What if hearing God was less about chasing a moment and more about walking in a steady conversation? We unpack five reliable ways to discern God’s voice—Scripture, the Spirit’s inner witness, wise community, peace that umpires your choices, and the clarity of open-and-closed doors—so you can move with confidence and courage.

We share personal stories of guidance in marriage, ministry, and business, including dreams that redirected calling, impressions that protected timing, and opportunities that confirmed next steps. You’ll learn the simple pathways many people experience—seer, hearer, feeler, knower—and why God often speaks through pictures and prompts that grow trust, not confusion. We also get practical about the hardest question: is it me, God, or the enemy? Our five-discernment filter helps you test any impression against Scripture, God’s character, peace versus chaos, confirmation from mature believers, and whether it requires faith and advances a mission bigger than your ego.

We talk candidly about prophecy with humility, why accountability beats “God said” declarations, and how fruit over time reveals true direction. If you’ve felt stuck in silence, you’ll discover how God’s quiet seasons still form you, and how everyday attentiveness turns down the noise so you can follow the still small voice. Ready to build a life where guidance is normal and obedience is natural? Press play, share with a friend who needs clarity, and if it helps you, subscribe and leave a review so more people can learn to hear God clearly.

Foundations For Hearing God

SPEAKER_02

Sometimes God will contradict our understanding of his word, but it will not contradict his word. What I mean by that is that if you feel led to do something unbiblical, it's not God. If you're single and you say, well, God's leading me to into a relationship with someone who's married, I don't know what you're hearing, but that's not God. So the foundation of what we hear should not contradict the written word of God. It should be in alignment. Hey everybody, welcome to another episode of Doing Life with Ken and Tabitha. So pumped to have you guys joining us today. We got a good one for you today. I'm telling you now. You want to get out your notebooks and note takers and just lean in because we're going to talk about five ways to hear God's voice clearly in your life. This is like a big deal.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

Relationship Over Religion

SPEAKER_02

We always people ask me this question all the time. How do I hear God's voice? How do I know if it's God's voice? And we're going to hit all that today. So you're going to want to stick around to the end. And so we want to talk about five ways to hear God's voice clearly. And I want to accomplish three goals today, sweetheart. Number one, I want to define what is God's voice. Number two, how do I hear God's voice? And number three, how do I know if it's God or if it's just me? And so I know this has been something that's near and dear to your heart, the ability to hear from God, to be led of God. Um, what's why do you think this is so important to you and maybe to others?

SPEAKER_00

Um I think it's so important because in any relationship, and we've been called to have a relationship with our Heavenly Father, right? So in any relationship, you have to communicate. And if there's no communication, you don't have a relationship, right? And so we have to hear what God says to us, not just for direction, like God tell me what to do, you know, because he's not, he doesn't really, you know, want us to be robots or anything like that. He wants to walk with us, that we're co-laborers with Jesus, right? And so also we want to hear from God so that he can tell us what he wants to tell us. Sometimes he just wants to say, I love you, son. Yeah, absolutely. I'm proud of you, son.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, encouragement is huge. Yeah. It's so multifaceted hearing the voice of God. And so I think it's the difference between a religion and a relationship. You know, I've studied multiple religions over the years, and all of the religions are basically people trying to get to God.

SPEAKER_01

Right.

When God Feels Silent

SPEAKER_02

Christianity is the one that's not a religion, it's a relationship with God where God says, You're not good enough to get to me. So I'm gonna come down and I'm gonna become a man and I'm gonna put on flesh. And so Jesus is God with us, Emmanuel with us. And so we don't have a religion, we have a relationship, and our whole uh foundation of what we believe is built off this relationship that we get to talk to God, and God wants to talk to us. We don't have a Zeus, it's just like giving us orders, and if we don't do what he wants us to do, then he's just gonna zap us. That's not our God. Our God is a father, he he is love. He we've been made for intimacy, we've been made for closeness. And so for me, hearing from God is one of the most important aspects for the believer. It brings clarity, it protects us from danger, um, it strengthens our faith, it deepens our relationship with God, it aligns me with God's timing. God's voice helps me move at the right pace. It's it's it's it's his leading of me. And actually, the children of Israel, they were led by the cloud in the day and the fire of pillar by night. How much more we we need to be led by the Holy Spirit in all we do. Has there ever been a time in your life where you wanted to hear from God, but you just felt like you couldn't do so? And if so, why?

