I’m so excited you’re here! This is your go-to podcast for moms who want to overcome self-doubt by growing closer to God. You’ll learn how to apply the word of God to your daily life so you can feel purpose-FILLED in who you are.
Hi, my name is Caroline—mom, wife, and Jesus follower. I’ve struggled for much of my life to show up confidently in the many roles I play. I got stuck in the comparison mindset, lost sleep because of stress, and felt guilty for wanting to do more than just “be a mom.” Ultimately, I wondered why I wasn’t growing in my faith.
I realized that, in order to have the confidence I wanted, I needed to stop relying on the world for assurance.
I began reading the Bible and making intentional time for God. Focusing on my faith gave me clarity in my purpose, renewed my mind, and restored my confidence in who I am. This was a game changer because this freedom allowed me to nurture my children and help cultivate their faith as well.
If you’re ready to finally have sustainable confidence as a Christian mom—one who leads her kids to have a heart after God, builds a routine that fits your unique lifestyle, and grows in your relationship with God—then this podcast is for you! Grab your Bible, bring your kids along, and let’s grow together.

111 | Is Waiting On God A Good Thing? Why It Can Help You Overcome Doubt As A Mom
Hey Mama!
In this episode, we dive into the powerful lesson of trusting in God's timing, especially during seasons of doubt, overwhelm, and waiting. When we're feeling stuck or like the needle isn't moving, it's easy to want immediate answers, but learning to embrace the discomfort and slow down can lead to incredible growth and peace. This episode is a gentle reminder that in the midst of waiting, we can grow, trust, and move forward, even if it's just by a small inch at a time.
Key Takeaways:
- Embrace Waiting: Trust that everything happens according to God's timing. Waiting may feel difficult, but it’s an opportunity to deepen your faith and patience.
- Surrender Control: Let go of the need to force things to happen and learn to trust God with your plans, big or small.
- Practice Godly Patience: Shift from worldly impatience to a more peaceful, trusting patience that comes from God's wisdom.
- Return to the Word: Let Scripture, like Psalm 23, remind you of God's goodness, guiding you through times of uncertainty.
- Trust the Process: Even when progress feels slow, small steps forward are still steps toward growth.

"I can do all things through Him who strengthens me"- Philippians 4:13

Hey, mama. Are you tired of battling your own mind with self-doubt and imposter syndrome? Have you ever wondered if you are enough? If you ever said yes to any of these? Let's uproot all of that and start rebuilding the framework for you to get God-centered confidence. My name is Caroline Tao. I'm your host for the Restored Mind, and I'm so excited that you're here Are you ready? Let's go. I'm hosting a live workshop on April 14th at 10:00 AM Pacific standard time where I'll be hanging out with you on Zoom for 40 awesome minutes. Imagine having such incredible breakthroughs as a mom that you began to show up with unshakable confidence even when you're not feeling your absolute best. And yes, my friend, it is absolutely possible to do that. I am going to take you through my four step process on how you can hear from God. We're going to be growing together and fellowshipping with one another. I'm also giving away a daily gracing company gift card, which by the way is not sponsored or endorsed by the company in any way. But I really just want to give you something as a thank you for showing up to register. The link is gonna be in the show notes and it's absolutely free. So come and hang out with me. I can't wait to kick off this workshop with you. See you there. Last summer I spent time in the desert when my family and I were driving across the country for our big move. we've lived in North Carolina for 10 years, and then relocated to the Bay Area here in California last summer. Now, I can't believe that we've actually been here for almost a year, to be completely honest with you. But time has been flying by. We've just really been enjoying all of the outdoor activities that California has to offer and has been such an incredible sight to see. But what I often do is I reflect back on my time in the desert because it was this past summer where doubtful thoughts were incredibly intrusive. I've had this podcast now for two years, and last summer was when I really began to wonder if I was good enough to keep it going. There were so many thoughts that kept running in my mind. It made me question myself and my abilities, to be honest with you, the desert Heat, the Baron scenery, just honestly seemed to sum up my thoughts exactly. It was like I was literally seeing what I was feeling from the doubt and fear that continuously crept into my mind over the summer. I remember looking out into it was, seemed like endless sand and desert plants. It looked like there was no life out there. And that's exactly how I felt internally. Like the life inside of me was getting sucked out from being consumed with the thoughts of doubt and fear. And it seemed like no matter what I was doing, I couldn't move the needle. So here's one thing. Being in the desert taught me because I believe it's