040: Human Design Types, Ayurveda & Living Your Dharma: What Your Unique Blueprint Reveals About Your Soul's Purpose with DayLuna
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
Have you ever wondered why certain ways of working, deciding, and showing up feel completely natural — while others leave you exhausted, disconnected, and somehow less like yourself?
That is precisely the question Human Design was created to answer.
In this rich, wide-ranging conversation, Ananta Ripa Ajmera — 10-time award-winning bestselling author, Ayurveda teacher, and founder of The Ancient Way — sits down with Shayna Cornelius and Dana Stiles, bestselling authors of Your Human Design and co-founders of DayLuna, whose Human Design podcast has over two million downloads worldwide.
Human Design is the science of differentiation — a synthesis of Western astrology, the Chinese I Ching, the chakra system, the Kabbalah Tree of Life, quantum physics, and biogenetics that reveals your unique energetic blueprint and the specific way your soul is designed to navigate life, relationships, and dharma.
You'll discover:
- What Human Design is — and why it's one of the most powerful tools for understanding your dharma and living in alignment with your soul's true purpose
- The five Human Design types — Manifestor, Generator, Manifesting Generator, Projector, and Reflector — and what makes each one radically different in energy, aura, and life path
- Human Design authority — how sacral, splenic, and emotional authority each reveal a completely different way of making aligned decisions
- Open versus defined energy centers — and what your Human Design chart reveals about where you are most empathetic, where you absorb others' energy, and where your unique frequency transmits to the world
- The surprising intersection of Human Design and Ayurveda — including Human Design digestion types and how they mirror Ayurveda's understanding of individual constitution and gut health
- How to use Human Design in teams, families, and relationships — without letting it become a system of control rather than personal empowerment
- Shayna and Dana's own dark night of the soul — how leaving their careers, following the whispers of their soul, and discovering Human Design completely transformed their lives
- Why Human Design is not about becoming something new — but about unbecoming everything that was never authentically you
Whether you have had a Human Design reading before or are discovering it for the first time — and whether your path is rooted in Ayurveda, yoga, or any other wisdom tradition — this conversation will give you language for things you have always felt but never quite had words for.
Living your dharma is not about forcing yourself into a mold. It is about finally understanding the unique blueprint your soul arrived with — and having the courage to live from it.

The projector duo, which you'll understand what that means once we get into this interview, also wrote the bestselling book, Your Human Design: Discover Your Unique Life Path and How to Navigate It.
So welcome, Shaina. Welcome, Dana. Thank you. We're so, so grateful to be here with you today. Yes. Thank you so much for having us. We're excited to dive into human design with you. Yay. Amazing. Thank you. And so on this podcast, the most recent iteration of it has been an exploration of the nine-step spiritual hero's journey that is outlined in my second book, The Way of the Goddess.
And in the ninth step of this journey, we are really focusing on what does it mean to [00:02:00] lead and serve with integrity, and how to really take inventory of all of our gifts to be able to give back to the five entities of life, which are, uh, human beings in need, ancestors, to nature, to the divine, and to, um- Our teachers and those we learn knowledge from.
And this is basically what the whole journey is leading up to, step by step, as we heal ourselves, as we grow to become more stable, we learn to channel our energy, we embrace the power of transformation, we start to connect with the power of love in our hearts, the power of voice through our throat chakra, the power of intuition, of truth that sets us free, and the power of rejuvenation.
And it's all leading to this point of really connecting with the power of intention [00:03:00] to be able to live a life that can uplift others. Because in the Ayurveda tradition, uh, life is considered beneficial to the extent that it benefits not only oneself, but others as well. And to be healthy, one needs to actually live a beneficial life.
So I thought human design is such an amazing way to really go deeper into this exploration of how a person can take inventory of their own nature and makeup, and be able to then truly live a life that is very purpose-driven, that's authentic, and that's aligned with their deepest dharma or their, you know, personal calling for service.
So I'm really excited to talk to you about this. I have a lot of questions for you, uh, that I've come up with as I've read through your book and checked out my own design, checked out the design of other people whose info I happen to [00:04:00] have. But before we dive into all of that, I would actually love to hear about a time when you both were true to yourself, and how that transformed your life for the better, since this is after all the True to Yourself Podcast.
This is always a great way to get started getting to know one another. Wow, I love that. I love everything that you shared, and it is so resonant with the missions and the reasons behind human design, you know, the purpose behind human design. And, um, I love that question, when you are true to yourself. For us, when we discovered human design, was actually this kind of like quarter life crisis.
So Shayna and I have been best friends since college. We've known each other for a really long time now, and when we graduated college, we went out into the world and we got real jobs, I put in quotes. And, you know, only a few years into that we both were like, "This cannot be it. We are exhausted. We don't feel like our true selves.
This... [00:05:00] We feel like we followed all of the rules society laid out for us," but it still was just this deep, dark feeling of like, "This is not me. This is not who I am," and it's exhausting and draining on a soul level to be like that. So that kind of moment was sort of like a dark night of the soul that we ended up coming into in our own separate journeys at the same time, and that really led us to say, "If this is not it, then what is?"
And we just started committing- To learning and seeking and growing. And in that time, we were really being brave and bold in our choices, even though financially it didn't make sense. Like, we were going on retreats and going to Costa Rica and taking meditation classes, and just really committing to the whispers of our soul.
And that process led us to discovering human design. And so in that time, it was really exciting because it was sort of the first time as an adult that we had both given ourselves permission to just cast away society's rules and [00:06:00] ask ourselves, "What is actually calling you?" Even if it doesn't make sense, even if it feels scary and unknown, even if your parents are rolling their eyes at you that you're quitting your job even though you can't, you know, pay your rent.
Um, but it was really an exciting time that led us into being able to discover our human design and live our truth. And from that moment forward, living our truth through that lens and experimenting with our human design, I mean, our life has truly transformed, and we're just so grateful for that process.
But I like to think back towards that time, even before discovering human design, and seeing how alive it felt to give ourselves permission to explore and to get curious, even when it didn't make sense to other people. So I think that that was a time where I was really starting to reconnect with my truth for the first time as a young adult Yeah, and I would definitely agree that, that making a change in your career sounds super normal, right?
Everyone [00:07:00] can resonate with having to make changes in your career. But what we don't really talk about or give enough, um, I guess, credit to is how scary it is, and how it feels a lot of times for most of us like a breakup. Like, you can work a job where you are s- you know, you work there for 10 years, and you really identify with that job.
You identify with being an amazing boss or an amazing manager, or the person who can get everything done. But at the end of the day, you're, like, looking at the clock the whole time wondering, like, w- when, when can I get out? I c- I'm living for the weekends. I'm living for the evenings. And you find yourself feeling lost.
Like, who am I? Where am I going? Is my whole life just gonna be evenings and weekends and maybe two weeks a year where I get to travel? Is that what my life is supposed to be? And I think that so many people can resonate with that feeling. But then there's no... It just [00:08:00] stops there. It just keeps going into the rabbit hole of, okay, this is...
