In this episode we are celebrating the 1st birthday of The Restored Mind!Tomorrow, November 30th is the official birthday date of TRM.  A year ago the very first episode was launched and I had no idea what would become of this journey. I had a lot planned out and nothing went according to plan. Instead, I am sharing a message God's placed on my heart to share with you.

I am answering the questions:
1. Why the Restored mind?
2. What is the meaning behind the name?
3. What does it look like to have a renewed mind?

Thank you for your support and encouragement. Happy 1st birthday, TRM!

So grab your water, or whatever you like to drink, throw on your walking shoes, and let's get going because it's always 4. 13. Hello and welcome to the restored mind podcast. My name is Caroline. How are you doing today? My friend. I cannot believe that we are already at the end of November. I feel like this month. Just flew by and I don't even know how to wrap my mind around it, but I am excited to be here with you today. If you are a returning listener, thank you so much for taking the time out of your day in choosing. To be here with me as we just chat about whatever the daily topic is. I really appreciate your presence here. And my hope is that you continue to stay encouraged and inspired by what you hear. If you are a new listener, welcome aboard the restored mind family. My hope is the same for you, that you would be encouraged and inspired on your mindset journey to look to God in the midst. Of all that is going on in your life. Here at the restored mind podcast, we are looking at mindset transformations from a world lens and into a faith lens. Where we are growing stronger in our faith and allowing that to change us so that we can be at peace and have joy in our life because. That's what we want. Right. We want peace and joy. So with that being said, this episode actually marks the first birthday or the one-year anniversary of the restorative mind podcast. I can't believe it's already been a year. Time has flown by so fast a year ago today. The very first episode of this podcast was launched and I wanted to do something amazing to celebrate this particular day. I have so many things lined up. I had every intention for this episode to retell my journey and share the major wins that I had. The struggles that I went through and how I overcame them. I even had a titled ready for this episode. I wanted to celebrate in a way that was going to be in my eyes. Great. In amazing. While there have been so many milestones that have been met. God is telling me that I am to share a different message with you. So I'm going to be doing just that today because I feel like I would be doing him a disservice. If I did not share with you what he's placed on my heart. It has absolutely nothing to do with what I originally wanted to share, but I do remember promising to myself in speaking to God that. He would be the one leading this and I would simply just follow. So here I am. Doing just that. I'm going to follow. At least for now the conversation on milestone Major wins and struggles are going to have to wait another day because this topic is something. That has been pressing on my mind. The question that I have been pressed to answer is why the restorative mind. What is the meaning behind the restore mind's name and why does it carry the meaning that it does? What does it look like to have a renewed mind? And today's episode I'd like to share with you why it is so important that we work. Daily to be in the word of God. So that our minds can be renewed. I believe that it starts with the flesh, because Jesus said to his disciples in the garden up guest 70. Watch and pray that you may not enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak. For reference, you can look at Matthew chapter 26, verse 41. You see, our flesh is weak. We've been born as sinners. All of us, no matter how hard we try, we could never be perfect. It. Hertz when you are a recovering perfectionist, too. That you cannot be perfect, but it is true. None of us are perfect. We fall into temptation time and time again. We allow our emotions to take over and we react with our emotions fully intact. Not bringing it to God first. And sometimes we say things that we don't mean, or we do things that we end up being disappointed in ourselves for later, or we're disappointed in others. There are many times when we've let others down. We're not perfect. And no matter how hard we try, we could never be. We also in our Fleshlight to live in this role to, because we've been born in this world by the flesh. We love to be comfortable and satisfied. It's the most easiest thing for us to do is to take the easiest route because it requires less energy. We don't really have to exert ourselves as much. At least our flushed doesn't like to exert itself. It doesn't like to be discomforted or have boundaries pushed. We like things that are simple and easy. So when you continue to give into your flesh, you actually end up slowing yourself down. Say for example, if you're on a fitness journey and you simply don't like working out for no other reason, then. You. You. don't feel like it. And you consistently give into that temptation. You're going to realize that the resource. That you were searching for. It's not going to be By self and it probably. Most likely we'll take you. Longer to achieve. Chief these It's because you didn't do what needed to be done