Al Martin

Al Martin is the Global Vice President of Technical Sales, Client Engineering, and Customer Success at IBM, leading 10,000+ architects, engineers, and advocates driving AI and hybrid cloud adoption worldwide. With 20+ years at IBM, his career spans software development, global support, expert services, and executive leadership across data and AI.


Before IBM, Al began his career as a software engineer at Cerner Corporation and later joined Informix Software, which IBM acquired in 2001. He steadily rose through the ranks—from managing worldwide data support to directing global client services across 84+ countries to leading IBM's Data and AI Software Development organization.


Al is also the host and creator of Making Data Simple, a weekly podcast exploring how data and AI are reshaping the enterprise, featuring thought leaders and innovators in his signature straightforward, witty style.

Katherine Mayne is a Technology Executive IBM, currently serving as Director of Global Sales/Technical Sales for IBM's Data and AI Quality, Security, and Governance Software Portfolio.  She's also a Leadership Coach working with leaders and aspiring technical execs to increase their effectiveness, translating technical acumen into effective leadership. Based in Colorado Springs, she leads global partner engagements across AI, hybrid cloud, and quantum computing—helping IBM's largest partners unlock the full value of the watsonx platform and IBM's enterprise portfolio.

Katherine is the Executive Producer and occasional co-host of Making Data Simple, the popular podcast exploring how data and AI are reshaping the modern enterprise.
