Mike opens up about the heartbreaking loss of his bandmate, Shane, who tragically lost his battle with mental illness. Shane wasn’t just a fellow musician—he was a brother in arms, a best friend, and a part of something bigger.
In this deeply personal episode, we sit down with Mike Dearman, a dedicated musician and member of the Winnipeg-based metal band RAMSKULL. He shares the raw emotions he experienced upon learning of Shane’s passing, the impact it had on him and the band, and how he continues to process the grief. More importantly, we discuss the vital need for open conversations around men’s mental health, the struggles that often remain unseen, and the stigma that keeps many from seeking help.
In honor of Shane’s memory, RAMSKULL is organizing a special Memorial Fundraiser Show on October 13, 2023, at The Handsome Daughter in Winnipeg, MB, with all proceeds supporting Movember Canada and their work in men’s mental health advocacy.
