensify a health crisis, and how consistent guided meditation can help you clear what you’re carrying. If you’re a highly sensitive person or empath who absorbs everyone else’s moods, you’ll hear clear language for boundaries, energy protection, and what it means to pull your energy back before you spiral into overgiving.
If this conversation helps you breathe a little easier, subscribe so you don’t miss what’s next, share it with a friend who needs a reset, and leave a review so more women can find these stories. What’s one place you know you need to come back to yourself?

Welcome And Meet Fran Bailey
SPEAKER_04Well, hi everyone. Welcome to another episode of Women Like Me Stories in Business. I'm your host, Julie Fairhurst, and today I'm here with Fran Bailey. She is a healer, an author, a trainer, and a speaker based out of Cincinnati, Ohio. Fran helps women and health professionals integrate and heal the body, mind, and soul through her work with the Shiva method. Did I pronounce that right?
SPEAKER_02Yes.
SPEAKER_04Good for me. Her approach blends spirituality, connection, body work, energy healing, self-inquiry, and personal development to help people come back to themselves in a grounded and powerful way. Well, Fran, welcome to Women Like Me Stories in Business. I'm very grateful that you've chosen to be on our podcast.
SPEAKER_00Thank you, Julie. I appreciate it.
SPEAKER_04Okay, well, let's begin with you. So, what led you to the work that you do today as a healer, author, trainer, and a speaker?
SPEAKER_00I think it's been an ongoing process, let's put it that
Near-Death Experience To Energy Healing
SPEAKER_00way. I was very, very young. I, you know, grew up in a metaphysical home, but also a lot of music and dance. My parents were musical and all that stuff. And so fell in love with dance first. And because I love movement, I love music, and I could express myself without talking. So it was a it was a perfect medium for me. Um then I, you know, I well when I was 12, I had a near-death experience. I went to a Christian science camp, and that was when I they believe in positive thinking and metaphysics, and you know, the sort of the bigger picture of life, of course, love and the divine, and that was all always present and always anyway. So the near-death experience was certainly interesting. So that was when you were 12. 12. Wow. Yeah. And I knew I something had shifted, something definitely had changed. I just didn't know what. When you have those experiences, you go through the light and you're not ready, and you see that you know, you see everybody up there and wanting you to come forward. And wow, yeah, it's pretty amazing. And then you're rushed back into your body because they say you're not ready. So I had more to do, and that's sort of been my mission of kind of like figuring out what that is, you know, what that is that I so moving on, became a dancer, did a lot of choreography, dancing, performance, a lot of teaching. And I was teaching some kids at the new school, which is a Montessori school in Cincinnati. And one of the parents is a doctor, was a doctor, is a doctor from South Africa, and was opening an alternative center. And he said, Franny, and I said, What? He said, You can see energy. I went, okay, what's that? You know, that was you know 25 years ago. Yes. So I started training. He said, I want you to work with me and work for me. And I started training with his trainer out of California, Rosen Briere, who's metaphysical intuitive healer, incredible. And I went, oh boy, oh boy, they found me. So the more I did, the more I realized that I'd been a healer many, many times before. And then I got into deep meditation and I had all this insight, and that things went forward. And I I started creating technique called the Shiva method through what was channeled to me in 2002, and pulled the body work together, the meditation, then Ennegram, which is a study of personalities, and then teaching people about love and self-love and divine love in themselves, and sort of that sort of the circumference of the method. So it's a tool and a suggestion for others to heal themselves. So that's kind of a nutshell.
SPEAKER_04Wow. Well, that's that you interesting life in a nutshell. Yes. Yeah. Well, many women are carrying so much in their bodies without even realizing it. How do you see emotional or spiritual disconnection showing up physically?
Returning Home To Your Body
SPEAKER_00Well, I think that women tend to do a thousand things at one time. We can, we're capable of. What we what we don't realize is that we have to come back into home. We have to come back into our body to slow down, to figure out, okay, where where am I? You know, I don't care whether it's take five minutes and lay in the floor. What do I want to do for me today? And I don't care if you're crying for a second or if you just have that five minutes alone, you come back into your body. So this what I teach is how are you navigating? What are you attaching to? How do you navigate your energy? What is your energy? And where is it being depleted? So these are all these questions of okay, so you have to inquire about your own self and how you're conducting your life and all your roles that you are doing. I mean, the speed in which we have to deal with things is just remarkable. And I I'm convinced that if we kind of rework the timing and rework the momentum and we pull it back and say, okay, let's just look at this from this perspective. I don't have to go a hundred percent for everything. How do I reserve my energy?