going to help you refocus your mind and honestly check your heart. So what's that one thing? It is that? Everything happens according to God's timing. Now, I know you've heard that before, and that's probably not the most comforting thing that you're wanting to hear in the moment, especially as you're desperately searching for answers in a way to become unstuck, right? But when doubt takes over, when you're feeling like you just don't have the answers to move on, when you're feeling overwhelmed and you're looking for a way out, it can be incredibly hard to be at peace with what I just said, which is everything happens according to God's timing, and the reason why is because the results or the answers that you want, you want them as soon as possible. Maybe you're like me out in the desert waiting and hoping for a breakthrough, but that doesn't happen. Or did it. See, I wanna offer you this mindset shift that is going to change how you navigate through doubt. I want you to think about what good has been given in the midst of your hard season. When you're waiting for the answer, my friend, remember God, look for him. And at the hard times, see when I was panicking in the desert, wondering where the restored mind was headed and what would be next. I was waiting for. This big sign that would have neon flashing lights pointing me in the direction that I needed to go in because I wanted to know for sure. I wanted to be absolutely certain where I was going and what exact steps to take so that I wouldn't mess up. But there was a breakthrough which was that I needed to learn to be okay with the discomfort so that I can grow through them. And that is what I wanna offer you today, mama. A moment for you to reflect and truly ask yourself if you're fighting against learning to embrace the discomfort of the season that you are in, and perhaps that is what's stopping you from growing through this hard season. See, waiting is hard. Waiting on God can be incredibly difficult. As moms, we have busy schedules to maintain outside of our own personal schedule. Most of you are probably masterminds of your entire family schedule, meaning you take everyone's activities and you plug it into this grand calendar so that no one misses a practice, a meeting, and so on and so forth. On top of that, you're making sure that dinner is prepped or cooked before a certain time, especially if you know that you have a busier day ahead of you. Now, this is just an example of course, but Everyone's life is busy and with that comes the pressure to get things done quickly. If you think about it, you have probably searched or you are searching for quick dinners on Pinterest or quick snack ideas that you can prep as you and your family are on the go to practice. Essentially, what I am getting at is that time is short for many of us. With that comes the pressure to get things done quickly. You might also find as you're reflecting on whether or not you're embracing the discomfort of waiting on God, that you want to be in control. So you end up quote, helping God by rushing or taking things into your own hands. Now you can't see me, but I'm raising my hand because I am absolutely 100% guilty of quote, helping God by trying to take control of things. But waiting is actually a really good thing. It deepens your trust and it teaches you to slow down. When you embrace the discomfort and truly bring yourself to a place of being at rest, there is less and less quote, forcing things to happen. Waiting on God is not the norm. It is not something that is normally practiced working at a slow pace is not natural or even culturally practiced, at least not that I'm aware of everything, or at least almost everything is given a time block or a schedule because it keeps people on time. It keeps everything nice and neat in a box. But when you take a step back and think about how your mind races when you're seeking answers and results as soon as possible, it can be stressful, especially when it's derived from you trying to be in control or trying to rush God's timing, whether through doubt or fear, and you're wondering what your credentials are, you're wondering if you're enough. All of these things drive you to seek for answers and results. ASAP and it's stressful. Waiting on God requires wisdom rather than your own strength. My friend. Wisdom comes from knowing who God is and from being in the Word. And not only that, but from application of what you're learning through the word. So are you changing according to what you're learning in the word? Trusting God includes surrendering because it is part of trusting. It is an action that needs to take place for you to be able to build that trust. It helps when trust is built because it teaches you to become reliant on his goodness. Which is not a bad thing at all And as you're learning to slow down, the Lord is good. He is a good shepherd, so he will lay you down on green pastures and in the midst of your desert. So how incredibly awesome is it that even when you are in the desert. God is still good. I am thinking about Psalms 23 right now. As I'm talking to you. It is called the Lord is my Shepherd is the Psalm of David. So if you're able Mama. Bring that Bible out and read along with me. I will be reading from the English standard version, and I just love this time that we get to fellowship in