in the first place. Does that make sense? And it goes with anything in life, not just for fitness, it's really anything that you want to accomplish? So when you continue to give. And to the temptations of your flesh, you end up stopping yourself from achieving the growth that you want to see happen. And it works against the holy spirit who is trying to help you grow. Our flesh likes to be comfortable. It doesn't like to be challenged. But again, Jesus says, watch and pray that you may not enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak. The flesh is what gives into temptation. The spirit is what's going to lead you out of it. It is willing. So it's a fight against your flesh. you might be asking, what do you mean by the flush? And if you're thinking of something that is physical, like your physical appearance, your body in the flesh. Yes, my friend. That is what I'm talking about. I mean your physical appearance. a thing that will eventually. Not be here on earth once you pass. It is our body and also our human nature. We naturally want to survive. I'm not talking about the intrusive thoughts that may come to mind. At one point or another in your life, or maybe even now the thoughts that are telling you that if you weren't here, no one would miss you and no one would notice or that you were unworthy and unseen or that you're unloved. Those are not what I'm talking about. Those are not survival thoughts. They are intrusive and invasive. Thoughts. I am talking about your body in the flesh naturally wants to survive because if you really think about it, When you are hungry, your body tells you that you're hungry when it's time to eat your body. Lets you know that it's time to eat. It's telling you that you need food because you're running out of. Energy to burn as fuel for your body, so to speak. And so if you continue not to feed your body, it's going to end up eating away at itself. As a reserve fuse, as a means to survive in our sleep, our body is still fighting to survive. Think about how our lungs work. It's bringing oxygen into our body and into our brain. Our hearts continue to pump blood throughout our body. So it physically doesn't rest our bodies. I physically does not rest, but our minds need rest. That's why we sleep so that we can feel rested in the morning. our minds can take on what the world tells us. And unfortunately we will end up believing in these things and giving into the feel-good feeling of something that is instantaneously going to satisfy us in a way, say, for example, you know that you shouldn't be buying purses or shoes, and yet you still do because it instantly gives you this sense of satisfaction. We're going to. To think that we deserved it and make up an excuse of some kinds saying that maybe we worked hard and it justifies our means for the action that we've taken. if we're lashing out because we're angry at whatever the situation is, The world, even ourselves can tell us that the person we lashed out at deserved it because they're the ones that caused us this pain or this frustration that we feel. What you feed your mind and what you allow yourself to continue to see your mind will believe. It is. The most powerful. Oregon in your body, at least in my opinion, that's what I believe. Because your thoughts dictate your mindset and yes, your mind that does create your thoughts. But ultimately it is up to you to decide if you believe it or not. You can change this at any time on your journey, no matter what journey you're on or any season of life that you're in, you can change your mindset. You can absolutely take your thoughts captive. Paul writes in two Corinthians, we destroy every arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God and take every thought captive to obey Christ. Why. Because we are at a constant spiritual warfare for the mind. God wants your mind. He's after your mind and your heart. He wants your mind, because if he can restore and renew your mind, he has your heart. You can be transformed in that conformed to the world. Uh, so says enrollments two 12. And your soul would be saved. You would be able to spend eternal with God. If the world has your mind, it contained it with whatever it wants and you will sway whichever way the world's ways. there would be no anchor to keep you. God wants your mind he's after your mind, because. If he can have your mind, he can renew it and transform your heart. To be set apart from the world. It's so important to keep that in mind, because we are at a constant spiritual warfare for the mind. And it is why I believe that it begins with the flesh. Because it is with the flesh where we have our hardest battle. Not giving into the temptation, just because it's right in front of us, not speaking out of anger because we want it to be right. And we want to be heard. And we want it to be the one with the last word, into an argument. I am speaking on that because I used to be that person. Definitely speaking from experience here. And it is not my most proudest moments, but it has been a part of my journey. I speak on this, not to brag. Definitely not to brag because it is not my proudest moment, but I want to share with you. What it will look like when the world has a hold of your mind. There was a season in my life. I walked in my own wilderness is. It was dark and I was going through some internal struggles. I wanted to feel good about myself. And if you followed me, you know, my