I have an Absolute Black on my gravel bike 2x. Only on large ring. No shifting problem. I can't tell much difference to be honest. My original ring was worn and needed to be replaced anyway.
great interview with Ken Reinke. Your question lead to the essence of his riding and who he is. Thank you
excellent conversation with Ken reinke. His book is a great read and I didn't want it to end! Sad to hear he had to pull the plug on his latest tour. Full of unique wisdom.
I use a suntour suspension post on my gravel bike as well as a redshift pro suspension stem. I like them both. I chose the suntour post because a friend has one and likes it. I considered the redshift sus post but even the pro model is heavier than the suntour. The redshift stem replaced another stem that was based on a parallelogram. It was fine at absorbing shock but it was clunky, the redshift stem is smooth!
Hello Tom, I was just listening to your podcast with Erin Ely on her India trip. I was one of her fellow riders. She really is a rockstar!! Listening to the podcast and her voice brought me right back to India. It was a fantastic interview. Thanks so much!
Hey Tom, I’m a 60yr old and been riding ( bike trail touring ) for a few years having ridden length of New Zealand and Australia. Just been introduced to your podcast and love it. Loved Phil’s bike shop albeit a couple of years old. Sadly I see via his website he is now closed up. I’m looking at getting into bike mechanics and his ideology is exactly what I hope to follow. Speaking of guests, a legend group down here in New Zealand are the Kennett Brothers who are huge advocates for cycling and devised numerous cycling adventures including “ Tour Aotearoa ( The T A )
Hi, really enjoyed the India episode. I followed her adventure via her blog, and it was great to hear her talk about it. So courageous to take on a trip like that. I think it's one thing to do a 50 mile ride for two or three days in a row, quite another to do that many and more miles five or six days out of the week for a month. Also, there is some great riding around Eugene, and the wine country also. I've taken the train from Edmonds to New Albany, and biked up to Portland, then car home. Good touring trip. Keep up the great work!
Hi Tom! I've been listening for a year or so now, great podcast! Whenever the subject of bike fit comes up, I wonder why recumbents are not more seriously considered. It completely bypasses perfect saddle, back shoulder and hand pain, padded bike shorts...a great alternative for any non-competitive cyclist wanting long rides in comfort. And there are as many recumbent designs as there are breakfast cereals, so choose what feels best! Personally I've been riding recumbents since 1994, almost exclusively 'bents for the last 15 years. Cheers!
Hey, Tom. Love the podcast! I tried to sign up for the rails to trails ride and it asked for a password for the team huffing and puffing. Not sure if that means it's full but wanted to check. Thanks for all you do!
hey tom it's Michael Baltierra I've been listening to your podcasts and you mentioned the zwift rides haven't been doing much to help with your climbing I'm not sure if you're aware but the intensity levels in zwift are set to 50% the gradients on climbs are half of the real life climbs https://zwiftinsider.com/using-the-trainer-difficulty-setting-in-zwift/#:~:text=Trainer%20Difficulty%20is%20set%20to,ll%20feel%20the%20full%20gradient.
I put a Wolftooth oval C-Ring on my daily driver & I have a One-Up oval on my MTB. Love them both.