the Word of God together. So join me as I read Psalms 23 and I am going to pause because there are footnotes within this particular Psalms of David that I want to highlight because I think that it brings such huge depth and meaning into this beautiful psalm already. So it starts out by saying, the Lord is my shepherd. I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. Now for verse one, the footnotes are beside waters, which also said Waters of rest. So this particular portion of verse one would say, he leads me besides waters of rest. Verse three continues to say, he restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake. And in verse three, the footnote is for righteousness, which reads in right paths. So this particular portion will read. He leads me in right paths for his name's sake. Verse four says, even though I walk through the valley of shadow of death, I will fear no evil for you are with me. Your rod and your staff, they comfort me. And in verse four, there is a footnote there for the word death, which is, or the valley of deep darkness. And that portion of verse four would read with the footnotes. even though I walk through the valley of deep darkness, I will fear no evil for you are with me. Your rod and your staff, they comfort me. Verse five says, you prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil, my cup overflows. And then the last verse, verse six, says, surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever. Now, verse six actually has four footnotes, one for the word surely, which the footnote says only. The second one is for the word mercy, which says, or steadfast love. And then the third one is for the word dwell, which reads or shall return to dwell. And then the last one is for the word forever, which makes notes that it's Hebrew for length of days. Now I am going to read verse six again, but with all of the footnotes, so that would read only. Goodness. and steadfast love shall follow me all the days of my life and I shall return to dwell in the house of the Lord for length of days. I just love Psalms 23. I love that every time I come back to Psalms 23, there is always something new for me to think about and honestly for me right now, that's in verse six, which. Highlights the word dwell. returning to dwell in the house of the Lord is something that truly stuck out to me because it's making me think as I'm talking to you, how often am I returning to dwell into the house of the Lord? Do I take my good times and do I just run with it until I feel burnout and then I come back? Or am I continuously going back into the house of the Lord? I think for me personally, it's making me reflect too on Ecclesiastes 12, which Solomon reminds us to remember the Lord, remember our creator, It's just something that I find so incredibly beautiful. As Psalms 23, the Psalm of David is written out, and I'm gonna share these tips with you on trusting God while you're in the waiting, but I would highly, highly. Highly encourage you to go back and read Psalms 23, read it slowly, and ask how you should be changed from reading. Psalms 23. So my tips for you are to surrender control. Think about where you need to surrender control, and then work through that particular thing. bring this to God in your prayer while you actively slow yourself down. The second one is to practice Godly patience. Patience, not from your own flesh that is easily tempted or easily angered, but learning godly patience and applying that into your own life. It won't be perfect my friend, but it will help you overcome the feeling of being stuck. And then the third one is to continue to read the Bible. Be reminded of his goodness And again, ask how you should be changed by what you've read and start making those changes. It's gonna be incredibly hard and uncomfortable, but perhaps maybe being uncomfortable, embracing the discomfort is where these changes are going to happen. I know that we talked about a lot today, especially about waiting on God's timing, and yes, it can be hard to be at peace with understanding that everything happens according to his timing because we have busy schedules. As moms, there's pressures that we have to get things done quickly because as moms we have busy schedules. There's the pressure to get things done quickly. There. We're rushing or taking things into our own hands because we feel like we're short on time Waiting on God requires wisdom rather than your own strength. which leads us to talking about our third point, which was trusting in God surrendering is part of this trust process. Not only does it help you build trust, but it teaches you to become reliant on his goodness as you're learning to slow down. We highlighted Psalms 23. Read through that with all of the footnotes As a reminder of who God is and I gave you tips to help you as you're waiting on God. which is to surrender the control practice godly patience, and continue to read the Bible. It can be incredibly hard for you to embrace the discomfort that you are in, especially in the season of overwhelm and stuck. And it just seems like no matter what you're doing, the needle isn't moving. But my friend, you can do hard things. Thank you so much for hanging out with me today. I had such a wonderful time. I cannot wait to meet you again next Wednesday. Right here on this podcast. Mamma.
