Aware And Prepared
Hello! This is the Aware and Prepared podcast. I'm your host, Mandi Pratt, a trained domestic violence advocate. I teach women and vulnerable populations how to be street smart. I'm a mom with a gnarly backstory from almost two decades ago. The FBI showed up at my door one day to alert me that my abusive ex had become wanted for multiple bank robberies. Our story was in the news (a few times). I was tired of feeling vulnerable and learned how to keep myself and my son safer. I wish when I was a young woman I'd known about red flags to watch for in relationships, and had learned how to be street smart. This podcast is for 15-year-old me and is meant for families and community groups to listen to together. After all, women's safety is a community issue. I'll share with you stories like mine and interview detectives, psychologists and many other experts to NOT only hear their jaw-dropping stories, but also what we learn from them to prevent harm for our every youth and grown up listening. I don't want anyone else to have to go through what I did - scared, vulnerable and needing decades of counseling and healthcare to heal. I want you to feel safer with less fear and more power!

How to Prioritize Your Safety Over Being Polite: Jumper Cable Example
What do you do when your instincts are screaming “no,” but you feel obligated to say “yes” to be polite? In this empowering podcast episode, Mandi shares a powerful Q&A moment from her recent presentation in Hawaii, where a woman asked how to break free from the ingrained pressure to always be nice—especially when it could compromise personal safety.
Through a real-life scenario involving jumper cables and an isolated location, Mandi offers practical, life-saving alternatives that allow women to prioritize safety over politeness.
You’ll walk away with mindset shifts, verbal strategies, and a reminder that it's okay to say no—because your safety matters more than being polite.

Okay, welcome back to day five of the Intuition Challenge. I hope that you're loving this and it's helping you strengthen your intuition. Woo hoo. You finished? You did all five days, which has actually been five weeks, so we did the. Intuition activation challenge over the course of five weeks. So each week had one part of the challenge and there's five parts.
So we went through all of those and I hope that it was so helpful. Hey, if you did not actually download the PDF, please make sure that you do because it has. A little bit more information and it has a checklist for you so you can save this. And if you weren't really paying attention or something and or maybe even you just wanna do it again, or maybe you wanna share it with somebody 'cause you found it helpful, just go to the website.
Aware and prepared life, which I will drop into the show notes. And you scroll down to the very bottom of my website and you'll see that there's an invitation to take the intuition quiz. And you click on the button, you take the fun little short quiz to see how you're doing on your intuition, and then once you get your results back, it invites you to download the intuition activation.
Challenge PDF. So you'll always have that and you can use it, you can share it, and I've loved helping you with this. In fact, I get to go and talk about this at one of the local universities soon here and at the time of this recording, and I cannot wait because. Boy, do I wish I had this information when I was a young person, right?
Don't you, don't we all, we all need this. So thank you so much for being here. Thank you so much for listening, and I hope that you stay safer with more peace. Day one was slow down. Day two was listen inward. Day three was write it out or talk it out. Day four was decide, are you gonna rationalize away your intuition, that gut feeling you have, or are you gonna trust it?
So day five is take one, intuitive action. We kind of touched on this in day four, so today we want to make sure that you take that action. So why? Our intuition grows stronger when we use it. We learn to trust it. Trusting yourself builds confidence over time. Remember that key phrase over time, right? So choose that one decision today, big or small, where you listen to your gut and you act on it without overthinking.
Reflect on how it felt afterwards. So congratulations. You did all five days and I want to hear from you how this went. So I hope that you've learned to trust yourself and remember that our intuition is a survival mechanism. I wanna encourage you to go to my podcast Aware and Prepared. It's on all the major platforms and you'll see one of the very first episodes is called Kelly's Story, and I read from one of my favorite books called The Gift of Fear by Gavin de Becker.
That's the Gift of Fear by Gavin d Becker, D-E-B-E-C-K-E-R, and. He shares with us the story of a young gal who thought it was a good Samaritan, who was helping her pick up her groceries that she dropped at her apartment and helping her back into her apartment. Well, unfortunately, I. He assaulted her in her apartment and she did get out alive because she trusted her intuition.
You'll have to hear the story. It is difficult, but thankfully they don't share too much detail, so I. Um, it's okay. It's, it's okay to listen to, unless that's happened to you. You might wanna skip through the parts, but I highly, highly encourage you to listen to it because it's a perfect example of intuition and listening to our intuition, not listening to our intuition.
It's learning all of the things without judgment, without victim blaming. So I highly encourage that. If you want to study further and you can even take my course, I will give the info on that. Um, it's on my website@mandypratt.com or women aware and prepared.com. It's all the same, and you will see where you can find the course there and that will help you further.
Look into paying attention to your intuition being safer when you're out and about, but I really hope that just this challenge alone has helped you to start trusting your intuition. Feel free to go through it again and again as many times as you need, or to share it with somebody that you care about and you want them to be listening to their intuition and heeding any red flags.
If they see a red flag, whether, again, that be an. Health or the workplace or relationships, dating, who knows? Right? So I hope that this has helped you and feel free to share with me. Um, anything that you would like to share. Through my Instagram, I'm gonna where I'm prepared, or my LinkedIn, Mandy Pratt. So I often go out and I speak to different groups on trusting your intuition and how that plays into your success for your future, leading into your career maybe, or finding the love of your life, right?