fitness journey, but if you're new here it started out in vain and had nothing to do with God. I only wanted physical results. And one day I was scrolling through Instagram, looking for videos that were encouraging and what uplifted me or motivate me. To get off there and work out. And I was also looking for. fitness influencers who were sharing their workouts. So that I can have an idea of what I wanted my workouts to look like. Well, there was this video clip that I came across and it talked about a sponge. Now I apologize in advance. I can not remember the page or the person who spoke about this, but he painted this imagery, this comparison of a sponge to our mind. And in paraphrasing this, he says, what the sponge soaks up. It will release when you squeeze it, which is very similar to how our minds work. So what you soak up, you will release under pressure again. I'm paraphrasing here and I apologize for not being able to credit the man who gave this example, but I'm sharing it with you because it's stuck with me. And it's been with me ever since. So my friend. I have to ask you. What is it that you're taking in? How can you improve on what comes out when you're under pressure? Do you release Clearwater or has it been tainted? I believe these are very important questions to explore. When you are walking a journey, shifting your mind from the world and into your faith journey. We can not do it alone. We are imperfect by nature. We fall short of God's expectations. We give into temptations more times than we like to admit at least. I know that I do. And so. It is good that we are not expected to be perfect. God has already sent the one who did that for us. And his name is Jesus by ourselves. We would continue to squeeze out tainted water, even if we try our absolute hardest. To be as pure as we possibly could be. But we can rest and know that. When we are in alignment with God, when we seek his kingdom and love him above all else. When we set our minds on things above. We can be made pier because then our heart posture has been aligned with God's will, but only through God's grace, are we able to receive that? In the book of John chapter, one talks about how the word became flesh. In verse 14, it reads and the word became flesh and dwelt among us. And we have seen his glory. Glory as of the only son from the father. Full of grace and truth.. What's a beautiful reminder that Jesus took on flesh to be with us. He came from our father, the only son from the father who is full of grace and truth. And while he was here on earth during his ministry, he showed us what life of obedience would look like. He taught us how to love and how to forgive. He healed the sick for the hungry. His ministry was really about serving. He served. People. That God loves. We also know that he often moved you to pray. And what I am trying to say is Jesus led by example. So in our flesh, when we are looking for a role model to look at in the world, When we are trying to find someone that we can look up to, we are going to find that they have faults too, especially then when we put them on the pedestal and we think that they can do no wrong, we would be. Sadly mistaken because everybody is flawed. But Jesus led by example, and he is the spotless lamb. He carried out God's will. Perfectly. And so I would highly suggest. Looking to Jesus. If you're looking for someone. To model yourself after when we live our life seeking approval from the world, wanting to impress the world with the tangible things that we have, or make a great name for ourselves. We ended up putting ourselves first, when we give into temptation, we put ourselves first. Any time. God has become second in our life. We put ourself first. It is what the flesh naturally wants to do. It wants to be self exalting, meaning. It wants to be glorified in worship by our own self. And it's boosted when we have other people come alongside us who support us, who joins us and compliments us and tells us that we're doing all these great and wonderful things. Now. I'm not saying that you cannot have anyone support you. Or that you cannot accept compliments from others. But what I am suggesting that maybe you reflect on. Is asking yourself, if you are relying on these things to continue to motivate you. If you're relying on compliments and continued support to be fulfilled. My question is how can they be pleasing in God's eyes? If we are solely looking for approval from the world. If we're stuck. On trying to impress the world. THat means that the world's opinion matters more than what God has said. I remember my friend. He wants to be number one in your life above all outs. That is why having a restorative mind is so important. The restore mine is about moving from the Worldway and realigning yourself with God's will. To do that. We would need to read scripture daily, engage in your reading, pray before and after you read, reflect on what stuck out. And I would even suggest journal what comes to your mind, even if it's a verse that needs stuck. Out to you. Write it down, pray over it, pray through it. The holy spirit will show you what needs to change in your life. He's going to reveal these things to you. The question is, are you willing to make these necessary changes? As you spend more time with God, and as you grow your relationship with him and become more intimate with him. You will learn to hear his voice. And obey his voice. Now I know that not