Everybody hates their job. We're just stuck here. Nobody... It's called work for a reason. We hear all of these things in our societal conditioning so much. And discovering human design was the first time that I felt like this is me. And I think my whole life I kind of h- heard that messaging. Like, just be yourself.
Be yourself and you're gonna be successful. And I'm like, "Okay, great. Who am I?" Like, I'd love to be myself, but I have no idea who the F that is. Like, how can I do that? And having human design come into my life, it was this aha moment of how has nobody told me this information before? It literally every single word gave language to the things that I felt but I didn't know were consistent for me.
And so choosing to say, okay, for one month, even though I don't know who I am, I don't know [00:09:00] where I'm going, I don't know how I'm gonna pay my bills, I don't know anything. I kept saying, "I know my name is Shana." And- I'm just going to choose for one month to use my strategy and authority, which are the two main practices in human design of how you navigate your day-to-day, uh, interactions with people and with yourself, and also how you make decisions consistently based off of a specific decision-making center in your body.
So I said, "Okay, for one month," we both did this, "we are gonna use our strategy and authority." And literally in that month, everything in our lives changed, which sounds crazy, but it did. We had so many invitations coming in. We had so many ideas and opportunities come our way, and then it's just the bravery of really being able to listen and take action on what you're feeling.
And I think that that's really the pivotal point for me when it comes to choosing myself, is you hear that insight, you hear that intuition, you hear [00:10:00] that calling, and then choosing to take the action to go into the unknown versus staying in a box that is comfortable and cozy, and like, I could do this, and it makes sense, and it makes money.
But tru- choosing to listen to that inner calling. So obviously there's so many things that we've navigated throughout our lives and, um, but career has been one of the places that when you get to show up as your full self 100% of your day, not just 20% on the evenings and then on the weekends, it, it really aligns you with the right people, the right soulmates, the right soul contracts, the right places.
Everything else falls into place 'cause you're not just living in alignment, for example, on your free time. You really get to do that and play with that all the time. So work has just been a huge place that we've seen, not only in our lives, but other people's lives, that can truly transform every aspect of your [00:11:00] life when you commit to following your purpose, living your dharma, as you said.
Wow, so amazing. So amazing. So I think you've already planted some seeds of curiosity in people now to wonder, what is a strategy? What is an authority? But before even we go into that, what, in a nutshell, is human design? How would you even describe it to someone who's never heard of it before? Yeah. So human design is the science of differentiation.
It is this science that's showing us how we are unique and what our unique energy looks like, and it's a system that was downloaded by a man named Ra Uru Hu in the late '80s, and he had sort of this mystical experience where he connected with a higher entity that he calls The Voice, and was able to download the understanding of all of these ancient modalities, ancient sciences, and the way that they overlap, the way they come together to show one big picture.
And being [00:12:00] able to connect that with modern science, with quantum physics, with biogenetics, and really looking at, how do these ancient systems like Western astrology, the Chinese I Ching, the chakra system, the Kabbalah Tree of Life, looking at the way our energy flows throughout the physical, energetic body.
Looking at the zodiac energy and the stars and the cosmic patterns, and then bringing that all into the physical DNA. How do those different traits and characteristics correspond with the codons in our DNA and the genetics that we're inheriting? So it's a very complex synthesis system, but you can get your unique blueprint and look at- How does my energetic body or my energetic vehicle operate?
Because we all operate differently. We all have different types of energy. We like to liken that to imagining if there's different types of cars in your body. There's, like, five different types of cars, and some cars are gas, and some cars are diesel, and some cars are hybrid. And if you're putting diesel in a regular [00:13:00] gas car, it is going to burn out over time.
So you're really looking at your energetic vehicle and seeing, how do I operate that energy correctly so that I'm able to create sustainable overall health and wellbeing? And in that same process, you're able to use your energy in relationship to others with more harmony, with more ease because all of those different energetic vehicles have a specific aura that exchanges information and energy with others in a unique way.
So for example, manifestors, which is one of the human design types, their aura is really designed to impact and initiate other people. They have this really strong, powerful presence, and their aura's also very, very dense. It almost ha- has, like, a wall where people can't read what they're thinking or feeling.
So for them, it's not only knowing, how do I keep my manifestor energy healthy and vital, which is, you know, by doing spurts of work and then taking time off and [00:14:00] resting. They have really inconsistent amounts of energy, so it's being able to practice that for their own health and wellbeing. But also, how do I sh- practice a strategy that's going to help me work with my aura so that I am creating more harmony and ease with my relationships instead of the friction that can come from being so powerful but being so hard to read?
So it's really kind of looking at the energetics of that, and then it gets way more specific, very, very detailed, um, looking at, what exactly are your energetic qualities? How do you share those with the world? In what ways are you empathetic in taking in and experiencing other people's energy, and in what ways are you transmitting your own consistent energy?
It tells you about your life purpose and even gets into your energetic digestion, the type of environments that your energetic system will thrive in, s- um, if you're left-brained or right-brained. I mean, it gets so, so detailed that I think when you first come into it, that's really exciting because [00:15:00] we love systems that are so complex because as humans, we are so complex.
And we were always turned off by systems that sort of boxed you in or labeled you in. And one of the things that we loved about human design is that it is so incredibly specific when you get into the depths of your chart. It's undeniable how much it resonates, but you also can just kind of come in to the very first layer, your type, the strategy that comes with your type, and then your authority, your decision-making.
And just knowing those three things- Everything in your life will start to change, and you'll come into alignment with the highest expression of all of the specifics. So our job, I think, as human design guides is to really do the hard work for you, process how do we guide people through this, and definitely helping people practice the embodiment of their design through understanding their type, strategy, and authority because those are the things that will truly change your life Wow, that's so interesting.
And [00:16:00] so would you be able to describe what the types and strategies are? Just a- Yeah ... review of it? Yeah, and we can definitely talk about each of these types for hours. So- Yeah. ... just so everyone listening, there's so much more to discover about your type than what we're gonna talk about here. But there's five main types, and as that sounds, you know, these are the broadest categories, right?
Every single person falls into one of these five types, and this is just the starting point, and then it gets really specific. So no two manifestors are the same. No two projectors are the same, right? Mm-hmm. Um, you're ... We're all gonna have different blueprints, different life purposes, different ways that we're empathetic and, uh, uh, conditioning other people.
But the first type, like Dana was talking about, um, that we wanna get into is manifestors. So this is less than 10% of the population, and their aura is that impactful but also has that kind of closed quality [00:17:00] where people can't really read you. And so that can set it up for people feeling like- They don't know what you're gonna do.
Every word that you say, every action that you take feels impactful, but they can't read what it is that you're gonna do, so they can feel a tendency to want to control you, to want to box you in. And to a manifestor, it feels like, "I'm just doing my own thing. Why does everybody care about what I'm gonna do, what I'm gonna eat, what I'm gonna say?
Like, I just wanna be doing my thing, be left in peace. I shouldn't have to worry about what other people are thinking or anticipating I'm gonna do. And also, I don't wanna be controlled." So for manifestors, their strategy is called informing, and this actually feels a little counterintuitive for manifestors to do because their self-theme is peace, wanting to do their own thing.
