Jenna Webb:

Hi, my friend. Welcome back to the empowered artist. If you're a little bit shy or if you overthink things. Or if you're a recovering perfectionist like me, I can raise my hand for all those categories. This episode is going to help you. When you think about talking to your audience. In any format, especially social media. So today I'm going to share six tips for artists and how it pays to be authentic and have fun on social media. Quick announcement. We still have the podcast prize cash up for grabs. Say that tongue twister twice. And you can win by leaving a five star podcast review on apple podcasts. So if you love the show, if you leave here, feeling excited with an actionable takeaway for your business. I would love to hear about it in the podcast review. So pause the show. Now write a five star review for your chance to win an Amazon gift card. When we reach 88 reviews, I will pull a winner from the last eight reviews and it could be your name. Tip number one. Show up on social media. Exactly. As you are. So you can build trust and relationships with your audience. I know you've heard me say that, but today is a new spin. Social media culture has changed. People don't want perfection. They can tell when you're trying too hard. People want the journey. They want a work in progress. Like watching a home renovation show. You don't want to just see the, after you want to see the before and the, during you want to watch the whole thing on fold. Just as much as you want to see the end result. Your customers want to see that too, when it comes to your artwork in progress, when it comes to your process in the studio and your real life, give them a little bit of everything. You are more interesting than you think, and I promise you that. Tip number two. Social media is the one marketing platform that gives you permission to show up just like you are. So give your audience what's real. Give them the messy bun. Give them the paint spills, the bloopers. Let your weird out. And the more authentic you are, let your freak flag fly, you know? Your customers want you exactly what exactly how you are and the more you let that uniqueness shine. The easier it is to attract the right people and repel the people that really aren't going to be your right customer anyway. Tip number three. Post to your audience and speak to them, speak to your ideal client. Like it's your best friend. In her, PJ's coming over to see your studio and have a coffee. Include your audience in whatever it is that you're doing. In the moment that day. So, for example, your ideal client profile is typically a mirror image of you. Or something close to it. So let's pick your ideal client avatar as your best friend she's in her pajamas. She just rang your doorbell. She's over for a visit of your studio. She wants to check out your latest artwork. So when you're planning your social media content, The captions. You're going to write what visuals you're going to show. Think about the interaction you're going to have with your bestie. Who's come over. What are you going to say to her? What will you show her? Those are your captions and those are your images. Tip number four. Don't overthink. The better you become at being your authentic self online, the more your artwork message will shine, even when you aren't trying. So what I mean by your artwork, message is, the purpose, and the reason you create your art. In the first place. So I'll say that again, the more that you are just used to kind of running on the fly and being authentic online, the more your artwork message will shine when you're not even trying. This applies to you as a human. You as an artist and your artwork too. Your artwork can be imperfect. Your artwork can be a work in progress. Just posted online. Exactly like it is. Because I know what stops you and me and some of us from posting. Daily. Or posting sometimes is our effort to try to want to always get it right. Or get it perfect. Or we're overthinking something. So let's just stop all that. Stop the voices in our head. And just post it. Just post it. Tip number five. The algorithm requires you to post daily. But watching those daily results can be very discouraging. Instead focus on quality connections. And the relationships you are building. You are here on this planet. And you're on social media for soul karma. And making your heart happy. You were not there for vanity metrics. Tips. Six. Of course you do want to grow and you have to keep your eyes on metrics. To some degree you just don't want to get bogged down in watching them day to day. So here's what you do. So instead of watching daily social media results. Such as how many likes that one post received. Focus on bigger picture results. Like your 30 day results. This will allow you to zoom out. And make smarter decisions by looking at that bigger picture. And this will help you not obsess over the smaller things, like little comments or one post skyrocketing. Or one post totally bombing. And if you're tired of thinking of what to post on social media, you don't want to worry about strategy. You want to get your butt back into the studio, doing what you love. That's where Sell art on social system comes to the rescue. It's the complete system to transform your social media sales and content planning workflow forever. Saves you eight hours a week.
