Your Therapist Needs Therapy
Your Therapist Needs Therapy 100 - The Eminently Excellent Emily Extravaganza
Jeremy is graced by some of the coolest therapists he knows, who all are returning guests, who also all happen to be named Emily. So much cool conversation, we talk about the paperwork drain of therapy, the lack of modern society to hold and respect complexity, and generational trauma within our own field of therapy. We also talk about being parents, shifting over the course of our career, and oddly foot fungus comes up, too, so it’s a wide ranging conversation.
Emily Lapolice (referred to as “LP” in this episode) is involved in a ton of great work, you can find her website at Integrative Wellness Therapies or find her on Instagram. You can check out her work at the Center for Trauma and Embodiment in Boston. She is the Director of Training at Move to Heal South Dakota, a Sioux Falls based non-profit that empowers youth in overcoming experiences of trauma through movement and culture-based healing arts, as well a Clinical Research Advisor at the Mind Body Trauma Care Lab out of the University of Minnesota Duluth, studying community-lead research and trauma-sensitive yoga applications with Indigenous and First Nations communities. Emily serves as a member of the Board of Directors for 2 Indigenous-led non-profits: Project Venture, a program of the National Indian Youth Leadership Project (NIYLP) supporting positive youth development through culturally responsive experiential education; and the Upijata Arts Center, nurturing creativity and artistic expression for the youth of the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota.