And so informing can feel like, "Why do I need to do that?" But when you start to inform, it creates almost like this window into your aura [00:18:00] where people can then get on board with what it is that you're wanting to do. They feel included in your energetic, uh, processes to where that controlling energy, whether they realize they're doing it or not, dissipates and goes away, and they actually come on board to support you.
So informing and telling people, "This is what I'm thinking. This is what I'm feeling. This is what I'm over or bored with or wanting to do next," telling people, "I don't feel like talking right now," that's still informing. Mm-hmm. And you're letting people know where you're at versus them trying to guess, like, "What's wrong?
Why, why aren't they talking to me right now? Are they mad at me? Did I do something wrong?" There's all this guessing and assuming that goes on when a manifestor isn't truly informing. Mm-hmm. And so it just releases all of that resistance, all of that tension by telling people all around you what it is that you're doing and thinking.
Now, the amazing thing as a manifestor is that your voice rallies energy in the [00:19:00] people and the universe around you. So you saying out loud, "I'm confused by this. I don't know what the solution is, but I'm wanting it ch- a change," then you're gonna start to notice people in your life popping up and saying, "Oh, I just ran into this person.
They might be perfect to help you manage this project or work on this... you know, take this workload off." Or you might notice the universe starting to bring you different opportunities. So the main thing that we wanna plant with manifestors is speak, speak, speak, open your mouth, talk to the universe, talk to the people around you.
It's going to rally that energy, and you will receive so much more support than you can even realize just trying to micromanage and think everything through in your head to get it perfect before you share it with the world. Um, so for manifestors, they're initiating, right? And then the next type would be generators, and generators are around 37% of the population, and [00:20:00] they have this energy- Where they can create, they generate this energy every single day.
So they can work on projects, they can build things, they can get things done, and it can feel really satisfying for them to be caring and nurturing and creative and building things. And at the end of the day, they go to bed exhausted, and they can wake up the next day with a whole new battery of energy.
Now, this is only true if generators are working on things that they love And that's the key. A lot of times, because generators have this capable energy where they can do something, they feel like they should do something. Mm-hmm. So it leads itself really well to people-pleasing, and to putting your head down and just working hard, to getting through what's needed, versus doing and working on things that you truly, genuinely love.
And generators' aura is [00:21:00] so different than the manifestors. Manifestors have that impactful closed quality, whereas generators are open and enveloping, and people feel really comfortable really quickly around a generator. They feel included in their aura, and then they feel that zest of energy. They're capable.
They can do it. So people feel really inclined to be able to ask generators to do things for them, whether they realize it or not. And so it's up to the generator to start saying no if they don't wanna do something. So for generators, their strategy is called responding, and this is all about listening to their body instead of their mind, of all the shoulds, but listening to their body and checking in.
Do I have energy in my body to be working on this thing, or replying to this text, or making this meal? Or do I feel nothing? Just like, sure, it's whatever I can, so it's fine. Or do I feel like I'm drudging through the mud to answer that call, or to go to that meeting, or to show up for that dinner? [00:22:00] And if that's the case, can I say no?
So letting your body guide you versus your mind is the goal as a generator, but it h- has to be paired with presence. Because if you are 10 steps ahead in your mind, you're not even really getting the signals from your body in this present moment, what do I have energy towards and what don't I? And a lot of times, generators operate from a place of mediocrity, of, um, settling, where they're just kind of on autopilot, and they're just going through the motions, and they're not paying attention to their body's signals of what it's responding to.
So for all the generators listening, I would encourage you to slow down a bit, get really present, and ask, like, "What's actually here in front of me? How is my body feeling? Do I have energy towards this or not? Does it feel blah?" That's mediocre. And ... Or, "Do I feel like I'm drudging through the mud? And then can I listen?"
And if you feel blah or [00:23:00] if you feel drudging through the mud, I encourage you to move your body around. Go open your fridge. Go look at your car. Go step outside. Pull up a different tab on your computer. And until you feel energy in your body turn on of like, oh, and you're just naturally jumping in to reply to that email, or call that person, or make that meal, that is your body trying to guide you to be in the right place at the right time.
Because all of the types can manifest, all of the types can initiate, all of the types can guide and create businesses and empires and all the things. It's just human design is telling you based on your aura, your type, this is how you go about manifesting, initiating, guiding, building, creating all the things that you desire and that you want.
So for a generator, the way that they go about building is increasing their magnetism, and that is by allowing Your body to lead you to be in the right place at the right time, to overhear that conversation, to bump into that thing that [00:24:00] you're like, "That's what I wanna do next." And then you can take action from that place, but it's coming from a place of response, of listening to your body versus trying to swim upstream with your mind of what makes sense, what do I have to force, what do I have to do?
Your body has all of the insight and wisdom that you need to get you where you wanna go. And so it's just about tuning in and listening to your body as a generator. And so then the next type is a manifesting generator, and this is a hybrid of the two, manifestor and a generator. So Dana, do you wanna talk about manifesting generators?
Yeah, so as a manifesting generator, you're really like a generator type with a variation of that manifestor flavor. So your strategy is the same as a generator, to respond. And that means staying present, listening to what your body is actually saying in response to the things in front of you. Does this energize me?
It's meant for me. It's aligned for me. Does this not energize me? It's not. I'm gonna pivot. So just the same way as a generator. And also, manifesting generators [00:25:00] have this quality where they can really initiate people and inspire people and impact people, and they're kind of quick. They move on to new things really easily.
They master things really easily. So just like a manifestor, they can seem really impactful, but kind of unpredictable. And once again, people can try to unconsciously control them or dim their light to make them make more sense. So for a manifesting generator, practicing a secondary strategy of informing, letting people know what you're thinking, what you're wanting to do next, if you're, you're bored and you've mastered something and you're ready to pivot.
By just informing, it helps rally harmony and ease, and people will really get more on board for you. But the main difference between a generator and a manifesting generator is that a manifesting generator moves much more quickly, and their focus of what they're engaging their energy on creatively is going to change a lot more frequently.
So a lot of manifesting generators end up having a lot of different talents, a lot of different passions, potentially even multiple [00:26:00] careers at once or a career that has a lot of different facets and a lot of different diversity in the way that they're using their energy. And that's really important for them for overall sustainability.
Whereas a generator can be a bit more singular in their focus. When they are engaged with something and their body has responded to something, they can pour into that thing for hours, um, you know, three or four hours or even all day long depending on what it is. Whereas a man gen sees that thing, engages with it, does it for about an hour and a half, and is like, "Okay, I'm ready to move on."
So for both of those two types, they really play this overall role of being a creative builder. And it is so important that they're not sacrificing their powerful creative energy doing things that don't actually light them up. It's the hu- the biggest shift of all that they can make, is really being discerning- Only saying yes to things that light them up.
And together, the generators and manifesting generators make up, up about 70% of the population. So the majority of the world is built on this sacral energy that comes [00:27:00] from these two types. And so if those t- those people are not actually living in the highest expression of what they're wanting to do, they're not tuned into their bodies, they're really robbing the world of this powerful, creative life force energy that the rest of us sort of rely on.