SPEAKER_00

Um, yeah, I think those times have been in times where I needed God's instruction. Uh-huh. We're like, God, tell me what to do. God, I need an answer. Or times where I felt like I need a miracle.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

I need your healing like right now. I remember um fighting cancer and going through chemotherapy. There was a moment where I felt like, God, I need you now. And I feel like I can't hear you. The the the it it felt like it's in times of like, I just need something. I need you, God. Um and God probably was speaking to me, you know, and definitely was speaking to me, let me say, but maybe I I couldn't hear. Maybe he was speaking to me a way in a way that um I wasn't receiving. Maybe he wasn't speaking because, or maybe he wasn't speaking to me in certain things because he needed me to trust him and to grow to walk by faith.

SPEAKER_02

Do you ever feel like God is not speaking to us?

SPEAKER_00

Yes and no. I feel like God can choose to be silent. Um, just like with my kids, I can choose to jump in and rescue them from the situation, or I can say, No, I've I've equipped you for this situation, so I'm gonna be quiet until I know that you need me. So, yes, I think he can be quiet, but um Okay, I see.

SPEAKER_02

You know what I mean?

SPEAKER_00

Even in his silent, he still speaks. That's so good.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, even in his silence, he still basically I think God can be silent. And I've had seasons in my life where I felt like, okay, I'm not real clear what to do. And he's like, Well, I've already deposited in you what to do. I'm gonna let you make the choice. Right. And so his silence sometimes is an invitation for for for me to seek him, for me to step out on what I already know about his character and his nature. And so so that's one aspect, but the other aspect is that he's always leading and guiding.

SPEAKER_00

Because even he may not be speaking for this one topic, this one question that I have. Maybe he's not speaking on that, but everything else is speaking. The rocks cry out, the the, you know, the the sun, the moon, the stars, and everything that we see, the birds, like everything's speaking, the glory of God in a in a way. So I think yes, he's always speaking, but maybe not on every topic when and when we want.

How God Speaks: Seer, Hearer, Feeler, Knower

SPEAKER_02

Was there ever a time um when you were a newer believer that you had a hard time just hearing his voice when you first started walking with Jesus? And I'm asking that question because I just believe that there are so many people out there and they're just trying to get their feet wet and they just feel like maybe they don't hear from God. What would what was your situation and what would you advise for them?

SPEAKER_00

Um Yeah, I remember, you know, growing with God, and um, it was a very exciting time for me because I felt like my whole life before I knew God, I was gifted in certain areas, like seeing into the spirit realm. I would have nightmares and be tormented, and I thought I was just something was wrong with me, and you know, I don't know. Um, but when I um became a believer and started growing with God and and learning to hear the voice of God, I found out that like, wow, um, this is a way that God speaks to me through dreams. This is a way that um God speaks to me through what I feel. Like I just felt like, no, don't do that. And that was God speaking to me.

SPEAKER_01

Okay.

SPEAKER_00

Um, and so in the beginning, I thought that I didn't hear from God, but and then I found out like, whoa, no, I do hear from God. I just didn't know how to hear his voice.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. That's such an important difference because when we're talking about the voice of God, it's not just the voice like you hear our voice. Yeah. It's not the audible voice of God. Like I personally, I don't think I've ever heard the audible voice of God. I know my dad says that he has maybe once or twice in his life, but for me, I've never heard the audible voice of God. God speaks to me mostly in impressions. I'm more of a hearer. So I hear God. It's more like a spirit, it's an impression, it's a nudging, it's more um, I can just sense it. Maybe I can feel God. Every once in a while I'll see something, you know, but I'm I'm more of a hearer probably than I am a seer. And probably more of a feeler than I am a seer, more a hearer and a filler. I don't know if you can be both, but I feel like I am.

