I'm so happy that you're here. If you are a new listener, welcome to the restored mind family here at the restored mind podcast, we are talking about mindset transformations that come from. A faith lens. So we're looking at scripture to help us. Renew our mind and transform us from the inside out. If you are a returning listener, thank you so much. My friend, that you are making the choice every week to be here with me, I'm super excited and very honored just to have all of you here with me today. So last week we talked about why asking for help is hard and the truths that you can find in scripture. To help remind you that needing and asking for help or even accepting help is not at all a bad thing. If this is something that you find that you're struggling with, or maybe I said something that resonates with you, I highly recommend that you take a listen to that episode. It's a good one. It's a short one, but it's a good one this week. We are going to be talking about in the waiting. We're going to talk about what to do while we wait and why it can be so hard for us to be in the season of waiting. I thought that this. Topic was so fitting for what's happening in my personal life right now. And it's that I'm at a season of change and. It requires a lot of waiting. If you don't already know, my husband is in the service and we are getting ready for a big move. We're moving across the country to the other side of the coast. And if you know anything about the service. Or if you've even been in that organization, there's a lot of waiting that happen. So right now we know where we're going, but we don't know when we need to be there. And so it can become hectic, right? It's hard to plan to because we don't know how to coordinate all the big moving parts that are needed for us to move our little family across the country. And sometimes it can get a little bit scary, but as my husband likes to say, all of these worries are self-inflicted. Which is true, but in my state of mind, and just thinking about. All the things that need to happen. I know that in my flesh, I cannot help but worry, but my husband does bring up a good point and that this worry that I have is self-inflicted. And I believe that a lot of us can actually resonate with being in a season of transition or in a season of waiting, or maybe even both. And right now I'm in a season of both of transition and a waiting. So it's, I can get a little bit frustrating. So, what do we do? While we wait. First, let me clarify this. My season of waiting is not only limited to a move or this particular topic. I want you to think about your season right now that you're in. Where in your life have you gone? weary where in your life have you become frustrated? Galatians six nine says let us not become weary in doing good for at the proper time. We will reap a harvest if we do not give up. And yes. This is talking about your spiritual growth, but I believe that it can also be applied into your daily life. Do not give up. Continue to do good. Continue to put in work. And don't give up. To become weary is to be tired or exhausted. And there are times where we can feel like we're just waiting on our storm to pass and it feels like it's never ending or maybe, or gearing up for a storm because we know that there's one coming and as we prepare for it, We become exhausted because there's so much work involved. Now I can't see you, but I can imagine that this is resonating with you in some way, perhaps, maybe even started grabbing your attention in this moment. As you're thinking about what is making you become exhausted and tired and the season of your life. So, what do we do? Well, we continue to work. Working is not always about making big moves or seeing the big changes in a short amount of time. It's about. Working where you've been planted. And right now. I don't know when I'm moving, but I do know that right now, I'm still planted here and there's still work that needs to be done. And Psalms 37 7 says be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him. Do not fret when people succeed in their ways. When they carry out their wicked schemes. How often is it that you're looking at someone else's success or progress, and you think that you've fallen behind somewhere? As my little family and I prepare a move. I find that there is blessings, there are many blessings in the waiting. We are currently not pressed for time. Right. And so that means that we get to spend a little more time or reminiscing at all of the years that we've had in this house. That's been filled with so much love and many challenges. Of course. A lot of laughter and all the wonderful memories of just watching our kids grow. There's a lot of things that we've come across where we. think back on a particular season and one of our child's life. my daughter aria, loves to leave little notes all over the house and I'm finding them as I'm cleaning up or as I'm moving things around and packing things up. And I can't help, but think how this season will end when she gets to a certain age. So while there is frustration and not knowing a date, they're still a huge blessing. And being able to take our time, because we don't know when we're moving, it's not always about rushing to get things ready, but about being in the moment. And I feel like this is the perfect opportunity to share that. Revelation that I had with you, because it's so easy for us to. Rush ourselves into getting to a certain point because we want to try and be ready. When maybe the lesson all along was just to be in the moment. I know that the same can be true with you. While you are in the waiting, don't look at someone else's life and then compare it to yours. Enjoy the blessing of being where you're at. I know that spring is right around the corner. And so if you're on a fitness journey, the temptation is to rush yourself, to look a certain way before all the shorts and the swimwear to come out. And it can feel like someone has made more progress than you. When you start looking around and seeing what changes everyone else has been doing. That is a good recipe to get yourself into a comparison mindset, which you do not want to be in because you will lose focus. Maybe the blessing and the season is for you to just simply be grateful that your body is able to do what it can do. And for the changes that are happening internally inside of you. I know for me, when I started my fitness journey, I was all about the physical appearance and I didn't really appreciate all of the things that were happening internally to me. I know that sounds very. Silly for me to say. But as someone who struggled with having a toxic negative mindset, I always wondered. Why wasn't able to have these things and question my lack of having stuff or being incapable of things. When the matter of the fact is that I was very capable. I just don't want to apply myself because I had a negative mindset. I think that I was created to be