SPEAKER_03Yes, yeah.
SPEAKER_04Wow. Well, you you I know you just spoke of self-inquiry, but I'm curious about it. So, why is asking ourselves honest questions to to in such a powerful path towards our freedom?
SPEAKER_00Because nobody's gonna do it for you. No one. So it's this blame and shame, and that is self-deprecating.
SPEAKER_03Right.
SPEAKER_00So the self-inquiry is is it's a practice, it's a real practice, and so in the self-inquiry, there is a requirement to love yourself at all times, no matter what is happening in your life, where you what stages of where you are in your life, because that inner self and that inner knowing and that inner love has to be present in order to make changes. And you are you're the only person that can make the changes. So it's it's respectful, it's honoring, it's saying hello to all of you, all of you, the best, the worst, the the maybes, you know, it's all of it. And not apologize for anything.
SPEAKER_04Well, what do you believe most women are afraid to ask of themselves?
SPEAKER_01I think most women are afraid to ask themselves. Let me let me let me rephrase this. I'm gonna try to nail this if I can. I think we tend to compare.
SPEAKER_00And I think we may come to quick judgment when if we look at ourselves and ask the question, well, wait a minute, isn't it you, not someone else, that you're dealing with? Isn't it you that you need to love and really love, not just go through the steps, but really take a breath and say, What do I need for me today? I think that is hard for women to do because the pace, the demands are tremendous. And even when I put my fingers, this is an acupressure point called CV17, which is has to do with the lungs, which has to do with emotions. Even you know, pressing there in the in the sternum, you know, you you have to take a breath almost because you're pushing energy into the body and through the back. I think honoring what you know what you already know is really important because I think most women know so much more than than they may not be aware of. I mean it's it's just it's divine femininity, you know. Yes, and it is, it's just it it and once you tap into that that you're part of the club, so to speak, and and think in terms of energy and uh the expansion of your divine femininity, then things become a little bit easier that you can actually put it in each role as part of you know expanding your consciousness.
SPEAKER_04Well, for someone listening who feels disconnected from herself, where would you suggest she begins?
SPEAKER_00Well, I just did a transformational on my website. It's free, it's self-inquiring, it's very simple, very, very simple. And it has to do with the body, the mind, the heart, and the soul. And it's just simple, simple exercises. And there's links to all my meditations. There's actually some body work for free on the on the first one. But I think as a dancer and someone who observes audience and life as you create, this is the body, this is the instrument, and so when you are performing an emotion in a breath or just a gesture, that alone is divine because it's so simple. And I think that we we, you know, we do our yoga, we do our Pilates, we do our running, we do all those things, but it really boils down to that simple moment and that simple moment of you connecting to you. And so the body work is all about the chakras and breathing into the centers, and what does it feel like to let go of an attachment?
SPEAKER_04Well, what does the body often know before the mind is ready to admit it?
SPEAKER_00Well, it could it could be disease, it could be it could be uh, you know, gut issues, it could be uh skin issues, irritation,
What The Body Knows First
SPEAKER_00you know, you're irritated, lung is emotions, but it's also you know, letting go of severe emotions, kidney is fear, spleen is anxiety, liver is anger. You know, there's a whole meditation I do on that. I don't have that up right now, but it's all about clearing the organs because we hold so much in our bodies. That's why meditation is so important, but studying this instrument is also vital. It's just it's just an amazing piece of it really is. So I'll give you an example of I'd had three children, my father died of cancer, and he's pretty young at 74, and it was very hard on me. And three young kids, my sisters had their children, and my mom was flipping out, and my husband was working away from the house, and a year later I got cancer. So I think if I look at emotions and I look at the body, I think I carried all that survival, which is a survival is first and second chakras, it's about survival. And if you carry the worry and the concern, and oh, I want to leave with him, then emotional despair, it will respond. And I think that's my body just said, okay, that's enough. Stage four, it was contained, but it was, you know, they wanted to take everything out, and I said, No, I'm not gonna do that at my 40s, and they said, Well, you could take everything out and have a tummy lift since you had twins. And I said, I beg your pardon, wow. So I went and found a woman, and she said, You don't have to take everything out, but I had to go every three months to get checked and make sure. But in that time period, I was the guinea pig, and I knew that if I could do this myself and understand the correlation between emotions and the body, and that the body can heal. I did the work through Rosalind, I trained myself through you know, my hands, like my dancing, but I'm dancing with my hands, running energy and doing that for on people and now myself. So actually killing the cancer cells and running energy in that area to say that I am whole, I am loved, I'm not half of me, I'm all of me in this healing moment. And it's pretty powerful. I didn't tell anybody. Oh, you didn't? Oh no. I mean, I didn't tell them what I was doing. I they they didn't I didn't make a big deal out of it because I said because I didn't think it, I just didn't think it was. I mean, I had three babies. I no, I didn't have time. Yes. So basically I did that energy work for every night. And interesting, with cancer, people feel shame. Why do you think they feel shame? Because they're not perfect.
