Women on the Brink

Choosing To Live Alone: Redefining Solitude vs Loneliness

Season 2 Episode 6

What do Jane Austen, Diane Keaton, and Greta Garbo all have in common? They are all women who chose to live alone and thrived. In today’s episode, we’re going to focus on the women who choose to live alone (for any reason), and some of the surprising and unusual benefits that come with that.  I’ll share how my journey in living alone has mirrored the stories of these incredible women and why solitude can be the ultimate empowerment tool. Does living alone mean being lonely? Not at all. Today I’ll unpack the difference between solitude and loneliness—and how living alone can actually lead to a more fulfilled and empowered life.
We will also look at the benefits to living alone from the perspective of the people pleaser, the perfectionist and the helper.  If you live alone or are considering it, know that it can be one of the most fulfilling decisions you’ll ever make. Solitude is not loneliness—it can be freedom.
