We know your time is valuable and I'm honored that you're spending some of it here. So get ready, because the wellness revolution starts right now because the wellness revolution starts right now.
Speaker 2:Welcome to the K6 Wellness Revolution Podcast. I'm Elena, one of the practitioners here at K6 Wellness Center in Dallas, texas, where we blend trusted expertise, compassionate care and a passion for helping you achieve optimal health, because wellness isn't just a goal, it's a revolution. In this episode, I get to ask Sharon our owner, naturopath and FNP at K6, all about the newest services she'll be offering here, including the Vampire Breast Lift, vampire Facial O-Shot, p-shot and Vampire Hair Restoration. We'll discuss how these treatments work, who can benefit from them, expected recovery times and other essential details to provide our clients and audience with a clear understanding of how these procedures support both aestheticals and overall well-being. So let's jump in. Hello Sharon, hello Alayna, so let's start with where did you learn about these different procedures and what made you want to incorporate them into the practice?
Speaker 1:Okay, well, I learned I mean PRP I always knew from more of an orthopedic application, but the vampire treatment, specifically the O-Shot, was the first one that I heard of, because I am so not cool and never saw that Kim Kardashian was the one who got the vampire facial and made it famous. I'm behind the times, but I learned about the O shot really through my clients, because I probably had almost a dozen women over the last year kind of comment on yeah, I got the O-shot and it really helped with incontinence, or I got the O-shot and now sex doesn't hurt anymore. And so I was like, okay, I've got to find out more about the O-shot. And so I looked it up and went PRP. Huh, okay, this is interesting. So, um, I went through uh, dr Charles Reynolds organization he's the one who trademarked vampire and that's where I learned to use PRP for therapeutic benefits to reproductive health.
Speaker 1:Also some aesthetics, but you know, when we we feel better, when we look better, right, right, and of course, for me, I'm interested in anything natural that's going to offer therapeutic benefits to you know, whatever health conditions, um, but I'm also all about natural alternatives in aesthetics, like how can I look younger longer without having to inject synthetic fillers and toxins into my body. I don't want to have surgeries and operations when I can avoid it, and I am definitely open to using my own platelet-rich plasma which doesn't get more natural than your own blood right To help provide some amazing anti-aging results in my skin.
Speaker 2:So there you go, yeah. So why don't we explain PRP therapy first? Because I know it's a. It's a common buzzword. A lot of people may know what it is, but a lot of people may not. So what is it and how does the body utilize it for its natural healing processes?
Speaker 1:Okay. So I think you're right because you hear PRP. But do you know what it is Right? And? And so in your blood, if we, if we, if I took a vial of your blood and I put it in the centrifuge and spin it at the top, you're going to see plasma and it's kind of the yellowy orange, clear ish stuff, and then there's a little bit of more orange and that's your platelets, and then below it is all your red blood cells. They're the heaviest parts. So what we're doing is we're using the plasma around the platelets, because the platelets are what has all of the growth factors and the parts that help promote healing and tissue repair, and it's used for a lot of musculoskeletal injuries, especially in joints, and it even is used in aesthetic procedures like hair restoration and skin rejuvenation and then for sexual and reproductive health as well. But yeah, it's basically just using the body's own blood to promote healing and tissue repair.
Speaker 2:It's truly amazing what your body has in it, if we just know how to use it. So how exactly, you know, do we get the PRP and how? How does how does it work?
Speaker 1:So you know somebody comes in for whatever procedure and whether you're here or somewhere else getting it put in a joint, you're going to do have a blood draw, just like when you go to the lab to have a regular blood draw.
Speaker 1:But with PRP you're not using the same files, you're not using the same centrifuge. It's all much more powerful because we want as many platelets as possible. Right, we want to do a lot more to separate the blood. So it's a simple blood draw. It's really the processing of the blood that's done differently and typically, you know, here we're going to draw at least 20 milliliters of blood, maybe 40, depending on the area that we're working on, and then we put it in a centrifuge and that spins the blood at a really high speed and that separates all those components of the blood, like we talked about. And then we use that, we withdraw it into you know, a syringe or whatever we're doing, and we apply it to the body in whatever treatment form, whether it's being injected in the reproductive organs or in the scalp for hair restoration, or brushed over the face with microneedling or in the breast area.
Speaker 2:Yeah, it's really pretty simple and also for listeners who might be wondering and don't know how long does this process of platelet separation take? I mean, is this multiple appointments? Let's talk about that.
