Thriving Alcohol-Free with Mocktail Mom

Ep 11 Meet Marnie Rae: Founder of National Mocktail Week, Thriving & Sober with Stage IV Cancer Diagnosis

Deb, Mocktail Mom Season 1 Episode 11

I am still sky-high from meeting with my guest, Marnie Rae. I felt as if I'd met up with a long-lost friend during our podcast recording. Marnie is an inspiration as she thrives & remains sober, living with a Stage IV Lung cancer diagnosis.

She is a Pacific NW mom of 3, a business owner alongside her husband, and a blogger in the sober and alcohol-free space. Marnie has been sober for 20+ years and started her blog in 2018 to showcase mocktails and the need for alcohol-free beverage options. Marnie believes that we need more options for non-drinkers, BUT her primary message is about community, drink inclusivity, and making not drinking NORMAL. In 2020 she stepped away from the mocktails and her blog to focus on her mental and physical health, and then in 2021 was very unexpectedly diagnosed with Stage IV Lung cancer. Today she’s focusing on her health and trying to figure out what life looks like with a cancer diagnosis and as a new retiree. You can find her on social media, her blog, and her Substack newsletter, sharing her journey with you as a reminder of our blessings in life…there are so many if we are paying attention.
