Join us as I recollect my very first STR contract with 18 STR's all owned by the same person.  The Industry as a whole has changed. Now it's utter craziness and people who are constantly looking for something for free. At one point I had 67 STR along with the 50 homes a day that we cleaned normally. Listed Below are some things to consider when Doing STR's.
Having STR is an aspect of property management and can significantly impact guest satisfaction and your rental's overall success. Here are some key things you should know about cleaning short-term rentals:

  1. Cleaning Checklist: Develop a comprehensive cleaning checklist that outlines all the tasks that need to be completed between guest stays. This should include everything from changing bed linens to sanitizing high-touch surfaces.
  2. Timeliness: Guests expect a clean and ready-to-use space when they arrive. Aim to complete the cleaning process as quickly as possible after the previous guests have checked out to ensure the property is ready for the next guests on time.
  3. Supplies and Equipment: Stock up on cleaning supplies and equipment, including cleaning agents, vacuum cleaners, mops, and microfiber cloths. Make sure everything is in good working condition.
  4. Quality Cleaning Products: Invest in quality cleaning products, especially those that are effective against viruses and bacteria. Disinfect high-touch surfaces thoroughly.
  5. Laundry: Ensure that all linens, including bedding, towels, and kitchen towels, are washed and sanitized between guests. Have a backup set of linens to use while the others are being laundered.
  6. Trash Removal: Empty all trash bins in the property, including those in bedrooms, bathrooms, and common areas. Make sure there are enough trash bags available for replacements.
  7. Restocking: Check and restock essential supplies like toilet paper, paper towels, soap, shampoo, and other toiletries. Also, make sure the kitchen is stocked with basic cooking utensils and dishes.
  8. Maintenance Checks: While cleaning, inspect the property for any maintenance issues such as broken appliances, plumbing problems, or lightbulbs that need replacing. Report and address these issues promptly.
  9. Guest Amenities: Consider providing additional amenities like a welcome basket, coffee, or tea to enhance the guest experience.
  10. Communication: Keep open lines of communication with your cleaning staff. Make sure they understand the importance of thorough and timely cleaning.
  11. Check-Out and Check-In Procedures: Clearly communicate check-out and check-in times to both guests and cleaning staff to ensure a smooth transition between stays.
  12. Emergency Plan: Have a plan in place for addressing cleaning emergencies, such as spills, stains, or accidental damage.
  13. Reviews and Feedback: Pay attention to guest reviews and feedback related to cleanliness. Use this information to continually improve your cleaning processes.
  14. Local Regulations: Be aware of any local regulations or health and safety guidelines that may affect your cleaning procedures.
  15. Backup Plan: Have a backup cleaning crew or plan i