Speaker 1:Yeah, so the actual processing of the blood four minutes. I mean you spend it for four minutes. If you had gravy last night for supper, maybe eight, Um, but yeah, it's. It's a one office visit. Most of our appointments, for whatever procedure we're doing, it's an hour, two hours tops, and some of the longer appointments you're actually spending more time enjoying the numbing process because anytime we're going to inject somebody with something.
Speaker 1:We don't want to hurt people, we don't like to cause pain, so we like to make things as painless as possible. But once you inject platelet rich plasma into the body, it releases growth factors and it releases cytokines, and all of these are the substances that are going to help promote tissue healing, and some of it you're not going to tell right away, right? So this is the other time element. It could take a couple of days, it could take a couple of weeks, it could take up to 12 weeks really to get the full effect in some areas of the body. Um, but for healing and tissue repair, yeah, once you inject it, like it gets going in the body, and so that's. That's kind of cool. It the growth factors, though they'll also encourage the formation of, like new blood vessels, and that will enhance blood flow to the affected area. So, especially like men with erectile dysfunction, you know it can help with a stronger erection.
Speaker 1:With the face and this is the one I will tell our listeners, because I am a listener, not a viewer of podcasts, but this is one, if you're curious, my face is now just 24 hours out from a vampire facials. You want to know when we start talking recovery process. This is what 24 hours.
Speaker 1:Good example, right, right, yes, but collagen production is really one of the big actions that we get here, because PRP promotes collagen synthesis and you have to have that to have tissue strength right. Collagen is what makes us plump and that's really helpful, even orthopedically, like if we're repairing tendons and ligaments, not just skin, and then reduced inflammation, of course, because you get there. We have different kinds of cytokines, which are immune cells, and they can help to reduce inflammation. But it could also play a part in chronic injuries and degenerative conditions like arthritis. So bringing the immune system's attention to an area to do something to repair it, that's a big, big deal. So it can take, yeah, several weeks to a few months for the full benefits to be realized, but the lasting effects can go on and on and on, and on. Right, it's not always well. You got to do this every three months for the rest of your life or you lose it all, yeah.
Speaker 2:So if we consider simply the aesthetic side of things, there are so many options available for people wanting more hair, fewer wrinkles, facelift, plumper cheeks, no jowls, and we could go on and on right. K6 has always, you know, really concentrated on healthy diet, healthy lifestyle, et cetera. But now you know you're actually we're getting to offer these aesthetic services that center on PRP. So tell our listeners what makes PRP different from conventional aesthetic treatments that rely on synthetic fillers or surgical interventions.
Speaker 1:That's a really good question. I love PRP because, first of all, you're using your body's own material. So I could give you aloe vera. It's very, very natural. Um, it's not going to do the same thing Like I could give it to you for a burn or something right, it's very natural, it's straight out of the earth, but your blood is straight out of your body. So if we're regenerating stuff, if we're we're doing regenerative medicine, if we're doing anything, um, to help with healing or promote anti-aging, it doesn't get more natural than your blood. So that is a really cool aspect of it. Also, anything you do with PRP, it's minimally invasive, so it's non-surgical. You don't have to go under sedation, general anesthesia. Like I said, I got my vampire facialist my second one, I think just 24 hours ago, and over the next several weeks, without extensive damage to my skin tissues, my skin's going to continue to look brighter fewer lines and wrinkles, less melasma, you know all of those things.
Speaker 2:So it was noticeable. When I saw you this morning, it was very noticeable for any of our listeners who aren't viewing it was. It's really impressive.
Speaker 1:It's quite remarkable and everybody's experience is just a little bit different, because some people don't actually heal as fast as others and, and you know, or some people have more inflammation and, for instance, like one lady that I did her facial yesterday, her skin was very thin and, um, she is probably going to take a little bit longer to recover than me, even though we're roughly the same age. But it's just, everybody's at a different place and the beautiful thing about doing PRP is it's your body. So you talk about meeting you where you're at. It's your body meeting you where you're at. So, yeah, not being invasive, though I really like that part.
Speaker 1:And then you know, in the just the aesthetic benefits, we're not doing hair like hair restoration. You're using PRP, we are injecting it in the scalp, um, but we're not doing hair plugs, so it's not like a real painful experience. And breast lifts we can do a more subtle approach to breast enhancement for women, whether it's purely cosmetic or maybe they're post-explant surgery. There's just you can do it in an office visit. It's non-surgical, it is just a kinder, gentler way of approaching some of the things that people are concerned about and would like to improve and maybe they're not really willing to take, like, the big leap into full-on cosmetic surgery.
