James Mattiace

James Mattiace is a veteran international educator who has lived and worked in eight countries. A lifelong language learner, he has explored French, Spanish, Arabic, Amharic, and Nahuatl, among others. He serves as Executive Director of the Assessment and Competency Collaborative, accrediting schools engaged in standards- and competency-based assessment reform. He is also a professional learning instructor with Amala Education, the only NEASC/CIS-accredited high school operating in refugee camps in Uganda, Kenya, Jordan, and Thailand. In addition, he advises the Ethiopian Ministry of Education on nationwide competency-based and career technical education initiatives.
