The trio of Druhfalgor, Woony, and Gnarwimble make their way from Veronica's Castle to Dog's Hole by way of the Burger Downs, along the way discussing the nature of Wyrding Dice, only to be besieged by evil shadow creatures along the way.

Traveling through the Old Grey Wood, Druhfalgor and Woony find themselves lost within the cursed Mallowmarsh, where they are reunited with Gnarwimble the Vague.

The lad hero Druhfalgor makes a detour only to discover himself at the feared ruins of Dark Hold. Among the strange things he finds there is an unlikely companion.

Journeying to the Eaves of Zanda, Druhfalgor finds a lost girl and helps her home to her village, only to discover things are not as they seem.