SPEAKER_01Because they're marked.
SPEAKER_00And I learned very quickly that it doesn't matter, this is an interruption in your life, and you will survive and it'll be fine.
SPEAKER_04So, do you think that they feel that they've done something wrong then? Well, how can how can women deal with their emotions? Because I know a lot of us don't even know how we feel half the time.
SPEAKER_00Right.
SPEAKER_01So, what do we do about that?
SPEAKER_00Well, again, it's you have to pull yourself in. You have to go to the inner self. I mean, have fun with other women and talk and communicate and and certainly get what you need out said, you know, walk with women, be with women, I think there's that's very healing. But in the end of the day, you're still living with yourself. Yes, and so if you have a pattern of a continuous emotional response to a certain thing, certain attachment, your relationship with your mother, your relationship with your kid, and it and it perpetuates an emotion, then it might be a good idea if you look at the pattern of how it keeps coming up. So, in this energy work that I do with meditation, I also teach you about how to stay grounded and present in your own body, which means you know you knowing your energy and having that self-talk quietly within. So instead of responding in anger to a conversation, you run it back and you go to the bathroom for a second, and you and you go into a grounding, you ground your ovaries, you ground your whole trunk, calm yourself down and pull your energy back into yourself, walk in the room, and I guarantee you, you will not respond in anger. You will observe. So, is that helpful?
SPEAKER_04Yes, absolutely, for sure. Yeah, yeah. Okay, what what about highly sensitive women? So, how are they misunderstood, or what do they misunderstand about themselves?
SPEAKER_00Highly sensitive women pick up everything.
Empaths Boundaries And Energy Protection
SPEAKER_00I'm certainly hello, yeah, pretty highly sensitive person. And I mean, it's I mean, I see everything, you know, it's anyway. I I just pick it up very, very quickly and as an empath. And so you have to stay grounded, you have to stay present in your energy. Now, when you're an empath, it's just natural you go to that person or a narcissist that wants your energy. You know, they want they pull you in because you they they they want what you have, and they're very manipulative in making that happen. That's happened countless times to me. So the question is with a sensitive person, if you think you are a sensitive person and you react to a certain person that kind of pulls you in, or you go forward with that person, and suddenly you're like in this thing, and you're like, oh my god, well, where am I? And how do I get out? Because you've created this karma, almost karma, you know, this sort of energy between the two of you, until something happen may happen. But when you get pulled by somebody like that, you just have to be really careful and have boundaries down the get-go.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, boundaries are so important.
SPEAKER_00Oh, yeah. So, this when I say energy pulling your energy back, that's that's boundaries, the same principle. Yeah, yeah. So, in the second chakra, which is you know, emotions, creativity, sexuality, all that, when that's wide open, they're all gonna come in. So when you're this sort of vibrant personality and everybody wants that, they're all going to come jumping in because they need that. So you want to keep your second chakra kind of closed a little bit. Not you have to close it down, but just aware that your energy is first.
SPEAKER_04Well, as yeah, and protecting your energy. Yeah. Yeah. Yes. Yeah, for sure. So what patterns do you often see in women who are exhausted from overgiving?
SPEAKER_00Well, it depends on the personality. It's interesting. Some women go deep into depression. They go, they just they don't know what's happening. Some women are anxious, and they get more anxious, so they do more, and they think they're chasing the anxiety, so they do more. And they do more and they do more because they love what they do and they're sort of addicted to what they do. But they're going further and further and further away. And that's that's hard to reel a man and pull them back because until something happens, because they're on this sort of go, go, go, go, go, and they're on this track. And all I'm can say is if you want to get off the track for a second, this might help. Can't make you. No, for sure. Yeah. So I think, or you know, there's the martyr who, you know, gives and gives and gives, and they give more and they give more, and then well, nobody loves me. They want, so it's they get give to get, you know, that kind of thing. Or they get there, they work hard, and that's like the Enneagram, which is the study of personality, they're heart type, body top type, or head type. Right.
