This is the 6th podcast episode for the Finding Your Zone: Mindfulness Practices for the Healthcare Workforce Series

Series Description:
Vivek Murthy, MD, Surgeon General of the United States, released an advisory, Addressing Health Worker Burnout, in 2022. He acknowledges health workers have been able to “persevere and perform” despite the many challenges in the current healthcare landscape; however, he also advises that many have been “pushed to the brink” and we are now facing a health worker burnout and mental health crisis.  He issues a challenge to “care for those who have always cared for us”.

Jama Greene and Victor Jones have developed content to give health workers information and tools to improve their well-being and to meet Dr. Murthy’s challenge.

Dr. Greene is an internal medicine physician who was inspired by the ACEs study to become a Certified Resources for Resilience Educator. She has been providing education about the impact of trauma on the mind and body as well as the importance of mindfulness and stress management ever since for Area L AHEC and Resources for Resilience. She enjoys sewing and crafts, Indian cooking, and her Vizsla puppy, Liesl.

Mr. Jones is a Licensed Clinical Addictions Specialist (LCAS), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Certified Resources for Resilience Educator, and a Neuro-Somatic Intelligence Coach. A devoted Marvel movie fan, Mr. Jones also loves the study of art, history, and nature, especially in application to social development and mental health.  His recently acquired position with HeadStart of Nash Edgecombe Wilson Community Action is proving to be a marvelous home for many of his interests.