just one way. When the truth is that there was so much room for me to grow. I wasn't able to see that until I started diving into, the word And just allowing myself to be transformed. When I was reading scripture. So, yes, I know that the frustration and the temptation is to rush ourselves, to get to a certain point in our life. But maybe it's just about being. In the moment. If you are a new mom, Or a mom in general and you're exhausted from lack of sleep. And as you start to look around at other moms and you see them gracefully moving about their day. maybe you're thinking perhaps there's something wrong with you because you're not gracefully moving on about your day and I'll let you in on a secret. Most of us. We don't have it together. We don't move as gracefully as you're seeing us. We thank you for that compliment for that thought. But the reality is that. Nobody has it all together. There's some things in our life where we struggle in. And I know that as a mom Of young kids or even a mom with children at a teenage years or newborn moms. It's all hard at different seasons of our life. And it's so easy to wish those days away, but the blessing I want to remind you that the blessing is that we are in these moments with our children, whether they are newborns or toddlers or teenagers, or maybe all three of them, the temptation is to wish those sleepless nights and these. Growing pains away, but the blessing and the beauty is in the here and now. In the moments of these hard times. I hope that you find the love of God over you and your family. And it's not only in the times where there's. Genuine laughter and love and peace in the house, but that it's always there for you. So, yes, while in the waiting we continue to work. Even though it can get frustrating. You can also continue to trust and pray. My friend. Do not stop praying. It is so powerful. It's definitely not magical. It's not going to erase the difficulties that come with waiting, but it does show. Your strengths and in who you rely on, it shows that your strength. Comes from God. And that you rely on him to carry you hour by hour, day by day. It does. Help you grow your trust in him as well. And it does help you grow your trust in the Lord As you lift your exhaustion over to him. Psalms 23 is a beautiful song about how good the Lord is. I love that in verse two and three, it says he makes me lie down in green pastures and leads me beside still waters. When you picture that in your mind, does that sound. Peaceful and quiet and calm. Like that's the place that you want to be. My friend, when I think about this, I think about how beautifully written that was because the world's could be a desert around you and with the Lord, you can have green pastures and still waters, Where you can rest and be fed. That is so beautiful that in the Lord we have that. Waiting can be hard because by nature, we always have to be in the know so we can adjust accordingly or plan accordingly at least. That's my reason why it's hard to be in the waiting season. And maybe for you, it's the same as well. Right? We like to be in the know because we are planners. We are someone who coordinates. We are the ones who put things together so that we can have our peace of mind and knowing that. All of these things have been set before us, before we go. But the truth is that. There could possibly be a time where you have all of these things lined up and then it doesn't go according to plan. Right. We can not be our own savior and know that things are going to happen exactly as we planned it. Now we may hope for the best, but the reality of that actually happening might not be the case. And so. Even if we did know, right. If we are in the waiting and we have all the answers. How do we know that it's going to go exactly as we planned. That's where my husband says that my worry is self-inflicted because even if I did know the stress of this timeline would still stress me out. And so maybe the same as for you, even if you did know maybe the stress of knowing it's going to also stress you out. It's hard to be in a season of waiting because we might be seeing the people around us just progressing in something similar that we're aiming for. And it's hard to not be tempted to think that you're doing something wrong or that you're falling behind, or to even feel rushed to achieve something, because you're noticing that everyone else around you is also making this great progress. And you feel like you haven't. Made that progress. It's hard because we don't like to work what we've been planted. I think that a lot of us can resonate with that. Right. We think that we need to go somewhere else and do all of these things instead of focusing on where we've been planted. A lot of us are in the mindsets that we have to do something great and amazing when the truth is that. We need to simply just work where we've been planted. We just simply need to work and be in the moment of what is here and now. And maybe it's not only that, but to learn, to be joyful in our work, the work that we're doing. It might not always seem like it's the most fun thing to do, and it might become really mundane and boring, but it's in these moments where you grow and learn it to have this appreciation for what is. There are blessings in the waiting, my friend, and it can be hard to see it. Especially when it can seem like the work we're putting in isn't quote, doing anything. And I'm doing these air quotations again. When we're putting in the work and we're not doing anything. Magnificent. But trust in the Lord. We don't always have to understand his way or his timing. As a matter of fact, even if we try, we probably wouldn't be able to. At least not always. But we do know that he is a good, good shepherd, and I would refer you again to Psalms 23. It's such a beautiful, beautiful song. as a little girl, I remember gardening with my aunt and I used to hate it by the way, because it was not my thing. I did not look forward to being in the garden and the hot sign and just. Working away, in the heat, But I do remember that there was a summer afternoon where she was tending to her garden. I was out there helping her at least trying to help her. And she explained to me that sometimes. The plants don't need it to have the dirt soften. So I didn't necessarily have to go and air rate the ground. around the plant that was growing. Because they didn't need it. She said that sometimes all the plants need are the grass and the weeds to be removed so that it can breathe and grow. So my friend, I leave you with this. What weeds in your mind? Do you need to remove so that you can breathe? And work where you've been planted. And grow. Yes, it's hard, but my friend, you can do hard things. Thank you so much for taking the time out of your day to listen in on this episode. I meant what I said. You can do hard things, so don't let the daily challenges stop you from reaching your greatest potential.