SPEAKER_04So why do you think so many women have a hard time receiving support or accepting it?
SPEAKER_00I think that sort of comes from their mother. Comes down through the generations. I think, you know, this new generation coming up, and I think we're learning.
SPEAKER_01We're learning more and more and more because depletion is not fun. It is not fun.
SPEAKER_00And when you have when you are trained or or have yourself practice before you are depleted, understand what that is happening. Or go through it, you're depleted, and then you just come back in very, very quickly and start doing some healing. You know, we all life is life, you know, whatever you've got, whatever it is. You may not be able to do it all then, but afterwards or towards the end of that big project or whatever you're working with. Start thinking about okay, I've got to pull my energy back in so that I can heal. And I have to do the healing.
SPEAKER_04I think it's so interesting because I don't I think that a lot of us don't think about our energy in in that way, the way you're explaining it, which I think is is right. That's exactly the way our energy is. But I think so many of us have are clueless about that.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. So if you ask yourself the question, okay.
SPEAKER_00I notice these certain patterns that I'm doing that do not serve me. What are those patterns? What is it that's not serving me? What is it that pulls me in that direction? So you overview how you're conducting yourself. Not when someone else is telling you, but how you are conducting and responding.
SPEAKER_01And then ask that question, well, I think that takes too much from me. And I think that takes too much from me.
SPEAKER_00How am I going to shift that so that my energy can be more balanced? And that's what you're asking. Yes. Yeah. For sure.
SPEAKER_04Yeah. So guided meditations. So you offer guided guided meditations on your website. So what role does meditation play in healing and self-connection?
SPEAKER_00Okay, the the the
Meditation For Busy Minds
SPEAKER_00meditation is slows you down. It takes 20 minutes at the most, 25 minutes, maybe. Each one has a purpose and a reason. You could do it one day, Monday, you could do it Friday. It could be totally different, but somehow the two are connected because you are continually, you're clearing. So it's consistency of actually doing it again and going through what am I seeing, what am I feeling, what am I hearing? What am I knowing? It's the knowing that gives you the energy.
SPEAKER_04What do you say to people who say, I can't meditate? My mind's way too busy. I got too much going on in there. I can't possibly meditate.
SPEAKER_00Well, that's why I like this meditation because it's very physical. I don't take you out of your body. You have to focus in. Yes. And you focus on each center, what they mean, first chakra, you know, survival, second, creative, third, ego, fourth, heart, fifth speech, intuition, and then spirit. So you're always working in this system. It's just like anything, everything has a chakra system. Everything has energy. So when you think in terms of that, that you're metaphysical shifts and changes can make the can make you shift in a certain way. But the point is, it's there's a whole meditation on focusing and sleep. And you know, get you back in. Where'd you go? I'll get you back in. Yeah. Yeah. Or laugh because you're out and you're somewhere else, and you're in that thought and you're way out of your body, and start laughing at yourself and say, okay, I'll get back in. And let go of that thought.
SPEAKER_04Yeah. Yeah. I I was um in my 30s. I I was in a meditation circle for seven years. And I have always said that it helped me to know who I was on a way different level than yeah. And and strength, all of those kinds of things. It was an amazing experience. And and and I don't meditate as much as I should, but but uh I encourage anybody out there who's never meditated that they really should give it a try because it is it if you want to get to know who you are for myself anyway, that was that was a big thing for me. Oh yeah, absolutely, absolutely, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_00Because we're we are, you know, we are souls that have a body, and your soul is your best friend. Yeah, your soul is your best friend. That soul is with you all lifetimes, yes, and when you really start tapping into that energy, it's again it's the volume, you're expanding your soul.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, yeah. Well, what does empowerment mean to you? Or self-empowerment, I should say. Self-empowerment.
SPEAKER_00Again, it's it's the word judgment is absent, meaning that everything judging everything that you do, empowerment is letting go of attachments and judgment of self and others. Now we all respond, we all judge. I mean, this that's obvious, but as far as holding on to what has to be and what ought to be and what should be is part of part of that expansion so that you can find yourself, you know. As you said, you keep finding new things about yourself. It's it's it's it's the self-deprecation and the judgment that we do is just I just don't know how that happens, but it does.
SPEAKER_03Yes, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_04What about? I remember there was this one lady who came to the meditation circle that I was in, and she it just freaked her out. She couldn't do it. And and so what do you say to, I'm gonna say women, because that's my main audience here. So what do you say to women who might be afraid of what they might uncover?