Projectors or manifestors rely on the sacral energy of those who have that. Um, so we really all kind of work together and play our different roles supporting one another. And that brings us to projectors, which Shane and I are both projectors, and when we discovered that, it was, like, the biggest light bulb moment of all time.
It made so much sense. It also made a lot of sense of why we always moved through the world in the same way or c- came up against the same challenges and felt a bit different than a, a lot of our other friends. So projectors are more rare, less than 20% of the population, and projectors are designed to have inconsistent energy levels.
They are what we call a non-energy being, and that just means on their own, they [00:28:00] do not generate consistent energy, whether they love something or not, and they really can- feed on the, the sacral energy coming from generators or manifesting generators. They can take that in and sort of ride off of those fumes, but on their own, some days they'll have energy to work on things they love, and some days they won't.
So for a projector, it's all about working smarter, not harder, being more efficient, only working two to four hours a day of energy expenditure, and the rest of the time doing things that feel more like nourishing. And you could still be working, but not kind of pouring out that energy. And overall, projectors have this aura that is designed to penetrate into the other, and it focuses in on the other, especially other people.
They're always going di- dipping into people's energy and, and wondering, what makes this person tick? How are they unique? How are they different? So they're very psychologically minded, and they're really curious in how energy [00:29:00] works in the world, especially in different people. In that same way, they can really dip their energy into businesses or systems or processes.
They're always wanting to tweak things and the guide the energy use of others, and that really is their main role. So instead of doing and building or initiating, they are really here overall to guide the energy use of others. And it doesn't mean that they can't build their own business. It doesn't mean that they can't create something.
It just means they can only work on those things two to four hours a day if it feels like it's expending energy. Otherwise, overall, you'll run into a lot of health issues. You'll run into severe burnout, and any of the types can have burnout. But we meet a lot of projectors that if they've been working in a nine-to-five job for many years, they can do it, and they've been conditioned that they have to, and they've never been told that it's okay to not.
But then, you know, they reach a certain p- uh, point where sometimes they run into autoimmune thing, issues, and it's not... They're not really sure why. And when they discover that they're a projector and they're actually a non-energy being, it starts to make a lot of [00:30:00] sense. So with projectors being here to see into other people and then guide other people, it's important that they follow their strategy of waiting for the invitation.
So not giving unsolicited advice when it's not welcome, because that never goes well. That creates a lot of friction, feels really repelling for other people. And instead, projectors are really here to focus on their unique insight, their zone of genius, their fascinations, the way that they see the world, and to just be that on their own, in their own aura, and let people recognize them, let people come to them and welcome in that advice.
Then that is the correct energetic exchange for projectors. And then lastly, reflectors, which are only 1% of the population. So they are like our human design unicorns. They have a very special energy and a very special role, and they are completely open. They are completely empathetic beings. So their energy, their aura, is designed to [00:31:00] take in the energy of other people and reflect that energy back.
So they temporarily become the energy of other people. They temporarily experience that energy from the world around them inside their own being. And through experiencing other people's energies in an embodied way, they can become really wise about seeing more deeply who is authentic and healthy and who is not.
So reflectors are like our mirrors. They take in our energy, we see ourselves in them, and they can really show us where we need to grow, where we need to become better, where we're unhealthy. So ideally, we'd have one reflector in a community of 100 people, and that one reflector, we all look to them to see, how are we all doing?
Are we doing healthy and well or are we not? And the reflector's body and being will almost be like a temperature gauge to show us how healthy and well and authentic we all are. So if that reflector is having a lot of health issues or they're not doing well, we [00:32:00] know that that's a reflection of the totality of their community that they're mirroring or reflecting back.
So if anyone has a reflector in their life, it's really important to, to understand that they are acting, or their body is becoming the mirror of the energy that they're around. And so for reflectors, their strategy is waiting a 28-day lunar cycle before they make important life decisions. And the reason for that is because reflectors are very deeply connected to the moon.
When all of the other types are more solar beings, reflectors are lunar beings, and they're... Throughout a month-long lunar cycle- The month transits through all of the 64 gates in the wheel of human design, so all of these different, um, experiences will be lit up inside of a reflector in that one month, and they need to allow themselves to shape-shift and become something new every day, and reflect their environments, and empty out.
And through that month-long process, that's how much time it really can take to find true clarity about what they wanna do, [00:33:00] instead of just getting swept up in the reflections of what other people are doing or what they want. So we tried to keep that short with the five types, but it never is, because we could talk about them forever.
Um, but knowing that just knowing your type and just starting to practice your strategy is enough to completely change your life. So I'm excited for anyone listening to pull up your chart. You can do that on our website, deLunalife.com, or any other place online, and all you need to do is enter in your birth time information, and you'll pull up your chart that has all these numbers and letters and symbols, and you're like, "Oh my gosh, what does any of this mean?"
But you can just look at those written categories, you can see your type there, and just start kind of experimenting with that strategy and seeing how it feels to you. 'Cause at the end of the day, we really like to say that human design is an experiment, and by you trying it on for size and living it, you really start to see for yourself, does this feel more authentic for you?
What happens in your life when you're living in this way? Are you more magnetic? Do [00:34:00] you have more harmony in your relationships? And experimenting for yourself is really where the magic happens. Wow. Thank you. That was like a masterclass on- ... the one a- just one aspect of human- Yeah ... design, which tells us how deeply layered all of this is.
It's so, so fascinating. So I learned in doing my chart that I am a generator, so what you were saying about that does really resonate. And even about the having an emotional authority. Yeah. I think that was a really interesting revelation that it had said in your book that I should always pause before making a decision for at least 24 hours up to one week.
And sometimes I find I now give myself permission to even take longer than that for certain things if needed. But it's really helpful actually and validating to know that I need to, you know, make decisions [00:35:00] in a space of neutrality, that it won't be something that I'll just automatically know. A lot of times people, like, I think I read in your book about when people have sacral authority, they just instinctively know and they say yes or no.
And I feel like a lot of people in the world kind of expect you to be like that, you know? Where you should just know, and you know it, yes or no. But for some of us, like me, it doesn't work like that. And I feel it has given me a lot of permission to accept that part about myself, and to know that I will choose better when I just take more time.
Yeah. And that's the amazing thing with human design, is that it liberates you to stop comparing yourself to other people. Yeah. And it also, um, liberates... Oh, there's a motorcycle going by. Um, it also liberates other people, right? You are able to then hold space for your differences and their [00:36:00] differences.
And so- With our authorities, this is such a great example. About 50% of the population has emotional authority- Wow ... where they are designed to sleep on a big decision and really make sure that they're emotionally neutral, and then ask themselves, like, "Will this make me happy from a neutral place?" And then about the other half of the population has some sort of authority that is more in the moment.
So with sacral authority, it's trusting your gut, right? Yeah. With splenic authority, it's trusting that intuition, that subtle voice of this just feels right, this just feels wrong. And so if you have emotional authority and you don't know it, you might tell someone who has sacral authority, "You know what?
