Season 2 of the School of Midlife podcast drops on May 7!

As an attorney who walked away from her dream job and left the law in her mid-40s, I know exactly what it's like to be living a great life by all outward appearances with the perfect family, the career, the nice home, the vacation home, and a passport full of stamps...and still feel like something is missing.

This is the podcast for high-achieving women in midlife who want something more out of life than what they’re currently living.

This is the podcast for women who have worked their entire lives, whether in a traditional career or as the CEO of their household, or for many women, both. And who look around at their great lives, and think “I’ve worked my ass off for this?”

This is the podcast for the woman who is experiencing all sorts of physical changes in her body, while navigating changes in every other part of her life, too: friendships, family life, work life.

This is the podcast for the midlife woman wide-awake at 2.00am, rethinking that conversation she had with someone 3 weeks ago, wondering if she said something wrong. And she's also asking herself big questions like “what do I want?” “is it too late for me?”, and “what’s my legacy beyond my family and my work?

Each week, we’re answering these questions and more at the School of Midlife.

When it comes to midlife, there are a lot of people talking about menopause and a midlife crisis. This isn’t one of those podcasts. We may occasionally talk about the menopausal transition, but that’s not our focus.

Because I firmly believe that midlife is so much more than menopause. And it’s certainly not a crisis. At the School of Midlife, we’re looking to make midlife our best life.

New episodes drop every Tuesday, and I hope that you’ll join us.

Work with Laurie

After a highly decorated 20 year career as a commercial real estate attorney, I left the law at the exact moment I was on the verge of landing the job I'd worked my entire life for: Partner in a large, super regional firm. And I quit with no backup plan. There was nowhere for me to find community or answers as a professional woman in my mid forties, wondering what to do next. Believe me, I looked. I even looked to the internet for answers. And while you can Google a lot of things, when you type in"midlife woman in transition," the only things that come up are,"am I having a midlife crisis?" And how do I control hot flashes and other symptoms related to menopause? I know because I did exactly that. And because I couldn't find what I was looking for. I created it here at the School of Midlife. I'm Laurie Reynoldson the host of the School of Midlife podcast. This is a podcast for the high achieving woman in midlife who wants to make mid-life her best life. This is a podcast for you if you've worked your whole life, whether it's in a traditional career or as a CEO of your household, or for many women, you've done both. And you look around at your life in mid-life and think to yourself,"I've worked my ass off for this?" Don't get me wrong. You'll be the first to admit that you have a great life because you do family career, nice home, maybe even a vacation home, and a passport full of stamps. You have everything you always thought you ever wanted. But for some reason, it feels like something's missing. You can't quite put your finger on it. You just expected to feel. Differently. Once you got to this point. Like you'd hit your forties and feel like you'd finally arrive. Like mid-life was supposed to be your reward for all of that hard work. That it was finally time to focus on you. Maybe you expected to cut back on work commitments and maybe even retire early, enjoy some time off doing things that you're interested in: joining a pickleball league, taking that trip to Italy, learning Spanish, investing in real estate, essentially enjoy all of the rewards of your hard work. Instead your time is split more now than ever because you're sandwiched between raising your own kids and caring for your aging parents. And because you spent so many years raising small humans, it's possible your marriage just isn't what it used to be either. This is a podcast for the woman who is experiencing all sorts of physical changes in her body while navigating changes in every other part of her life as well: friendships, family life, work life. This is a podcast for you if you find yourself awake at 2:00 AM ruminating on that conversation you had with someone three weeks ago, wondering if you'd said something wrong. And you're also wide awake asking yourself big questions, like,"what do I want?""Is it too late for me?" And"what's my legacy beyond my family and my work?" Each week we're answering these questions and more at the School of Midlife, because when it comes to midlife, There are a lot of people talking about menopause and having a midlife crisis, but this is not one of those podcasts. I mean, We might occasionally talk about the menopausal transition but that's not our focus. Because we believe that midlife is so much more than menopause. And it's certainly not a crisis. At the School of Midlife we're looking to make midlife our best life. New episodes drop every Tuesday, and I hope that you'll join us.