SPEAKER_00I would say look at the fear, and fear may not be that, it may be something that is inside of you, obviously. But the the fear if you think about the opposite of fear is courage and facing yourself with yourself, nobody else is gonna be around.
SPEAKER_01It's it's the judgment.
SPEAKER_00Somebody else is gonna judge me, or I'm gonna judge myself, and I don't want to know that about myself, so therefore, I'm not free to choose. I'm gonna stay in that fear. That's the choice. I'm I'm making that choice, and that is their choice. If they want to stay in that fear, that's then they go down that, then they stay in that fear. Those that want to step a little bit out, I'm gonna try to help you to move a little bit further and a little bit further, a little bit further. So that fear cord. It's interesting. I do this deep meditation one-on-one with karma cleanse. It's called karma cleanse, and I either I ask you to either do clear karma with a person, an idea, a thought, or you know, something from the past or whatever. It's your choice to do that. So I did that myself on myself, and I put fear, and it's it's there's a whole system where you put it in a circle and then you do arrows and shoot it and move it out of your system, and it's like, oh my god, I had a hundred. You know, so it's it's it's constant, and you you have to keep. And then I did an an ancestry cleanse, which was very interesting. So it's that kind of that fear comes from something else, I think. It comes down through the your ancestry. So generations, generations, and that's fascinating.
SPEAKER_04It's it's a whole nother Yeah, yes, yeah. Well, you have helped hundreds of people for over 20 years. What have your clients taught you about human resilience? Hmm.
SPEAKER_00Anything is possible.
Resilience Purpose And Closing Takeaways
SPEAKER_00Anything is is probable. I mean, I have seen and witnessed many changes, and and the beauty is that I'm just here to facilitate. The beauty is in them, and the light that comes out with them, the the light that shines, it's like, oh my god, I can breathe. I can be with me, you know, and be okay. That to me is that's all there is.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, of course, love. Yes. Yeah. Yeah.
SPEAKER_04Well, what did your near-death experience teach you? Or how did it help you shape, how did it help shape your life? Because that happened when you were so young. Mm-hmm.
SPEAKER_00How did that shape my life? Well, you know, when you're 12, you don't think about it until I didn't think about it until later. I just, especially at the Christian science camp, you don't talk about that kind of stuff. You just you're already in divine. They don't fear death, they don't fear anything. But you're of course, I'm I was my I was in a canoe accident and my foot got caught between two canoes and went under, and you know, saw the light and all this that I survived. And that I'm here to do something. I didn't know what quite was, but now I know. Yeah. I'm here to share, I'm here to serve, here to carry the divine energy as much as I can to others.
SPEAKER_04Yeah. Well, that's a beautiful lesson to be taught from it. Yeah, yeah, for sure. Yeah. Well, Fran, I appreciate you being here so much. I just want to let everyone know that we will have links to to find Fran and her website and her meditations. So don't be shy. Don't be afraid to reach out. And if you have any questions, you can of course reach out to her. Fran, what is the simplest self-inquiry question listeners could ask themselves today?
SPEAKER_01Um the question I would ask is where is the trust and love? And how do I keep it?
SPEAKER_03Oh, that is good. Yes. Yeah, absolutely. Yeah.
SPEAKER_04Well, what is it, what is your most excitement or what are you most excited to share and teach or create next? What's your what's your next thing you're up to?
SPEAKER_00Oh, well, I'm gonna get them I'm working on getting the method accredited. Yeah. Which has been many years and is it's time to do that, which is fun. And of course, every client I have is always a joy. And just speaking to people who are on a conscious path is certainly rewarding. And my daughter's getting married in September. I was just, you know, I just was a grandmother a year ago. So all those life things are happening, which is marvelous. Yes, fabulous.
SPEAKER_04Yes, yes. Well, congratulations. That's wonderful. Yeah, yeah. Well, everyone, that is it. We could go on and and listen to Fran and and get more wisdom from her, but we're done, unfortunately. But you're going to be able to reach out to her. So it doesn't end here. So you just go into the show notes. We will have all sorts of information for you. And and if you've never meditated, give it a shot, you know, give it a try. And you'll be surprised. It's it's actually quite a beautiful, amazing thing to do. So yeah. Well, friends, thank you so much for being here. I appreciate it. And yeah, I'm gonna head over to your website myself and snoop around. Oh, great. Well, thank you, Julie, so much. And take care of yourself. Thank you. Thank you. Okay, everyone. Thank you for being here for this episode of Women Like Me Stories and Business. And we'll see you all again next time. Take care, everyone. Bye bye.