This is a big decision. Why don't you sleep on it? Like, really don't rush into this. Just sleep on it." And for that person who has this gut instinct, that can really pull them away from their truth. Yeah. And it's coming from a place of love, right? It's like, "This is what works for me, so I'm recommending that you do this, because this is [00:37:00] such a huge investment or decision or whatever."
Right. And then now this sacral authority person has slept on this thing, and they feel like, "Well, I don't know what's right. I don't know what my truth is. I don't know what I want." And they feel confused, and now they feel lost, and vice versa, right? If somebody has sacral authority and they tell someone that they love, "Just trust your gut," and they are in an emotional high, and so they're like, "Hell yeah, let's do it."
And then a week goes by, and they're like, "Why did I say yes to that? I don't wanna do that. I was just in a really great mood." Or they were in a low, and they're like, "No, it just sounds like too much." And a week goes by, and they're like, "You know what? That was such a great opportunity. I wish I said yes to that."
So we can pull people away from their truth out of love, trying to support them with what works for us. But when you understand exactly how you're different, you can then let the, the comparison and even a lot of times judgment go, and just honor what works for you. Start [00:38:00] playing with it. So for anyone listening, if you see sacral authority written on your chart, I would encourage you for your next decision, medium or big decision that you have, trust your gut, that first thing that you feel, that hell yes or hell no.
If you have splenic authority, trust those instincts, that feels right or just feels wrong. Go with that first thing that you heard. And if you have emotional authority, give yourself that time. Really check in, like, where am I emotionally? Am I kinda high? Am I kinda low? Because people with emotional authority create an emotional wave where you can have an emotional experience, high or low, for no reason, and it doesn't have to be attached to something that happened to you in your day.
So that emotion can really color your truth. So it's so important with big decisions that you are really giving yourself that time. So I love that you brought this up. There's eight different authorities, and obviously we won't get into all of them. But those are the three most common authorities, sacral, splenic, and emotional.
Um, and there's other ones that are more unique, where, like, for me, example, I have to talk it out to hear my truth, and then once I speak, I can hear, oh, this feels like it's on my path, or this feels like it's, like, a parallel path for some reason. There's other authorities where it's all about your [00:01:00] environment and using your mind, actually, but then going to environments that feel really good for you.
So what human design is teaching us with our authorities is how to listen to our body, once again, versus our mind when it comes to making decisions. Our minds are amazing at analyzing, at creating, at teaching and sharing. They're amazing at observing and quantifying things. We're here to use our minds.
Our minds are brilliant. But human design is really t- teaching us that your mind is not here to make your personal decisions for you. Your mind is here to be the observer of your life and to teach and share with others. But your body, some consistent place for you, is here to help you access your unique intuition that is always right and to make those decisions with you.
So tuning into whatever area in your body that is and experimenting with it, literally life-changing. And the first time that we did it, we were shocked, like, [00:02:00] oh my gosh, I've been doing this, I just didn't know that was consistent. Or the last decision I made, I was trying to do it as a sacral authority. I heard my whole life, "Trust your gut.
Trust your gut." Mm-hmm. And I kept saying, "I don't think I have a gut." Like, I don't... I've never once in my life had a gut feeling. I don't know what that means. And now I know why. So it's just really liberating and so fun to experiment with, and it feels, that feeling of, "This is me," right? That you just can't, nobody else can give you.
You have to really experiment and feel for yourself, does this feel like me or does it feel not like me, um, and see, see how it resonates. Yeah, that's so fascinating because that's so true. I have been told by so many people to either trust gut or trust that little whisper of intuition, but really that was that person reflecting that they would have had, now I can say, a splenic authority or a sacral [00:03:00] authority, and trying to advise me to do something that kind of goes against my authority, because my emotions can color what I decide about something.
And so the more I just pull in and get to that space of neutrality, the better off I'm going to be to really, you know, move forward. So I think this, it really does help us to become more self-sufficient and sovereign beings, and also to understand other people in our lives better, which is really, really so important.
I also found it really fascinating that in human design, because it is such a integrated system, there's also an inclusion of the chakra system, which is something that I am very familiar with, with my work and my second book, and just, you know, it's a very key part of the Indian spiritual philosophy and system.
Can you share a little bit about how the chakras are playing a [00:04:00] role in human design, and specifically what is the difference between what you're calling open versus closed chakras in a person's design? Yeah, so we call these energy centers in the human design system. And, you know, the same exact thing of being a, a pl- a hub that processes energy, that either takes in energy and process it, processes it, or processes it within you and then puts it out.
And so when you pull up your body graph chart, your human design chart, you'll see a shape that looks like your body with those nine different centers that are either triangles or diamonds or squares. And any center of the nine that is colored in, it doesn't matter what the color is, is a defined center for you.
This means in this energy center, you are processing the world and the energy you're experiencing in your own consistent way, and then putting your unique energetic frequency and signature out into the world. So this is a place where it's you only process with your [00:05:00] you-ness, and then you transmit that out into the world and way show other people, "This is the way I process my emotions," for example.
"This is the way I process my mental thoughts," for example. And you're not really being swayed by other people in your highest expression. You're the one who's here to sway others with your unique way. And then any of the energy centers that are white in your chart, that are not colored in, these are places that are undefined or open for you.
These are places where you're taking in the energy from other people, like a receiver, and you are literally processing their energy in your own body. So you're processing their emotions, for example, or their mental ideas as your own in your own body. And so you can become really wise in those centers because you're taking in different people's way of processing emotions, different people's way of processing, um, thoughts and ideas, different people's way of speaking, for example.
Each energy center has its own, you know, flavor. And [00:06:00] in those undefined centers, it can be confusing because the energy feels so inconsistent for you. It's like sometimes I'm feeling these type of emotions depending on who I'm around. Some people, I'm s- experiencing this other way. So you remember when we were talking about the reflector type.
They have all nine of their energy centers undefined. So for anyone that has, you know, two or three undefined, it's almost like you're a reflector in that way, that you're taking in other people's energy, temporarily experiencing it in your own being, and actually even at an amplified rate. So in those places that are a white center for you, these sources of empathy, you're...
Let's say you had an undefined solar plexus, which is, like, your emotional center. You're taking in the emotions of other people, experiencing them in your own body at an amplified version. So if that person is upset at a level two, you're gonna feel it upset at a level four, and that's to help you really decipher exactly what it is that they're feeling so that you can become wise about observing that and holding space for that person, and then you're here to [00:07:00] let that energy go- Mm
and not hold onto it as if it's your own. So that's a big daily practice for all of us. Most of us will have at least one undefined center. Um, and if you're not a reflector, then you'll have at least two defined centers. So we're mostly all of us are a mix. And understanding in which areas am I a way shower, and I'm here to transmit my way of processing these things, and in which ways am I empathetic, I'm here to take in, understand other people, but then process that and let it go and not hold onto it.
Because without this knowledge, you can take in someone else's emotion with your undefined emotional center, and then identify with it, and hold onto it, and prolong that experience for days, for weeks, for months. I mean, our awareness is so powerful. It's amazing the way we can keep ourselves stuck or the way that we can clear ourselves and allow ourselves to be free and flowing, [00:08:00] and just having that awareness alone is actually the, the goal.
