Speaker 1:

Welcome to a few for thought empowering women to live healthier lifestyles. I'm Tracy Elizabeth, I'm Nicole Heller and we are back with Kim so excited. So Kim is back with a little recap. We were here together last week just discussing a little bit about Kim's story. We are so grateful that you are back and we wanted to do a little recap on just our um definitely a little um pro active. Yes, you know, take away on, go ahead, take it away for the pro active piece.

Speaker 2:

Okay, so pro active, get your mammogram. That's it, that's it, that's it.

Speaker 1:

Done, period Done. But I think that one of the things that we want to talk to a little bit is that there are, you know, women out there right now that are struggling, that are exactly where you are. You know, maybe it's not breast cancer right now, but maybe it's, you know, any type of cancer or any type of ailment. You know, maybe you know you're having a hard time getting up in the morning with whatever it is that you're struggling with, and maybe you're feeling that darkness. Maybe you're feeling, you know, maybe you are handling it with positivity. That's amazing.

Speaker 1:

So we wanted you to kind of give those top five ways that you are handling this with grace. You know you are in the midst of your journey. You're in the middle of it. You know you're not at the tail end yet and you are handling it. So we wanted you to give those top five things in the midst of, you know, this journey to help those people that are in the middle of it. Whether it's breast cancer or any other cancer or any other ailment, you know what's pushing you through with style and grace that biggy style.

Speaker 2:

What's pushing you through? So, first of all, I feel like the physical aspect can definitely help with the mental. So in order to have a clear mental you know positive outlook, you have to feel physically good. I mean, listen, there are days when I don't feel physically good and I'm eating a cracker or a piece of toast, but on the days that I am feeling good, I want to make sure that I'm fueling my body with clean ingredients. There's just so much out there with processed food and all of that that's so bad for you, and I've researched all of this. So now my whole lifestyle has changed as far as what I'm putting in my mouth. So basically it's supplements and vitamins and making sure that I'm getting the lean proteins, and protein is a huge thing because it helps. You know, it helps you in all forms. So even if I can't eat a piece of chicken because I'm not feeling great, I have shakes that I have with minimum 30 grams of protein and I'll have a couple of those for the day.

Speaker 2:

So eating clean is huge. Supplements, vitamins, all of that Super, super important. The next thing that I would like to state is your mental, I guess. Basically, I just want you. Sometimes there's days when I'm not feeling so great, so I need a little boost and what do I do?

Speaker 1:

I kind of zone out I need a little zone out.

Speaker 2:

So I'll do that by watching either a movie that I've found funny and can watch a thousand times and laugh at still what's one movie it?

Speaker 1:

always does me in meet the parents. Oh, that's a good one.

Speaker 2:

Always makes me laugh, my cousin. Vinnie yes, my big friend prequetic, just movies that I know are going to get me laughing and putting a smile on my face, or even just watching mindless TV. You know.

Speaker 1:

Vanderpump rules. I got it to that. Any reality show. Any reality show, exactly I'm like you know what?

Speaker 2:

my life ain't that bad. Very true so we're good with that. The next thing I've been doing is I'm journaling. Now I'm not physically writing it in a journal with a pen and paper you can do that I'm just taking notes on my phone and I'm writing on the days and I'm having good days, what's a positive thing from today, what's a negative thing from today. But I'm getting it out, I'm putting it into the universe and we're moving on Days done, not stuffing it down.

Speaker 1:

Keep it moving, keep it moving.

Speaker 2:

And then when I do have those good days, I'm living them to the fullest. I'm banking on a good day. So when I wake up and I'm not feeling that nausea or I'm not feeling that headache and I wake up and I go, oh my God, it's gonna be a good day. I set the intention in the morning, it's gonna be a good day and nothing's going to change that. If my kids wanna scream and cry, I'm gonna become. I'm gonna be like you find out, get it girls. I ain't get it girls. I am not referee and you do your thing. Mama's staying positive, it is no blood, we're good.

Speaker 2:

No, exactly, you guys do your thing and keep them moving, but just really banking on them, enjoying every single moment, taking it and living intentionally, going out with my girls, taking them out, doing whatever it is I need to do just to have a good day with them, and banking on that. And then also it's important to do the things that I haven't been really able to do before the diagnosis. So like there was a whole months, two months I wasn't really able to sit and make dinner. I couldn't stand for that long, all of that stuff. So now doing those things again, bringing back the making dinner, bringing back taking the girls to the park, bringing back the going out for dinner or something. That is something that I was used to doing, familiar like a routine, Right exactly.

Speaker 2:

And just bringing back the routine, going back to the office because I've been working from home a lot Just doing stuff to get some normalcy and to be me again in a way, those are beautiful things.

Speaker 1:

I love it. So the 2024 vibe is if it's not bringing me joy, I'm out. I'm out. I love it.

Speaker 2:

I love everything about it.

Speaker 1:

We wanna thank you again for being with us in a recap and to just shed some light. Those five takeaways for anyone who is feeling that darkness right now, and we hope that that falls on the ears that needs to hear it. And for the ears that need to hear it again, go get your mammogram. Go get your mammogram. Make sure you advocate for yourself to ask for the ultrasound and if your doctor is saying I'm not really sure if you're covered, Find a new doctor.

Speaker 1:

Find a new doctor and if your insurance company is saying blah, blah blah, advocate for yourself, just be sure you ask questions Like it's just about asking some questions.
