Mike Roberts:

Morning everyone, it's Mike from making digital real with another ninja Tip of the Week. And today we are talking about audio messaging on LinkedIn. If you've been a listener to this podcast, you know that I am a huge fan of doing anything that is different to what everybody else is doing. And what is everybody else doing on LinkedIn? Well, they're writing messages using standard text, black text on a white background. And pretty much all the same very salesy and getting nowhere. So today, I thought we'd have a quick look at audio messages. So like I said, Before, in this world dominated by text, an audio message is absolutely going to stand out. It's personal, it's engaging, going to use that word again, re humanization, because that's what it does, it adds a human touch to what can often feel like a sterile digital environment. Now, it's not just LinkedIn, you know, most of us are doing this on WhatsApp anyway. So in the business world, why be different? If we're using audio messages in WhatsApp on a daily basis? Why don't we do this on LinkedIn? Yes, it's known as a professional networking site, but it's evolving. It's not the style environment that it wants was. So Among its many features, obviously, is the ability now to send audio messages, which is through the mobile app. It's not available at the moment on the desktop version. But I have heard from good sources that this is coming in the near future. So pretty cool. The other thing that I would say is, you can record an audio message on WhatsApp and probably fill in 10 to 15 seconds, what you would have to do in a paragraph or two, it just makes it easy for your recipients. They can also listen to this in their own time. And just going back to that good old fashioned word again, re humanisation you're getting yourself in your prospects or your customers world. And you're not just text anymore, you're a real human being. So why does this matter? I suppose what I'm going to say here is in this digital age, the human element often gets lost. An audio message does bring this back video message. I love them as well, there's a time and a place for video messages. And I also believe there's a time and a place for audio messages. Not every message should be one of these, you know, we still do need to do text every now and again. But I do love it. It's easy to do. It makes an impact. And it's a chance to convey tone, your enthusiasm and sincerity in a way that same text simply doesn't do do. Okay, now let's talk strategy. When you send that audio message, keep it short, keep it concise. Introduce yourself mentioned something specific about maybe your recipients profile, or their work or a recent piece of content that caught your eye and end with that clear, concise call to action. It's what most of us forget to do. Where's the call to action in these messages? What do you want them to do next. And it's not just about standing out. It is about building relationships. So this is a great, fantastic tool for follow ups as well. Imagine thinking someone imagine thanking somebody for a great meeting or you met somebody at a networking event. These are all great ways to make sure that your audio message has impact. It does add a layer of appreciation and sincerity. All right, so to wrap up to let well first of all to let you know next week is our last major podcast episode of the year.