SPEAKER_00

So some people hear from God by like, you can hear from God anyway. I mean, he's God, he can do whatever he wants. But we find that there's like you have a kind of propensity to hear from God a certain way. Yeah. I see a lot, like I see, I have visions, dreams. And so most of the time, if God speaks to me, he'll give me like a picture. He might give me a picture of a strawberry. And from that strawberry, I might have a whole word, like, oh wow, God says that, you know, life is going to be like this strawberry. It's ripe and it's sweet and, you know, it's ready to be picked. And I would have this whole word. God spoke to me just through a picture. Some people would never see a picture, but they heard like they heard the sound of water. And that meant that it was time for refreshing. They heard the sound of thunder, you know, the sound of rain.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Some people feel. Okay. Some people feel like, you know what? And I'm I'm a feeler as well. Like sometimes when there's a move of God, like, you know, um, we just had a really wonderful, like uh revival night. And um, it was like the anticipation for that night, I just knew that God was doing something special. So, like all day I had like this stirring in my stomach, like I felt it in my body that God was doing something. That's God speaking. And then in some people, I feel like you're kind of like this too. You can tell me, I feel like you just know. Sometimes you just know that you know that you know, like, no, this is what God says. And how do you know that? I just know. I just know this is what God is doing right now.

SPEAKER_02

Okay. Would you would you classify hearing from God into those seer, hearer, knower, and censor? I don't think it's probably the only, but I think that's yeah, that's a great way to I've heard teachings on that before, and I can't remember what the categories are, but maybe I was thinking.

SPEAKER_00

I think there were four categories. Yes. Knowing and knower, is it thinker? No, I mean, I'm sorry. The knower, meaning like you know, you just know it. A feeler, like you feel it in your body. Um, uh a hearer, you hear, and then the seer. The seer.

Why God Speaks In Pictures And Prompts

SPEAKER_02

Okay. All right, good. Well, that's pretty good. Um, and so what is God's voice? Uh let's just define it very quickly. God's voice is the way he communicates his heart, his will, and his truth to his people, and it can come through those four four different ways, and maybe there's even more. Um, in a manner consistent with his word, his character, and his spirit. I think that part's important. So it's God's voice, is the way he communicates his his heart, his will, his truth to his people in a manner consistent with his word, his character, and his spirit. It's not always audible, it can be, um, but most of the time it's these inner witnesses, these revelations. Somebody might say, well, why doesn't God just speak plainly? Um, I don't know, you can ask him. Um, for whatever reason, God invites us into there's so much about the character of God. You know, the scripture says that um it's the glory of God to conceal something, but the heart of a king to search out a matter. And I think that God, if God did show you a strawberry instead of just saying something, it's the intrigue of the trust and the faith. And there's something that he's trying to develop where many times he might not be as plain, but the conclusion will be plain and the growth will be even better.

SPEAKER_00

I you know, I have a couple of things that I think like, why does God speak like this? Um, I think he's extremely creative, and I I love that about him as a creative person. But I think number one, God likes to be pursued.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, you know, without question.

SPEAKER_00

I uh like I love it when you pursue me. I want to know that, oh, tell me more, God. Let me lean in, God, let me search the scriptures, God, let me fast and that's a word for somebody.

SPEAKER_02

You want more of God? God loves desperation. He loves hunger, he loves thirst, he loves being pursued with passion.

Personal Stories Of Guidance And Fruit

SPEAKER_00

And I think number two, and you know, there's probably more reasons, but number two is that without faith, it's impossible to please God. Okay. You need faith to be like, okay, God, I just heard the sound of running water. So I believe you're saying this. Okay, God, you just showed me a strawberry. I need faith to know what God is saying.

SPEAKER_02

So good. Um, is there any times in your life that really just stick out to you right now as times where God spoke to you and that you knew it was God and you have fruit now to show from it?

SPEAKER_00

I mean, yeah. Uh I think marrying you, I knew, like I felt like um this was a good step for me to take. Okay. I knew that, you know, getting married was, you know, what I should do.

SPEAKER_02

Um, I think did God speak that to you or you you just knew it? I just knew it. Uh-huh. Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

I just knew it. You know, I just knew that this is what I should do.

SPEAKER_02

That's interesting. That's interesting. Because there's other people who might feel like they really know it and then it doesn't work out well. And, you know, I mean, there's a gap there that maybe we'll talk about in this podcast, but well, I I yeah. You got it there's a according to your faith. You you can't be judging your life and your relationship with God based upon someone else's. Yeah. I guess.

