Oh good, you made it. We are so glad you're here. Welcome to the Mama Judy and Jill podcast, an intergenerational chat about life, art and the creative process. I'm your host, jill, and joining me is my wonderful co-host and bonus mom, mama Judy. Let's get started. Welcome back, and today you may see this in YouTube, but if you're not, you're listening. Mama Judy and I are together for the first time ever, recording a podcast in the same room together.

Speaker 2:

That's right.

So, here.

We are not the first time ever, just the first recording ever. First recording ever.

Speaker 1:

Yes. So I flew out to Portland, oregon. We're in Lake Oswego, oregon, to see Mama Judy and friends, and so we're here recording our episode together. So we get to do this. And we thought today we actually have a giveaway that we're going to be doing, which is super fun. Mama Judy created something and I created something and we're going to put it together as one giveaway. So we're going to tell you a little bit of details about that in a moment, but first of all, we just thought we would come on and check in with everyone and just kind of talk about what's been going on and how this experience has been for us as podcasters. Now I know.

Speaker 2:

So you believe that? No, what?

Speaker 1:

Speaker 2:

You all know the story that Jill got me into this and it was an idea that had never, ever entered my mind, but it's been so fun and it's been fun to see the reception we've got from everybody. And that's kind of where we are with our giveaway that we'll talk about later. We've had such a wonderful reception. We've gotten great comments and we're so appreciative of that and we just you can probably hear the mower in the background we are I am pet sitting here for a month, and so this has turned out to be a great time to have time with Jill and we just want to be relaxed, talk, let you see the human side of us, although I think we do a little bit of that in our podcasts also but our main thing is we want to talk to you about what we want to give away and how to sign up for it.

Speaker 1:

Yes, but first, just like Mama Judy said, we got to talk a little bit about what we're up to, so came in a couple of days ago. I've been staying a couple of nights with Mama Judy and my dad. Last night we watched Maverick, which is Top Gun, number two the movie and this is something that we've planned since we watched it together. Last time we were together, which is kind of funny because we both were having some major senior moments. We thought we were trying to figure out when's the last time we saw each other. We backed it up beyond past COVID. We thought we hadn't seen each other. We literally saw each other.

Speaker 1:

Last year we realized my husband and I went to see them out in Sedona, arizona a year ago. We saw Top Gun when it came out Maverick and loved it, and so we watched it again last night here at the house and that was super fun. So we've been eating good food, yes, having a little wine, yes, and I'm gonna turn this around a little bit. There's this is the view you can see outside the place here, and my dad and his friend are out there. So this is weird. We've been spending a lot of time sitting outside together. We haven't done any art together, which is interesting. We really haven't had time, I feel, because we've just been visiting and I've been driving around with my dad taking little drives and and yeah.

Speaker 1:

I'm surprised we haven't done any art yet.

Speaker 2:

Well, anybody who hasn't seen family or friends for a while, and you're on a limited budget of time, it's hard to get everything in, so what you do is you just sit back and take whatever you can get. Yeah, and one thing that was important to both of us was to record this recording although it doesn't have a theme Like our normal ones and tell you about the giveaway, and then, of course, our podcast will be back to their normal Format after that.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, next week. So do you want to go ahead and tell everyone about this? Yeah, so we're calling it the gratitude giveaway, just because we're grateful for you listening and in people also that we Interact with, just in on Instagram community not kind of stuff and hopefully new will this giveaway? We'll introduce our podcast to new people to in that are creatives and that sort of thing, and absolutely so mama Judy created a. Tell them about your okay.

Speaker 2:

I have one of the small journals that, by the way, we'll be doing a reel with more in-depth information on it, but this is one of my, I would say four by four journals, probably not as thick as normal, because we want to open this to everybody overseas also, and we all know that shipping costs you your firstborn child, yeah, so it's not quite as big, but it's still loaded with lots of pages.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, and if you're seeing this on YouTube, you're getting a little preview right now, but also today, when this goes live, go to our Instagram accounts. We're both gonna have a post that will give you the details on how to enter the giveaway. But you all, when mama Judy created this, she then sent it to me because when I'm in North Carolina Because we were thinking we were gonna do this before it just never happened. But when I got it, I texted her and I said I don't want to give it away, I want it. It's so amazing. What a selfish little brat. And she said we can make you another one. And so you all are going to love this. I have leafed through this thing probably 20 times while I've had it and it's just precious.

Speaker 1:

And then what I did? We wanted to have a little bit of a collaboration, so what I did is I did a slow stitched bag. It's a little drawstring bag that we're gonna put the journal in, or the collage journal that would you call it a collage journal in, and I've got some slow stitching. I have just a smidge left to do that. I'm gonna finish up in the next day or so, but we hope that you will love it. We put our hearts into it and it was fun to create it and we want to put it out there in the world, and so, whoever's the winner is the person that it was meant to come to, and we hope that you enjoy and this is just our first giveaway.

Speaker 1:

We'll probably do something again, because we're just creating all this stuff and we got to do something with it. We hope someone else can enjoy it. It also. That's right, do you?

Speaker 2:

want to just give them a Tint, as the what day will be drawing oh.

Speaker 1:

Yes, we're gonna be drawing on November 4th, which is a Saturday, so when this episode airs, you're listening to it today, but you may be listening to it whenever. But November 4th 2023 is when we choose the winner, and then we will announce the winner on Instagram and we'll tag the person and put that out on Instagram as well. So November 4th, you can be from wherever you are and we'll have the details, like we said, on both of our accounts, and so we're both gonna have a reel on our Instagram accounts and then we're gonna go and choose the winner. It's a random sort of thing that we're gonna choose, that. We're gonna draw the winner for that and, yeah, we're looking forward to getting this into someone's hands.

Speaker 2:

Yes, and just on a final note, I use the word gratitude a lot, but basically Jill and I Love doing this because it's a collaborative effort between her and I. It gives us time to share even Zoom time with each other, but the bottom line is we are continuing to do it because we get encouragement from all of you. So thank you very, very much.

We can't, we can't stop talking to each other and then we start talking about our podcast ideas and what we want to do. In my moment, dad will walk through the room and give us the look that we need to zip it and stop talking about the podcast and how fun it is and the art stuff. But yes, we're glad that we're part of your world and they're part of our world too.