Um, but it's really fascinating to see which percentage of transmitter and way shower am I, and which percentage of empathy and receiver and processing other people's, um, energy in my body am I. Now, that's really fascinating because I feel like- A lot of spiritual seekers tend to be empaths, which means you take on, what you were saying, other people's emotions as your own.
And so the reflector type with all the open energy centers is really like the ultimate empath, right? Like, they're like- Yes ... a sponge that takes in other people's, and it's like they don't have their own sort of way of being or energy resource or, you know, anything like that. But they're simply here to reflect back to others what their nature is.
[00:09:00] So that's really, really fascinating. And I found it also interesting looking at my own chart that I had all filled in ones except for one. Wow. So that one felt very important. Which, do you know which center it is? Yeah. So the only open one I have is throat. Is your throat center. Wow. Wow. That's so fascinating.
So, um, it's interesting because when a lot of us when we hear about a reflector and being a chameleon, we can feel like I'm... That I'm that. Yeah I resonate with, with chameleoning, or I resonate with being an empath and feeling other people, and that's because we all have places where we are empathetic, where we are reflecting, where we are chameleoning into other people.
Um, most of us do. Some people have a fully defined chart, but that's really rare. Um- Yeah ... but... And it is really rare to only have one center de- undefined as well, like you do. [00:10:00] But, um- I was wondering about that. I was like- Yeah ... I'll ask them about that, 'cause this seems a little different. Like, I would think most people would have a combination, you know?
Yes. So I'm like, "Okay, uh, this is really interesting." But each center is, um, it tells you exactly how you are empathetic, right? So with the broader s- statements that we often hear in a lot of the different, you know, spaces within the spiritual community, it's like, you know, "You're highly sensitive," or, "You're an empath," but it's like, okay, but in what way?
Am I empathetic to people's thoughts and perspectives, and I'm really seeing how others see the world? Am I empathetic to their emotions, and I'm feeling when somebody's feeling emotional turmoil as if I'm feeling it, versus I have compassion for their emotional experiences because I've been there, felt that?
So I can sit alongside them almost like therapist energy. Mm-hmm. But I'm not necessarily feeling their emotions in my body. Um- And then for your undefined throat, [00:11:00] this is a huge area to have undefined because you are really sensitive to what people are needing, what they're trying to say but maybe they can't get the words to.
You're really good at giving voice to the voiceless, so to a modality, to plants, to animals, to a system, to a group of people who maybe have been marginalized. Um, people who have an undefined throat are really good at At helping people get their needs met. And so you can see in all of these different ways, having an undefined throat, you can, you can feel like I feel other people's emotions, but really you're feeling what people need, and you're helping them get what they're needing, and, um, give voice to that.
Lend your voice to that. Help them say what it is that they've been trying to say for years, and that might be to a system, right? You might be helping this, um, this energy or this entity give voice to something that it's been trying to [00:12:00] share with the collective for a thousand years, right? Like, it can be as pro- huge and profound as you want, or it could be one-on-one.
Like, "Okay, so what I'm really hearing you say, or what I'm really feeling you need is this." And so it's a huge place to have empathy. We see a lot of people who have this who are, um, leaders, like having a podcast or writing a book. Because you're able to channel all of these things through your voice and communicate it with different- on different topics in different ways.
So that way it really lends your voice to whatever that topic is trying to say. So it's, it's truly an amazing place of empathy, but it's so helpful to get specific, right? If somebody has an undefined spleen like Dana and I do, we feel if people are feeling toxic or if they feel sick or if they feel fear.
And not having awareness of that, I literally would get sick all the time, and I would identify with it, and I'd [00:13:00] go on a whole journey of going to doctors and trying to figure it out and trying to find the resolution, and there never was one. There never was any solution, and it created so much anxiety and fear in my life.
And then when I had this realization, literally I could use my awareness, and the a- ailment would go away within a few days versus the years that I'd been trying to work this thing out of my system. So the awareness with your undefined throat is knowing that you c- you are here to lend your voice. You are here to feel the needs of others.
And of course, you don't- that doesn't mean that you have to save the day and sacrifice yourself for other people's needs. It's just knowing, like, okay, th- what is my body having energy towards as a generator to lend my voice towards? And then if it's a big decision, like do I wanna invest in this project or write this new book?
Will it make... From a neutral place, sleeping on it, will it make [00:14:00] me happy to start this project and lend my voice in this way? And I just wanted to add onto that, that human design really plays with this binary energy where everything has a high expression and a low expression, and an inward expression and an outward expression.
There's always the yin and the yang, and those are really important themes that are interwoven into literally every detail of human design. So with all of the stuff that we're talking about, we really like to speak about the highest expression, because that's what our, our goal, is to move into that. And the more that we're talking about that and focusing on that, it just becomes easier to make that your norm.
But there's also a low expression of every single thing in your human design chart. There's also a challenge or a fear or whatever it is. And knowing that I feel like is so powerful because at the end of the day, human design is about evolution and transformation, but it's not about changing who you are.
You are not here to change who you are. You are here to embrace who you are, to [00:15:00] understand who you are, to accept who you are, and to transform your energy from the lowest expression to the highest expression, not to become something different than what you are, have always meant, been meant to be. So human design is not really a process of, like, becoming something new.
It's about unbecoming all the things that you have ta- taken on that are not you, and allowing yourself to just transform the energy, the same energetic structures and geometric patterns within you. You're just simply turning on the highest expression of those same qualities. That's been something that has been incredibly liberating for me because I feel like in the self-help world, you know, going on this journey of reading about myself, of...
At first I felt really hard on myself. Like, "What am I doing? I'm not doing anything right. Why don't I have enough energy to do X, Y, and Z?" And human design was this first time that I really felt like, what if all of the challenges that you've had, your greatest [00:16:00] weaknesses, are actually your greatest strengths?
You just need to learn how to utilize them You just need to learn how to do that alchemy of transforming something, transforming that energy in a really natural flow. And it took the dread out of transformation because I realized that you already have everything inside of yourself that you could ever possibly need.
And your unique human design blueprint is an incredible detailed plan. Your soul chose every single aspect on purpose. There's no part of your design that is a mistake. There's no part of your design that's a punishment. All of it in its highest expression truly is, is everything that you need to accomplish what your soul came here to do.
So for me, being a projector, I don't need to have consistent energy to accomplish my dharma in this lifetime. That's not how I'm designed. I am designed to reach my goals with exactly the amount of energy that I have. And just knowing that there's no flaws in you, but there is always room to grow and evolve and transform, [00:17:00] and you're empowered to go on that journey, I think that's something that is a really beautiful takeaway.
Oh, wow. It's so fascinating. So, so interesting. And I also saw that there are different types of digestion in a person's human design chart, and in Ayurveda, digestion is considered the key to overall health. A lot of the other systems of health and wellness are also coming to that conclusion nowadays as well with the gut microbiome and just, you know, this deeper understanding of the connection between the gut health and overall health and immunity.
But I just thought it was so interesting that there are unique ways that people are meant to digest their food, and I would imagine emotions and information in. And I saw that mine, for example, is a closed [00:18:00] digestion, which actually validated why I love to eat alone, and I tend to process my emotions in solitude.