SPEAKER_00

I mean, and then some things like, you know, promises of God and prophecies and things like that. When if, you know, God can speak to me and say, you know, you know, I could know that this is God speaking, this is the right choice for me to make marry this man. This is my husband. I have peace with this and everything. I don't necessarily think it's God's decision. You know what I mean? But it's my decision. And I felt like, yeah, that was the right thing to do. But now, if I go in and now I decide like I don't like Ken anymore and I'm gonna go cheat on him and I'm gonna do this. Well, God still spoke to me. I just chose to do something else. I just chose, you know what I mean? Everything sometimes is just conditional.

unknown

Right.

SPEAKER_00

I don't know how we got there or what I'm talking about.

SPEAKER_02

Well, well, well, you're talking about times that you've heard from God and you have fruit. So you the first example is when you married me. Do you have another?

SPEAKER_00

I don't know. Do you do you? Do you?

SPEAKER_02

Um definitely God I know that I have God told me to marry you.

SPEAKER_00

Uh huh.

Five Ways To Hear God Clearly

SPEAKER_02

That was the best, one of the best decisions I've ever made in my life. And of course, it was really tough in the beginning and I almost messed it up. But 26 years later, without question, I heard from God as a 19-year-old boy that you would be my wife. Um there was times when we've been in business and the Lord spoke to me about an investment. Um, God does care with everything that we care for. So I'm in the business world and the Lord would speak to me. I want you to make buy this house, go to the computer, look in a certain city, get on and and and send over an offer on a house that you've never seen before. Yeah. And then lo and behold, um three, four months make$30,040,000. God spoke that to me. Um, God told me that I was called to be a pastor. And um I said, where? He said, Gainesville. I'm living outside of Washington, D.C. at the time. I didn't know anybody in Gainesville, only knew one person in the state of Florida, and we wasn't close. Um, but I believe that that was a word from God. Yeah. A Rhema word. He said Gainesville, so we sold our businesses, left our family, our friends, and a church that we loved, and we moved our two-year-old daughter and a family of three to Gainesville, Florida. Didn't know anybody. And um 18 years later, I believe that was God's doing. Amen. Um, even now when it comes to prophetic words, uh, we do them by faith. You know, we received prophetic words that um I we received a prophetic word that someone is gonna give us a building, uh, a building that's large and already furnished. And I have nothing in the natural to see how that would ever happen. But I'm just gonna release my faith. I believe that God spoke that through the prophetic word, and uh, we war with those prophecies. So we can talk about the different ways that God speaks to us, but those are some things that come to my mind.

SPEAKER_00

That's so good. You know, think you you stirred up things in me, like my call to, you know, I am a pastor. Um, God gave me a dream, you know, and that was he spoke to me in a dream, and that's why I'm a pastor today. Um, there have been times being a mom with my children, you know, God would tell me, like, okay, pray for them instead of giving them, you know, like this, that, or the other. And like instantly, I'd see instant healing with them. Um, there have been times where um I've been like been locked out of the house and God says, Well, do this, and I would do it, and the door would unlock. Like they're just miraculous things.

SPEAKER_02

Oh man, there's been so many little things left.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, like praying for people, you know.

SPEAKER_02

So I guess what we're saying is that the voice of the of the Lord, which is the leading of God, um, Him being out in front of us, telling us what to do, where to go, speaking to us, confirming, affirming, encouraging. Yes, we need it like we need air to breathe. It is so valuable. We want to help you with this. Five ways to hear God's voice more clearly. I would say number one, through his word.

SPEAKER_01

Okay.

SPEAKER_02

So the Bible, of course, is the primary source in which we hear from God. All right. And this is what we've learned is that God in what he says to us will never contradict his word. Okay. It should be in alignment with it.

SPEAKER_00

Absolutely.

