I have been enjoying photography as a hobby off and on for more than 50 years. When I retired at the end of 2023, I decided to get a digital camera and start approaching the craft more seriously, as a form of creative expression and incentive to get outside more often. I enjoy participating in various groups related to photography and other types of creative work because they offer a nice way to share images and stories, and to get inspiration along with a strong sense of community.
My favourite style of photography is what I've seen described as intimate landscapes or close-ups, which are often quite minimal or even abstract. I also enjoy playing with techniques such as ICM and multiple exposures. More recently, I've started to explore things like focus bracketing, especially for macro photography.

Born in Kent, my path led me slowly northward to Lancashire before life truly began anew in late 2018, when I moved to France with my French wife.
My professional life exists in the corporate world, although I'm currently preparing for an early retirement. A lifelong petrolhead, my plan involves being less "out of office" and more "out on the road". Being able to fully pursue my interests of photography, blogging, and road-tripping in our campervan.
Photography and taphophilia are more than just hobbies; they are my way of documenting a life in transition. I am a student of the lens, it's a continual journey of improvement and curiosity —refining my eye as I capture the monumental 'Art of Death', the quiet, flaking beauty of my adopted home, or simply snapping moments.