Like, I f- find a lot of clarity from just being by myself and being quiet and being able to tune inward to go through whatever I need to go through and to really, you know, process and digest. And yet not everyone is like that. It was showing how different people need different things. Some people have the opposite.
They need to eat with people. They need to - ... you know, talk to people and process through with, with others, and some people need to, you know, eat in a certain kind of environment in order to feel that ease. And so would you be able to just briefly touch on that? Because that actually gives a whole nother way of even working with people Ayurvedically now, I feel.
Yes, absolutely. This is such a fascinating deeper l- level of human design that's part of the [00:19:00] primary health system, which is, like, a- another aspect of human design, and they are so fascinating. Three of the... There's, so there's six main diets, but once again, it's a binary, so you could be on either side of these six diets, so really it's like there's 12.
Yeah. Um, but three of the main diets, it's all about actually the conditions of the food itself, and that being something that helps support your digestion, and then the other three are much more about the quality of, uh, the environment that you're digesting in. And it is really fascinating that it is focused on digestion, not so much nutrition, and it's like, no matter what you're eating, how healthy it is, if you're not digesting it properly, you're not nourishing your brain and your body and everything else along with it.
So it is ac- absolutely digesting information, digesting experiences as well. Um, but for example, I have nervous touch diet, which means that I need to be in an environment that has a lot of stimulation. There needs to be- movement and sound and buzzing, [00:20:00] and like it c- I can't be actually in a super quiet, peaceful, internal space.
Otherwise, my digestion can be very sluggish and slow. And, you know, on my own just sitting down and having a meal, I, I don't digest that food properly, and afterwards I just feel so lethargic. And I feel like I, I don't know too much about Ayurveda, but I know that I have a lot of this, like, Kapha energy and that I can be really sluggish and tired and slow.
And it's so interesting experimenting with my human design diet, creating stimulation in my environment. I even stand up and dance while I'm eating lunch to create stimulation because I'm home alone. Um, or going out to eat and being in a restaurant where there's tons of people talking and music and things happening.
It feels so good for my digestion, which is l- so different than what I've always been taught. My entire life people were like, "You need to sit down and just eat your meal, and just focus and sit there and eat until you're done." Like, especially as a child, I was told that so much, and it's the complete opposite is what's best for me.
So it's [00:21:00] really interesting when we talk about conditioning. You know, our human design is really, like, our nature, what is natural for us in our makeup, and then we have our nurture, our conditioning, what we're taught to b- to do. Um, so for us as projectors, we've been taught you need to work, you need to prove your value, and that's not really right for us.
But we have so much conditioning around food, around eating, and these diets, you'll even see a baby wanting to eat in this way or wanting to digest their food in this way. It can be supported from a really young age. We're just so taught that it doesn't make any sense and that we can't all be that way.
Um, Shayna, for example, has hot thirst diet, and this means that she needs to eat foods or consume liquids that are warmer than room temperature most of the time because her body tends to be a little more cold, and she needs that heat and that transformation to help her kind of get back into a balanced place, um, which she has always found that drinking room temperature water even, but cold water as a child she always felt like that water would just [00:22:00] slosh around in her body and it wouldn't absorb.
And so it almost made her feel sick to drink water. And when she first started drinking warm water or hot water after experimenting with this, she would cry tears every time 'cause she's like, "I just feel so nourished. I just feel like for the first time in my life this is something that I can actually digest."
And of course, that really corresponds really well to her in Ayurveda. I think she has a lot of Vata energy and can run really cold, and her digestive fire can be a little bit weaker. And so having those transformed, heated up foods is something that really supports her. So it's been fascinating for us with our friends groups.
We know every single one of our friends' human design. We know every aspect of every person we know in our personal lives, and we're always observing what are the correlations with human design and other systems that feel like they have a lot of truth in them? And that's one of my favorite things about human design.
I'm a, I'm actually a very skeptical person, so I'm always looking for, like- Where's the flaw? Where's the hang up? Is there any [00:23:00] place where this doesn't resonate for me? And it's been really cool to find all of the ways that it just does. It's like truth can be seen from so many different lenses, and human design is already a synthesis of a few different lenses coming together.
Yeah. So it's been really fascinating to see the diet aspect and how that plays out in people's lives. But I will say that if someone's very conditioned, and they're not really living from a place of authenticity, their diet sometimes doesn't resonate with them at all, and only after experimenting with their strategy and authority for at least six months do some people come back around to even being open to experimenting with their diet.
Like, just to give you an example, my husband has, um, appetite diet, where he's really designed to eat one thing at a time, one food at a time. It's kind of the most primal digestion, digestion system. Think of, like, a hunter and gatherer. You would come a- across berries and just eat the berries, and then you would fish, and you would just eat the fish, and you're not kind of mixing the berries and making a berry compote over [00:24:00] the fish the way that we do in modern times.
And that was something he was so not open to. He loves diversity, and he's like, "I want all of the curries with all of the different ingredients, and I want it all blended together." And I was like, "Okay, that's, that's cool, you know. You'll come back to this when you feel like it." And about a year later, he started just naturally experimenting with h- eating one thing at a time, especially when he needed support.
So if he was feeling sick or feeling off, I would see him actually experimenting with paring things down and simplifying and eating the ingredients in his meal separately. And it was so cool to watch him just naturally become open to that without me having to push it on him because as a projector, I have to wait to be invited, even with my own husband, when it comes to giving human design advice.
Wow, wow. Mm-hmm. That's so, so interesting. Um, well, last question. I mean, we could just keep talking [00:25:00] for many days, I'm sure, about this subject. But if someone is looking to develop their team or to better harmonize with a group of people, say with family, with organizations, how would you recommend incorporating human design as a way to do that?
Would that be helpful for people? Yeah. It's immensely helpful to use human design in every aspect of your life. But one way that we find is super fun and fascinating is with a team or with a family or in partnership, because you really get to hold space for people to be themselves in that thing. And every- when one person's in alignment, it creates space for more people to be in alignment.
And then when more people are in alignment, everything else is just more successful and flowing and, um, satisfying. So- We always recommend [00:26:00] start with yourself first. Understanding your design and your strategy and authority, what that really looks like, how you're empathetic, how you're conditioning other people.
When you start there, you start experimenting with your own design, and that has a ripple effect already because you're naturally gonna be more in the right place at the right time, impacting people in the way that you're meant to. Mm-hmm. And that's going to then kind of affect those people to be more in alignment.
But then you can learn about their designs and see what, what tools and resources, you know, um, ways that you can support and hold space for them to be themselves, not telling them, you know, "Sleep on it" when they need to trust- ... their gut, for example. Um, but w- we do get this question a lot, you know, especially as business owners.
Like, I have my own business, and I'm hiring a team. Like, should I only hire generators or mangens? Yeah. Um, should I only hire my management as [00:27:00] projectors? And we really, uh, encourage people to not hire people based on their human design chart because then you're coming from a place of your mind and analyzing, you know, is this person right because of what makes sense in their chart- Mm
versus using your authority. 'Cause you might meet a generator who you're like, "Okay, they have all of the right gifts on paper. They have, you know, this generating energy to pour into my projects, and they're passionate about it," but for whatever reason, when I sleep on it with my emotional authority, I just feel like, yeah, blah, I could, but I don't feel like happy, excited to hire them.