Open And Closed Doors As Direction

SPEAKER_02

Uh, number two would be through the Holy Spirit's promptings. This is what we call inner witnesses. It's a sense of peace, conviction, or urgency, often a quiet nudge rather than a loud announcement. Remember, wasn't it the wasn't it Prophet Elijah who says it was the still small voice of God? Yes. The voice of God wasn't in the wind, it wasn't in the fire, it wasn't in the storm, and several things, but it was the still small voice of God. Right. And so we have to live a life with sensitivity to be able to tap into the gentle nudgings of God. Okay. Um, John 14, 26 says the Spirit teaches and reminds us of what Jesus said. Um, number three would be through godly counsel and community. God often confirms his voice through other believers. Um, if you have a sense that God is calling you to do this big thing, don't just make war with good advice, make war. The scripture says in Proverbs 11 that in the multitude of counselor there is safety. If you're afraid to tell other people that are spiritual and mature people about what God's telling you, maybe God didn't tell you. You got to come to the place where you're willing to talk to other people. You know, not everybody. You don't have to tell the whole world or even post about it. Everyone should have two or three trusted voices that you consider godly counsel. I would think through peace, God speaks through peace or the lack of it. Colossians 3.15 says, let the peace of Christ act as an umpire. It calls it in, call it out. There's certain things that I know I don't have peace on that. To me, that means that God's not speaking to me. Sometimes I have a multitude of peace. I gotta make this decision. I got peace on it. We're gonna go with that. And number five would be through circumstances and opening closed doors. I believe that God can speak to you by presenting an opportunity that would not have come your way if it had not been for the Lord. Or he can also speak to you by removing an opportunity. And all of a sudden you're facing a closed door, God is saying, I'm not in it.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

And so I believe that God can speak through those five means and others as well. Any thoughts about those?

Is It Me, God, Or The Enemy

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I love that last one, especially. Sometimes it's just like we we feel like we can feel like God's not speaking, but he is speaking. It's just maybe we don't recognize the way that he's speaking. And so if we want to, you know, do something and we go through this door, like we open this door, we're doing it, and it's great, but then all of a sudden that door slams in your face. Maybe that's not the devil, maybe it's God.

SPEAKER_02

Maybe. Sometimes you got to go through the door or there's a storm and you you got to go to the other side. It's the wisdom of God and the discernment of God and the multitude of counsel that lets you know am I supposed to be knocking down this door or am I supposed to be going back because this was a closed door?

SPEAKER_00

And I and I think I feel somebody getting nervous right now. Well, how am I supposed to know? Do I knock down the door? Do is it God or is it the devil? It's through relationship. It's through morning and night, afternoon, evening, midday, all day, every day. You're just communing with God. Yeah. You're looking for his voice and how you feel. Oh, I feel some kind of way right now. I was fine two seconds ago. And instead of being like, oh, that was crazy. Lord, are you speaking to me right now? Lord, is there something you want me to know right now? Lord, should I pray right now? I just heard like, I just heard this weird noise. There's nobody else around, or like in my spirit, I hear something. Lord, are you speaking to me right now? And he will train us and we will get to know his voice, and it'll be good.

SPEAKER_02

Here's the million dollar question. You let me write into it. The million dollar question is how do I know if it's my voice or um God's voice or the devil? What would you say? How do how do how do I know the difference?

SPEAKER_00

Um, I think you talked about some of them already. Number one, does it line up with the word of God? God will never contradict his word. Okay. You know, the God is never going to tell you to, you know, lay down your life and get on a cross and be crucified again. Jesus already did it. Right. You don't have to do that again. So, number one, does it line up with his word? And I think number two, like I said, like um uh relationship, like you you'll grow to the point. Like this is this is growing. And and I'm not even like, I'm still growing in hearing from God. Like I'm never going to arrive. Like I know when God speaks to me, but then sometimes I'm like, Lord, is that you? And sometimes I have to wait it out to see, was that God? Okay, I'm gonna put this on the shelf right now. Or sometimes I would be like, is that my own flesh? Is this just me? Yeah, you know. Um, I feel like, you know, with the devil, you know, I feel like don't you, I don't like to feel like I'm being tricked by the devil. You know, I always feel like I know the devil, I know that's the devil. Well, sometimes he's tricky. He, you know, he's like that serpent, just kind of come, you know, wanting to come in and, you know, look like an angel, but you're really not. I don't know. But I think we'll grow in discerning what God's voice is. You talked about the multitude of counselors, um, you know, taking this to someone that you trust, a pastor. You know, at our church, we have pastors after every service just go up, hey, I had a dream. What do you think about this pastor? You know what I mean?

