You know that feeling when your body is running on fumes but your brain keeps asking for sugar anyway? We’re talking about a simple food reset, the realistic kind that helps you feel steady again after holidays, vacations, or a busy season where convenience food quietly takes over. No extreme detox promises, no perfection talk, just practical steps that help reduce inflammation, support digestion, and bring your energy back online.

We break down what a food reset actually is: a short break from ultra-processed foods, added sugars, and artificial ingredients, replaced with real food you can recognize. We also share the most common signs your body is asking for a reset, like constant fatigue, cravings that feel loud, and brain fog that makes you forget why you walked into a room. From there, we lay out a simple approach: remove the junk, prioritize lean protein and whole foods, and get serious about hydration with an easy water goal you can calculate in seconds.

We also cover what not to do, because most people don’t fail from lack of motivation, they fail from going too extreme, not eating enough, and expecting instant results. Give it a few days and you may notice better sleep, fewer cravings, clearer focus, and the surprising moment when healthier food starts to sound good again. Subscribe, share with a friend who needs a reset, and leave a review if this helped you feel ready to start.

Cross Roads Podcast presents Health News with Steven and Mady. For those who want to be in the know. Good morning, Cross Roads. Welcome back to Cross Roads Podcast, Health News with Steven and Mady, where we help you live healthier, laugh louder, and maybe clean out your pantry along the way.

Mady Killfoil

Especially your pantry, Steven. We all know that stuff in there from 2012.

Steven Killfoil

Hey now, that expired protein bar is a collector's item.

Mady Killfoil

Yeah, I bet it is.

What A Food Reset Means

Steven Killfoil

Okay, but before we get started on today's topic, a little disclaimer. Maddie and I are not doctors or nurses. We do not diagnose or treat patients. Anything we share on this podcast is for practical educational purposes only and does not substitute for professional medical advice. We advise our listeners to consult a medical professional or health care provider if they seek medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Today's topic is something a lot of people need, especially after the holidays, vacations, or just life in general. It's called a food reset. It's bad enough that our own country is trying to poison all of us with petrochemicals in the food, and on top of that, the pharmaceutical industry is trying to kill us with the same and all their petrochemical prescription drugs.

Mady Killfoil

Or what I like to call breaking up with junk food and then accidentally texting it at midnight. You know our bodies were not designed to digest all those chemicals. There is no substitute for natural food.

Steven Killfoil

Yeah, exactly. A food reset is simply giving your body a break from processed foods, sugar, overload, and inflammatory ingredients.

Mady Killfoil

Think of it like hitting the refresh button on your body without having to unplug yourself and plug back in.

Steven Killfoil

The goal is to reduce inflammation, stabilize your blood sugar, improve that digestion, and boost that energy.

Signs You Need A Reset

Mady Killfoil

And let's be honest, I feel like a human again instead of a walking snack machine. Yeah.

Steven Killfoil

So how do you know you need a food reset?

Mady Killfoil

Oh, I got this one. You are tired all the time, you crave sugar like it's your job, your genes are negotiating with you, and you feel like you look like a stuffed bell pepper. Woof. Yeah.

Steven Killfoil

Negotiating is uh generous.

Mady Killfoil

Yes, and brain fog. You walk into a room and forget while you're there.

Steven Killfoil

That's when your body is saying, hey, maybe less drive-thru and more drive yourself to the grocery store.

Mady Killfoil

Another sign? You are reading ingredient labels and thinking, is this food or a science experiment? What is it?

Simple Steps For A Reset

Steven Killfoil

All right, now let's break this down into some simple steps. Step one, remove the junk. That means cut out processed foods, eliminate those added sugars, avoid artificial ingredients, and stop eating out because you have no idea where the food has been or how many people have handled it.

Mady Killfoil

Translation, if it has twenty-seven ingredients and you can't pronounce twenty-three of them, it's gotta go. Step number two, eat real food. Lean proteins, fresh vegetables, healthy fats, you will never find good, healthy food at any restaurant. Guaranteed.

Steven Killfoil

So think eggs, chicken, avocados, leafy greens.

Mady Killfoil

And yes, you'll survive without neon collar stacks. No problem.

Steven Killfoil

Right, and guess what? Water is your best friend.

Mady Killfoil

Exactly. Not coffee, not soda, not just one more sweet tea. You need to drink approximately half your body weight in fluid ounces. So if you weigh 100 pounds, then half of that is 50. So 50 ounces of water, that means six to seven, eight ounces of glasses of water per day.

Steven Killfoil

It really isn't that difficult. Also, you don't need a 30-day extreme detox.

Common Reset Mistakes To Avoid

Mady Killfoil

Okay. Coming back to our topic. Common mistakes and what not to do during a reset.

Steven Killfoil

Mistake number one, going too extreme. People try to eat only kale and sadness.

Mady Killfoil

And then they quit by Wednesday. Boom.

Steven Killfoil

Mistake number two, not eating enough. If you're starving yourself, guess what? Your body's gonna fight back.

Mady Killfoil

Yes, you need a lot of protein to keep you full all day long. And if you don't, then that's when the cookies win.

Steven Killfoil

Yeah. And mistake number three expecting instance results. Wow, right now, right now. You know, you gotta give your body time.

Mady Killfoil

Yes, because you didn't get here overnight, so you are not fixing it overnight

Steven Killfoil

It's kind of like debt and weight gain are two the same thingsame things. You didn't get into debt overnight, but it took a long period of time, and now you're there. It's gonna take you a little while to get it paid off.

Results People Notice Fast

Mady Killfoil

Yeah, you need a lot of patience.

Steven Killfoil

So here's what people often notice after just a few days from a food reset. One, they have more energy, two, they're getting a much better night's sleep. Three, they've noticed their cravings have reduced significantly. And four, they have improved focus and remembered where they lost their keys.

Mady Killfoil

And here's my favorite. You start wanting healthy food. Yes.

Steven Killfoil

That's when you know your body is healing.

Mady Killfoil

Plus, you don't feel like you need a nap after every meal.

Steven Killfoil

And that's a big win right there. I know. I usually went around about 2 p.m., then I had to have a lay-down, quick nap. I wanted my energy back.