And then you might meet a projector who has inconsistent energy, who is not gonna be working a 9:00 to 5:00 for you, um, but you feel like when you sleep on it like, yeah, I just feel happy hiring this person. I feel like it just... Everything in, in me feels like this is right, and I'm [00:28:00] smiling thinking about working with this person.
That's what's correct. That is what is in alignment. So using your authority when it comes to building out your teams and things like that is so important because otherwise it's going to, it's going to be coming from a place of trying to contrive and control versus actual alignment energetically, um, which a lot of maybe other human design guides might argue differently.
We definitely hear a lot of people come to us like, "I had a human design reading years ago, and they told me that I couldn't, you know, could never date someone with this design," or that, "I will never feel fulfilled until I meet someone who completes this thing in my chart." And, "I need to find a business partner who has this aspect."
And all of that's coming, once again, from our minds trying to- Make the math make sense- Mm-hmm ... versus coming into our place of, of body and personal alignment, personal empowerment. And [00:29:00] human design is not here to be an authority over you. Human design is here to help you be the authority of your own life, give you the languaging, the tools, the resources to understand how to be your own authority, to access your own truth, and then you experiment with it, and you tell human design, "This worked," or, "This didn't work."
Um, so using human design as a tool of empowerment to be your own boss in your own life versus human design as a system of authority telling you who you have to be, how you have to do it, and trying to control you is, is huge. So finding guides that really get that, I think is so important in this space.
Because as humans, especially with this old paradigm that we've been in, it's so natural, we're so conditioned to want to find something that works and then put it all on other people. Like, "This diet works for me. You have to all do it. This morning routine works for me. You're not gonna reach success and be a billionaire if you don't have this morning routine or [00:30:00] eat this keto diet," or whatever it is that worked for the individual.
Um, it's all about personal empowerment, becoming your own authority, and that's gonna create more alignment. So that was a really long-winded answer, but- Yeah ... I would recommend start with yourself, then learn about other people, and then use your authority when it comes to selecting who and when and what you're gonna work on.
Wow, I love that. Yeah, that's amazing guidance because it's so true that we're all so unique. And I feel like maybe then where human design would be better utilized is after you've hired your team based on your authority, just to understand how do they best function and what's their authority and what's their, you know, strategy in being able to best- Live in alignment or work in alignment with their nature.
So if you have, like, say, a projector on the team, not expecting them to keep, like, a 9:00 to 5:00 [00:31:00] schedule, but knowing that their zone of genius will come from working this many hours, you know. And, you know, with the generator having maybe more of a consistent schedule, and just kind of being able to work it out with people that way, and encouraging them to also know that about themselves and see if it resonates.
And if it resonates, how does it feel to live in alignment with that? So I feel like that- Yes ... probably the better way to, to go about it than- Yeah. Absolutely. And on our De Luna team, there's five of us, including Shana and I. And it has been so much fun to know everyone's design and to hold space for each other, to f- all follow our own authorities day to day.
Yeah. Um, even, like, for example, we host retreats, in-person retreats. In our last retreat, we had 40 of us there together. Mm. And we're always encouraging everyone, do what's real for you. So projectors, if you need to sleep in and not come to the morning class, please do that. Yeah. [00:32:00] Manifestors, if you're over this, like, let us know and you can leave.
Like, do whatever you want. Like, we're always really telling people to follow whatever their truth is. And I feel like we're taught that that will create chaos, that there won't be any order. But instead, we find the opposite is true. We find that we are designed to be harmonious in our diversity. Mm. And when we allow our diversity, it actually creates the most harmony, where we come together in this beautiful blend that just feels like it works.
And so being able to experiment with that in our own team or any that where that we go has been our favorite thing because human design is a living experiment, and we are students of human design forever. You know, we're always observing how it actually works. And so being able to see a team of people that all have different energies, that are working on different things at different times, and then to feel the harmony and sustainability that comes from that has been an absolute joy.
It's been one of the coolest things that we've gotten to do in our career is actually be [00:33:00] employers, and to have this team where we allow people to work in a way that's really aligned for them. It's been really, really cool. Wow, that's so interesting. And it's fascinating that you both ended up working together as having the same type and the same profile even.
Mm-hmm. That must be, you know, kind of unusual I would think, right? Like- Right. Yeah, 'cause- ... especially because it's a lesser common type to begin with. Right. Yeah, and there's 12 different profiles, which we haven't even gotten into in this conversation. But we cover in our book, um, the 12 different profiles are, like, these different personality archetypes, and they're a much more personality basic what people would experience you as instead of your energy.
That's, like, kind of happening on a more unconscious level in your aura type. Um, so your personality archetype, your profile, is huge, and the fact that Shane and I are both two fours is extremely significant, and I don't think we have any other two fours in our close life. Like n- neither of our partners are two fours, [00:34:00] neither of our parents or anyone in our family, none of our other friends are.
Just us two. And when we found that out, it made so much sense because there were so many moments before discovering human design where Shane and I would be w- at a group setting with a bunch of people and we would see the same thing. We would look at each other and make eye contact and be like, "Did no one else just see what we saw?"
Or, "Does no one else think in the way that we think?" And then discovering that we're both two fours, it's like, oh, it makes so much sense. And it's been amazing to be in a projector partnership because we really hold each other accountable to not overworking. We hold each other accountable to not giving unsolicited advice and waiting for the invitation in everything we do, which is still a daily practice for us for life.
But it's been really cool to have the same big energetic structures. And then beyond that, we have a lot of differences. Some things in our chart are actually polarized. Mm. So that's been really cool, too. We find ourselves a lot holding down polarities, um, as a duo. Like, even our bodies have done that, where [00:35:00] I'm bleeding when Shane is ovulating and vice versa, and it's been that way for years.
I mean, she's pregnant now and having a baby, so not right now. But- ... it's really interesting to see we have these things that are so similar, and then we have these polarizations, and it makes it really fun to work together as a duo. Wow, so fascinating. This was such an interesting episode. And where can our listeners go to find out their human design, because I'm sure everyone's gonna do that as soon as they finish listening, and then to be able to benefit more from diving deeper into this?
Yeah. So you can definitely head to our website, deLunalife.com, and we have so many different resources on there, whether that's our book, um, whether that is our podcast. We also have a training to teach you everything about human design so you can start reading charts and really know everything that you need to know to dive into this full system.
We [00:36:00] also have a membership, Your Human Design Besties, where we meet every single month, and we have so many, many courses in the library there for you to dive in and really learn about human design and start experimenting with it, because human design is meant to be lived and used. And we often see a lot of times people get a bunch of information about human design, and it's information overload, and then they don't do anything with it.
Yeah. So we're really passionate about helping you truly experiment with it. Do your energetic housekeeping, we would say. Use your strategy and authority to really lean into your design and see the impact of, of the system in your life.