Prophecy, Humility, And Discernment

SPEAKER_02

So you don't let them hear from God for you. Right. They are confirming and helping you be in a safe place. I think that's very important. Yes. Because I think some people get into weird cults and different things where they have someone hearing from God on their behalf. The prophetic ministry and also the ministry of the multitude of counsel is not someone hearing from God on your behalf necessarily. Um, most prophetic words should confirm something that you already know. I mean, every once in a while it will be created. Um, if it's a prophet, maybe there's a creative word, but for the most part, it should be a confirmation. And so um, those things, some people might fear those things, but actually, those are the safety boundaries that God has in place so that his voice becomes more distinct and more accurate. And so I don't know, I jotted down five simple filters to help you know if it's you or if it's God or if it's the devil. Um, a lot of times it's I think more of the wrestle, is it you or is it God? You know what I'm saying? Is this something you really want or is this God in it? You know, many times we say God said because we just don't want accountability. Right. Yeah, I've seen a lot of people over the years, well, God is leading me to do this and God said this, and it wasn't God, it was them. Yeah, yeah, it was them. We could we couldn't tell right then. And matter of fact, I'm the kind of pastor and leader that if you come to me and say God said, I'm gonna say, do what you believe God told you to do. I'm never gonna get in front of God. But if you come to me as a mentee and want my advice, and you say, I believe God is saying this, I'm not sure, what do you think? Then you pull on the counsel, you pull on the pastoral side of me. If you come and say God said, well, you why are you talking to me? You already said God said.

SPEAKER_00

I think that I'm very careful. I try to be, Lord help me. I try to be very careful in saying what God said. Yeah. Because, you know, I don't know. I just, you know, respect. I don't want to be wrong. You know, I respect God. I mean, I went bold and stuff like that, but yeah, like even in my own life and stuff, well, I believe God said, you know what I mean? Sometimes I know that God said. I mean, there's a time to be bold, but when it's like, I don't know if God said it or not, that's not the time to be like, well, God said this and then he said this. No, I feel like God said this and I feel like God said that. So, you know, how would you view this situation, Mr. Pastor?

SPEAKER_02

Well, yeah, I think even when it comes to prophetic words, I am very slow to be like, thus saith the Lord, God is saying this. I would rather say, I believe that God is saying this. I believe that the Lord showed me this. I believe, especially when it comes to personal prophecy. Yeah. I might even be bolder when it comes to the congregation, but when it comes to the Lord showed me something about you, I'm gonna approach this with great humility. Like, hey, is it okay if I pray for you? Hey, I feel like God showed me something in the dream last night. Can I share it with you? I'm asking for permission. Yes. I'm humbly saying, hey, you can take this or leave it. I don't know if this bears witness with you, but the Lord showed me just this cap that was on you and how he's removing the cap and you're going to another level. And I believe it's gonna affect every area of your life. And if that bears witness with you, you know, you know, and so I actually I want people to go have other people judge personal words. You know, take what I just said and go ask another pastor, another elder, hey, I got this word, you know, can you just, you know, judge it with me? Did it bear witness with you? And I just feel like anytime when it comes to hearing from God and prophet, why can't we just be humble with it?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

And and here's the other side of it, and don't be in fear. Because there's so many people that don't want to give a prophetic word, especially a personal one, because they don't want to be wrong and they don't want to be a false prophet. That ain't being a false prophet because you missed it here and there. That's actually you only prophesy according to your faith. Yeah. You have there's a risk when it comes to the prophetic ministry that you have to be willing to step out and say, I might be wrong, but I at least I stepped out.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

And I think God honors that risk when your heart is right. A false prophet is something completely different. Your heart's not right, your motives are not right. We can see it when we look at the false prophet Balaam. He was doing things and he actually prophesied correctly, but with bad motives. Yeah, it was in it for the money. Stay away, way away from that. But most people who are prophetic in nature, I mean, you can present stuff humility when when when when I believe this, this is what God is saying. I believe this is what God is doing. But doggone it, step out in faith. See what God's saying.

SPEAKER_00

Well, we also see like Jonah, who was a prophet, he prophesied and it didn't come to pass, but the Bible never calls him a false prophet. Yeah, you know, he just he situations happen. You know, you can prophesy one thing today and then tomorrow the situation changed. That didn't mean that it was wrong. I just, you know, the whole false prophet thing, it's like, oh, please help us, Lord.

