And joining us is the amazing Joe Picard, the iconic voice behind the making digital real podcast episodes. She is renowned for her work in TV, film and voice acting. And she is, in my opinion, the best voice actor on the planet. So get ready for an episode filled with some great insights and inspiration that is absolutely going to change the way you think about the impact of voice in the digital world. Let's get straight into it. Joe, thank you so much for joining us today on the show. How are you doing? Mike,

Unknown:

it's my absolute pleasure. I'm so excited to join your brand new podcast. I know you've kicked it off last year, and it's just sounding great. I've been a big fan. So it's nice to be to be on board. Oh, well, thank

Mike Roberts:

you so much. And obviously you are the intro and outro voice of the making digital real podcast and I am honoured and thrilled that you are part of it. And I wanted to get you on today to first of all introduce you to my audience and give us some information about the power of voice for business. But before you do that, tell us a bit about you in the business and how you got to where you are because it's an amazing story.

Unknown:

Yeah, it's gonna be quite funny introduced introducing the podcast and then me on it. Yeah, well, I started life as an actress. And I worked in, down in London and in in Yorkshire very successfully. I then got an opportunity to be a presenter and I did that very, very successfully for the next sort of 1012 years, worked all over the world or worked for huge events, something you know, the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games have worked for Chris Evans. I've worked for lots of massive, massive companies. And before the pandemic, actually, I started wanting to go back into acting and, and really go back to my first love and my first passion. And so I set up my voiceover studio where I am today. And I started voice acting. And I've now gone back into full screen acting, which is really exciting. But the voice side of things for me is a huge passion. So it was really great to be asked to do your intros and outros because it's something that I am really passionate about. Absolutely.

Mike Roberts:

Can you give us some examples of where people have might have heard you over the years?

Unknown:

Yeah, well, you will have heard me most recently, over the last three years as the face and the voice of amaze UK. That's something that is on television all of the time, commercially. So that's been amazing for me. Prior to that, I've done some amazing children's stories. One launching tomorrow, actually, which is the secret bequest. And I've done so many different campaigns for McDonald's, Johnson and Johnson. So voice over wise, I've kind of crossed over a lot of sectors, from medical right through to different household brands. So I feel like I've got quite a versatility to my voice. I do a lot of gaming and animation. Yeah, it's a really exciting industry to be in.

Mike Roberts:

Yeah, absolutely. That's incredible. And I'm, I always love having guests on this episode to find out how we can help our listeners with tips and tricks and strategies. And I thought today could be a brilliant one because you might be able to give our audience some ideas about the power of voice in business and how it can really help them not only grow their business and get more clients but improve their visibility and branding by using you know people like yourself perhaps. So could you kind of expand on that for us?

Unknown:

Absolutely. Voiceovers are everywhere that you turn, you know, from a holding voice on your phone to, maybe if you're on the tube, and you're listening to you know, where you need to go. It brands, no matter how big or small, the businesses, voiceover can be hugely impactful. You know, I've heard you talk so much about LinkedIn, and social media and about how, you know, texts can get lost. And it really can. And when you connect with a voice, who is telling you a story, your business's story, you know, you connect on a level that is, it's more human, it's more, you're being transported into the world, rather than just being fed a sales pitch, if you see what I mean. So you'll see, for instance, you know, so John Lewis, the MTEL, I'm talking big brands, but that you could this is relative for every single company. So you know, John Lewis, for its Christmas campaign that's just gone. They tell stories, and they use incredible, you know, music and voice within that, or, you know, you have different campaigns on social media, which are using voiceovers to be able to connect so efficiently, because you can get so much more content over to your listeners, and you engage them so much quicker.

Mike Roberts:

That is amazing advice. And what, what are we to expect from you in 2024? What amazing things have you got in the pipeline? And what have we to expect from Joe Picard?

Unknown:

Mike 2024 is going to be huge. Honestly, it's so exciting. I kind of touched before that I've gone back into the acting world. So that is really exciting. Unfortunately, there's quite a lot of NDAs. Yes, there's not a lot that I can really talk about. But all I will say is, it's going to be huge. And I will definitely be on your screens quite a bit. So that's exciting. I may side of things, you know, we've raised a hell of amount of money, you know, 25 million pounds in the last three years since we launched. And that's all for UK charities. So that's something that is a huge passion for me. And that's something that we're carrying on brand wise. But yeah, watch this face, because TV and film, we're going to see a lot of Joe Picard. Fantastic.

Mike Roberts:

And I know that we're going to have a part two of this episode at some point later in the year or early next year, because I definitely want to have you back on. But in the meantime, if anybody wants to find out more about, you know, booking you or finding out more about what you do, how can they get in touch and where they can find information? Yeah,

Jo Pickard:

of course, I'd love to talk to anybody, even if they've got, you know, any questions or want any advice. I'm always open for having a chat with people find me on Instagram, which is Joe Picard on my website, which is Joanne Picard, so you can find me at both of those.

Mike Roberts:

That is amazing. So thank you so much for being a guest. Thank you, as always for being a part of every single episode that we put out. And I've got great feedback about my intros and outros, so just thank you so much for everything that you do.

Unknown:

No, thank you for asking me it was an honour.

Jo Pickard:
