Mission Cleaning Pre-Launch Update #2
In today's show, you'll hear the latest update as we prepare to officially open for business! Originally aired on Aug 17, 2023.
Hey everybody, mike here, and welcome to Task Force Entrepreneur. The podcast I started went from being a tech engineer to starting a house cleaning business. Yep, that's my story and I'm sticking to it. I hope you enjoy the show. Hey, what's up? Everybody Mike here, welcome to today's show.
Speaker 1:We're going to discuss Mission Cleaning Services, my cleaning company that I created to essentially reach a million dollars in annual revenue within the first, we'll say, 18 months, which, now that I say that, sounds totally insane and unreasonable. But we'll see if we can do it. We'll try. So in previous shows we talked about where we were at. In the last update, update number one, I was in the middle of creating a website and doing all the stuff you're supposed to do when you start a new company, right? Getting an EIN, employer identification number from the IRS, and setting up the bank account and the website, and getting insurance and getting screwed by insurance. That was all the mandatory kind of things you got to do as an entrepreneur. So we've gotten through that. So, as it stands right now, just to give you a quick, brief update, it's pretty crazy. I'm just about ready for our first customers. We have our website, we have our phone number, we have our scheduling system. Customers can actually go on our website and set up their own estimate, after which someone will go on site me probably to give them an actual formal quote, and I wanted to make it easier than that, but I think we're going to start with that so that way I have a good idea of how accurate our estimating is going to be, because that's pretty critical. You've got to make sure that you're not charging $10 and it costs you $20 to do the job right.
Speaker 1:In addition to that, I got a storage unit. I rented out a storage unit. We went actually this past weekend, bought a bunch of shelves, brought a bunch of cleaning supplies there, bought a table, that sort of thing. So it's not really somewhere where we can work out of, because you're not allowed to do that, but it is a storage unit where we can go pick up supplies. So that's the intent, and one of the things that's kind of cool that I learned throughout this process is storage units. Traditionally don't like you storing cleaning supplies there, right, specifically because a lot of them are toxic things like bleach, ammonia, that sort of thing. But what's really cool is I spent a lot of time reading the terms and conditions and all of that, and it turns out that the supplies we plan on keeping there things like Dawn dish soap there's no reason we can't store them. They're not volatile or flammable or anything like that. So our all natural cleaning supply approaches has already benefited us, which is kind of cool.
Speaker 1:As far as what else has been going on, I would say it's a lot of fine tuning. I've been going through the hiring process, ensuring that I have all of the necessary forms, ensuring that I have an email template for new hires, thinking about the training process a little more and, yes, I have been cleaning. Because of our all natural process and approach to cleaning right, we're not using things like bleach, for example. I had to make it a point to learn how to clean with all natural supplies. For example, one of the biggest ones by far is vinegar. So let me give you an example of what I actually did.
Speaker 1:One of the common things down here in Florida is to have really hard water. So you end up with these kind of white, kind of lime scale stains on your shower glass and it gets so bad if you leave it alone that you literally can't see through it. There are definitely toxic shower cleaners that you can use. That will knock that stuff right off. But, again, keeping with the all-natural approach, I went and tested a bunch of different kind of solutions right, all natural products and even home things such as vinegar and you know came to the conclusion which one worked best that sort of thing. So I, you know I've been working through that right, experimenting with every product we plan on using, including even things like vacuums. I've been testing out the vacuums, making sure that the ones that I purchased will do the job the way I want them to do. It. Just making sure that I really understand our Products and or maybe our equipment is probably a better way to put it right.
Speaker 1:So really, when it comes down to it, things are looking pretty good. I'm pretty optimistic. I'm also a little terrified because it's a big deal going from, you know, just building a website to all of a sudden, hey, we have, you know, we're open for business. That's. That's kind of scary. And I still haven't hired a full-time cleaner. So you know I wasn't planning on hiring a full-time cleaner from day one, but what that does mean is that I will be on the hook for those jobs unless I can get someone.
Speaker 1:So I do have someone part-time available, so hopefully you know that'll kind of work out and we'll have, you know, enough, enough people to do the work, because I can't do every job and I can't do many jobs Due to my own schedule. So, yeah, that's. That's gonna be an interesting thing to dance around and hopefully, hopefully, three months from now. I listen to this podcast and I say, man, it all worked out perfect. But as of right now, I don't know, hey, if you found this podcast helpful or you just enjoyed it, consider leaving me a review. I don't have that many reviews and with podcast reviews or everything, so if you do that, we could be best friends forever, or, you know, for a while. Have a good one.