Practical Filters For Testing A Word

SPEAKER_02

It's just like, my goodness. I remember when um when uh Trump was running for the second term in 2020, and all these people were prophesying that he was gonna get in office again, and then he didn't get in office again, and Biden came in, all the false prophet police was everywhere. Oh Lord. All these people were false prophets, false prophets, false prophets, they had no clue that he was gonna come back again in four years. And what we think is the interpretation of the word, we don't know the manifestation that's in the heart of God. And so we've always made up our mind. We're very slow with the whole false prophet stuff. We're very, very slow. It's just not my camp. I just don't, I you know what I'm saying? It's like for me with the whole false prophet stuff, like you know a tree by its fruit. Uh-huh. Just look at a person's fruit. My challenge with it is this is that there's a lot of people out here calling people false prophets, that the hand of the Lord is upon them. And that is like the sin of blasphemy. Whenever you call a work of the spirit, a work of the devil, that's what Jesus defines as black. But they don't see it as fruit. They don't see the amount of people that's being baptized, healed, and saved. They because they don't agree with their doctrine or maybe their style, it's so easy just to say they're a false prophet and it's demonic. But they did the same thing with Jesus. And that's why Jesus was like, listen, if I cast out demons by demons, the kingdom of hell is divided against itself. But if I cast them out by the Spirit of God, the kingdom of heaven is at hand. People aren't smart enough just to look at the person's fruit. Quick talk, quick negative.

SPEAKER_00

I have a whole 66 books of the Bible to preach about. Why is your ministry, your main ministry, the false prophet?

SPEAKER_02

That's the funniest thing to me. Like you're telling me that you're building a platform to tear down somebody else's platform. You got too much time on your hands, brothers and sisters.

SPEAKER_00

Anyway, we we went off on a rabbit trail there. But I think it's good. It is so true. I did want to say this though, that about prophesying is that, you know, not it prophesying isn't just for prophets, you know. Yeah, it's a spirit of prophecy.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, it's this all believers, every Christian should prophesy.

SPEAKER_00

Like moms and dads prophesy to your children, prophesy the word of God.

SPEAKER_02

Prophesy over your sins.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, go to prayer, get a word, and take it to your family. Strawbones live again. Yes.

SPEAKER_02

And so, anyway, here's my practical filters for how do you know it's your voice, God's voice, or the devil's voice. Number one, you ready? Does it line up with scripture? You talked about that. God doesn't contradict his word, okay? Um, number two, does it reflect the character of God? We know through hermeneutics who God is from Genesis to Revelations. We understand that He's love, He's just, He's righteous, He's holy. Does it contradict the character of God, the nature of God? All right, so God's voice will be loving, truthful, and pure. It will never be condemning and shameful. And that's some of the things we're saying. Like you if you say right things out of a wrong spirit, it's still wrong things.

SPEAKER_00

Right.

SPEAKER_02

Um, number three is does it bring peace, not confusion? Does it bring peace? Let the peace of God, Colossians 3.15, peace doesn't mean it means inner insurance assurance uh that you're in step with him. If you feel constant chaos, panic, or double-mindedness, it's most likely not him. Uh what about this? Number four, is it confirmed by godly counsel? We keep coming back to that. Okay, wise, mature believers often hear the same things God already been speaking to you about, okay, and the multitude of counsel of their safety. And number five, does it require faith and align with a godly mission? God's voice often calls you to trust him beyond your comfort zone, but always towards something that honors him and it also helps others. It will point you towards obedience more than self glorification any day of the week.

SPEAKER_00

Amen.

SPEAKER_02

Thank you so much for hanging out with us. If this was a blessing to you, let us know. You can find our Email address, write a great review, share, share, share. We believe that caring is sharing. Can you just stop for a moment and share this? Other people, they need to know. Sharing sometimes can be a lifeline to people. They need to know how to hear from God. We pray that now you have more faith in his voice.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

And you can discern what's you and what's not you and what's God. And that the still small voice of God be turned up in your life.

SPEAKER_00

Absolutely. That you know, I mean, also, here's what I want you to know that God is speaking to you. That you do hear his voice. You can hear his voice. We just got to figure out how he's speaking. Yeah.

SPEAKER_02