many people like to hear the word obey because we like to think that we are our own authority, then no one else can tell us what to do and in the world's eyes and in our own flesh mind. Yeah, maybe we do. But. As someone who is working on our mindset, journey to be renewed and transformed we have boundaries given to us by God. It's imperative that we understand that we're not the one with the final say, so And it's a huge one for us when we can learn to acknowledge and accept that and go with it because we know that we can. Follow the footsteps of Jesus and still be in peace and have joy in her life. The restorative mine is about living a life of peace and joy. And to do that, to get these things, we must go to the one who gives us that. We can go into the world and search for it, but we will often find ourselves feeling like we got the short end of the steak or that. We're never fully satisfied and we're going to continue to keep searching for that thing that just fulfills us. Jesus says. Everyone who drinks of this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks, the water that I will give him. We'll never be thirsty. Again, the water that I will give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life. this is when Jesus talking to the Samaritan woman who. Is. getting water from the well that is in the ground. You can find this in John chapter four, verse 13, and I would highly recommend that you read the context around us so that you can get a full idea, full picture of what Jesus was talking about and what was going on in that story. When we live in the world, we are easily swayed by the world. So why the restore mind. Well, my friend, we all need restoration in our life. Because we all have gone through hard times. And most of us are likely battling something right now, whether it's spoken or unspoken. In a hard times, we are looking for a way out desperately looking for a way out, wanting peace. Wanting somehow for the situation to be resolved. The burden to be lifted off of us. The truth is life is hard. And we can either stay down when it kicks us. Or make the choice to restore the physical portion of us that plays a huge role in how we view things and how we approach all situations. The meaning behind the restorative mind tells a story of how you can grow from a toxic or worldly mindset into one that is based off kingdom. Truce. Where peace and joy and ultimately freedom is given to you. I know, I can see here and share with you all the things that I went through during the season of my life, but I'm not going to do that today. Today. I just want to encourage you. And I want you to be encouraged that whatever journey it is that you're on. However your story is being written. No, that you can go from having a negative mindset into a positive one. The restore mind is for all of us. It is a collection of all of our stories of all of our accounts on how God plays an epic role in our journey. He has been moving parts all along. When we have felt like we're stuck in our situation. The more that we see come. The more that we set our mind on things above the more that our minds are being renewed. The stronger it becomes God's light is so strong that no darkness can overtake it. So whatever darkness is in your mind or whatever darkness is in your life right now. Let God's light shine. And no darkness shall overcome that. when You begin to live in a restorative mindset. You start to reprioritize. What matters according to the will of God. You are working daily towards changing what you want to become to honor God so that you can do what is pleasing to him. Therefore you are fighting against your flesh. You are praying without ceasing. Because you don't want to fall into temptation. My friend. I hope that this episode has been powerful for you, and that it has been an encouraging episode for you. I had other plans to share other things on this podcast as a celebration for the restored minds, first birthday, but. This is what God's placed in my heart to share with you today. And like I said earlier, I'm just going to follow. As we wrap up today's episode, I would be remiss if I didn't thank you for being a part of this journey. Thank you for your encouragement during this first year. Thank you for being a part of this family for continuing to show up whether or not you are engaged with me on social media or in person, or if you're a silent listener. Thank you. I appreciate you being a part of the restored mind family. When this whole thing started coming together. I didn't know what would happen. And honestly, I almost did not launch this podcast because the day before the launch, I was faced with an overwhelming amount of doubt. And so I thank you. Thank you for your obedience to what the Lord has for you. I knew that in the hard times, it's hard to see the light, but my friends, if you seek God's face, you will find him. He will reveal himself to you. It's hard. When you think that you are on this journey alone, but you are not, when you're fighting against your flesh, it can be hard, but my friend, you can do hard things. Hey, thank you for listening. If this episode has spoken life into you or your mindset transformation journey, please share it with a friend. The growth of this podcast is possible through you. So thank you for your support and for being a part of the family. I look forward to talking to you again next week here on the Restored Mind Podcast.
