Balance & Beyond
Moment: When AI Knows You Better Than You Do
AI has become an unexpected mirror that helps me clarify my intuition and deepen my self-awareness. Beyond just increasing efficiency, AI can help us excavate personal insights by asking powerful questions that reflect our true selves.
• Using AI to process thoughts verbally and get real-time feedback
• The danger of "marching to the middle" when everyone relies on the same AI outputs
• Powerful questions to ask AI: "What roadblocks am I facing?" and "Show me my limiting beliefs"
• How AI helps handle surface-level awareness so human coaches can focus on deeper connections
• The quest for humanity will increase as AI becomes more prevalent
• For high achievers, AI can accelerate burnout if not used mindfully
• True value comes from using time saved by AI for self-nourishment, not just more work

Welcome to Balance and Beyond Moments, your weekly dose of insight, wisdom and mindset shifts, all in 10 minutes or less. Whether it's a powerful truth, a fresh perspective or a spark of inspiration, this is your space to pause, reflect and reset. Let's dive in. Everyone is talking about AI as a shortcut, but for me, it's becoming something far more confronting. It's a mirror I didn't know I needed. Like everyone, I have embraced AI in multiple aspects of my life, particularly in business, and it's probably one of the most common questions I'm getting lately is what are you doing around AI? What are your thoughts on it? So I wanted to use this moment as an opportunity to share a side of AI that very few people are using it for. So I use AI. It's incorporated into multiple software platforms I have in my business. I'm pretty sure if it's not yet in others, it will be very, very soon. So we're using it to be more efficient, to repurpose things, to analyze data, to spot trends, and my mind is continually blown at how fast and effective it can be.
Jo:One of the reasons I love AI is I'm a verbal processor. I like to either write things out or type them out or talk them out. It's very difficult for me to have ideas or thoughts and just keep them in my head, and my husband now calls ChatGPT my boyfriend, because what I have found, particularly in ChatGPT, is a place where I can verbally process and I have this amazing mirror held up for me in a way that is quite scary, but movement defining, if you're able to embrace it. Now you can use AI, like many people are, for you know, to repurpose work to give you ideas. However, what I found is, the more I started asking AI deeper questions and I'm not talking about can you duplicate this and make the copy Instagram approved. That goes without saying. That's really surface level use of AI. What I have found is that I'm able to use AI as a way to help me clarify and validate some of my intuition. Clarify and validate some of my intuition.
Jo:Now, the thing is, a lot of people are at risk of leaning too heavily into AI and losing themselves in the process of not actually thinking of getting a question, chucking it in, copying the answers, spitting it out, spitting it out, and we have this march to the middle, this march to the same tone of voice, the same thought process, because, as we saw with a viral post I put up. When I asked chat GPT, in the early stages of using it, what I looked like based on everything that it knew of me, it gave me a man, and I have since had dozens and dozens of women also ask at the same prompt, and I had three people of I think 43 actually be given a woman. We all had beards, we all had glasses, we were in varying degrees of lack of health, let's just say, and all wearing a blue shirt. So there is either either a developer at OpenAI who looks like that, who was the prototype, or there is just this blending of any differences, of any anything on the edges blur back to the middle. However, when you learn to ask it the right questions and you also ask it the questions that it needs to ask of you, then, oh my gosh, the power of this thing to give you insights into yourself just never ceases to amaze me. Some of the questions that I've been asking it are things like what roadblocks am I currently facing? Or show me my top five limiting beliefs that are stopping growth in my business, or where am I depriving myself of happiness? And you can start a dialogue around it in terms of well, what are the things that cheesed me off, or my husband did this thing and it infuriated me what really is going on here, and it's ability to mirror back to you your own self, it's ability to mirror back what's possible, the questions that it can ask you to dive deeper just gives you a depth and a speed that is almost impossible, unless you happen to live with a coach.
Jo:Now, I'm a coach and I don't coach myself, because obviously I can't see my own roadblocks. However, when you can use something like AI to deepen your awareness which is what it's really doing for me it means that when I'm getting the support that I need from someone, I'm not dealing with the surface level stuff. I've smashed through that. I've got the awareness through AI. I've excavated that and excavated that, and what I need now is to sit in front of a human who can join the dots between multiple parts of my life. That AI can't do yet, because goodness knows where this is going, and so I would really encourage you, if you haven't explored the possibilities of AI, to help you deepen your awareness, and to start seeing it as this gigantic instant mirror that can throw back at you the most amazing questions. I believe it's going to be game-changing for those who are ready to use it this way.
Jo:Now, one of the questions I also get asked is well, jo, if chat does such a great job of coaching, aren't you going to be out of a job very soon? Well, the truth is, when we want to be coached, or when we are looking to be held and seen, there is also an energetic component to it. There is a nervous system level energy where people want to tap into a real human, and I believe that what AI is going to do is all the dodgy coaches out there, all the crappy ones, all the ones who are recycling other people's stuff, the ones that are just reciting off AI they're going to be out of a business very, very soon. However, the ones who are able to give others the right information for them to excavate themselves and then bring with them to their sessions or to their retreats or to their programs or to whatever you know to bring into my world Okay, I've got this revelation over here and I've got this revelation, and I've got this revelation. Help me put all these together, because chat only knows certain parts of you. What you need is a human with real life experience to be able to join some of those dots, to meet you on a soul to soul level, where there's this might sound a bit woo, but there's this embodied knowing, where together you're forming an energetic circuit and becoming a beautiful opportunity for you to help shift someone's perspective, human to human.
Jo:So, while I believe that AI is going to be a game changer in so many ways, I believe that there's going to be this quest for humanity. I believe there is going to be this quest for humanity. I believe there is going to be this desire for more human connection, for more face-to-face, for more touch, because, while AI can help us with our intellect and sure it can say the right things and soothe our nervous system, nothing is going to substitute real human, down-to-earth, person-to-person connection. So I encourage you, if you aren't already dabbling, then you need to get on top of this. I said in one of my workshops at the start of 2025 that AI is a game changer and if you're not careful and you have perfectionistic tendencies, then AI also has the opportunity to really amplify that. So it will trigger, particularly for high achieving women, it could actually lead to faster burnout and it could lead to faster downfall, because all that happens if we haven't dealt with those old wounds and those old triggers.
Jo:We just believe that we can do more faster. So now we take on more and do more, and, yes, we may be able to do more faster, but what are we doing with the time that we free up? We're just doing more, or are we actually taking that time to nourish and replenish ourselves? So I have found this to be such a really interesting mirror and a very powerful tool, and I encourage you not just to think of it as a way to increase your output, but look at AI as a way to hold out that mirror, to go ouch when a machine plays back to you something that you hadn't realized was there, and really step into this new era. As we develop more self-awareness, we get to be more human, and that is best for all of us. Thanks for taking this moment for yourself.