Speaker 2:Yeah Well, and you brought up breast lift, so let's start with that one. We are obviously never a fan K6, of traditional breast lifts, and we have a lot of clients who've had them, but our objections are due to the many chronic health risks associated with them. But this one is different. What exactly is the vampire breast lift and what makes it different from traditional surgical breast lifts?
Speaker 1:So a surgical breast lift is where they're basically taking the breast tissue and cutting it and then they're lifting it like putting on a push-up bra kind of right. Now some women may do implants, which is actually inserting a silicone bag whether it's filled with a silicone gel or saline or something like that to also make their breasts bigger or more voluminous, right. But the vampire breast lift, we're actually injecting platelet-rich plasma into mainly the cleavage area. So for women, you know, who maybe they don't like the way their breasts look now, because they don't look like they did 10 years ago or before they breastfed their children, this is just a more subtle natural enhancement of breast tissue and it gives, it does give more volume and it does give lift. In fact they say, you know, it can provide up to like one full cup size, um, an increase. And it's really designed to fill out for women who feel like they don't fill out their blouse as well. It's going to be more in that cleavage, that upper breast area, that you get the, the wow factor, that you get the wow factor. Really, smaller-breasted women tend to get bigger results simply because there's less there to begin with.
Speaker 1:Right and surgical lifts, they do carry a higher risk of complications. I mean, you're cutting into the body so the risk of infection is a little higher, and I'm not saying this happens and I'm not trying to scare people off anything, but these are differences. But you do have, you know, risk of infection and scarring and there's breast tissue damage that can happen, while you know the vampire breast lift has a much lower risk profile and the complications that could happen there, the potentials are pain and swelling and bruising. You know there's much less risk for infection and scarring because these are just simple injections. We're not cutting anything. Also, vampire breast lifts are generally less expensive than a surgical breast lift or an implant.
Speaker 1:And the results for some people and I think this is where it gets into body types, like for some women, if they, it depends on how big you are, um, it depends on what your goal is, um you, your results could, could last, you know, like 12 to 18 months and and maybe a couple of years, and they say that really, if your, if your weight stays steady, you know those, those effects are longer, long, much longer lasting, um, but a lot of women do have weight changes, you know, through the seasons of life, and then also some women are like yeah, that was good, let's do it again, and especially women who have implants. You know women, uh, ladies and listeners out there, if you've had implants and then you have that breast gap, you know, women feel very conscious, self-conscious about that and they want to fill in that gap, they want that cleavage, and so that's what this does. So that's that's. The big differences is one is very minimally invasive and the other one's purely surgical.
Speaker 2:And can anyone get this? Or rather, you know who would benefit most I guess you said small breasted women or women who've had the implants and have the gap. But you know, can anyone get it? That's really the question I know a lot of people ask me. Everyone wants to know. Yeah.
Speaker 1:I you know ideal candidates is going to be a woman who has like mild to moderate sagging. Now, if you're, I'll be crude here for a minute. If your breasts are, you know, hanging out with your belly button, I don't know that this is going to do the trick for you, but it does give your breasts a perkier look without the need for surgery. Post-pregnancy changes. You know, pregnancy takes a toll on breast tissue. Everything gets swollen and then it shrinks again, and so the vampire breast lift is really nice. To just improve skin quality and then just restore some of that lost volume up top. It's kind of nice.
Speaker 1:And then, ideally, you know women who want a more natural, a more non-surgical approach. This is a better option for them. And you know, obviously and this isn't to say people everybody has unrealistic expectations. But women who come in and go, you know, I just wish I had just a little bit more Women with realistic expectations, both of what their body's capable of, what's going to look good, that's kind of a big deal. It's not going to give the same level of lift or volume that a surgical breast lift is. But not everybody requires that. Now, if you have enormous breasts that create shoulder pain and back pain and, like I said, they're hanging down at your hip bones, then you really may need reduction and, you know, a breast lift and that may be a purely surgical experience for you. But the vampire breast lift for many, many women is a great option and it's a great intro. A lot of women don't know do I want a breast lift, do I not? Yeah, I think that's that's yeah, that's it Okay.
Speaker 2:And is there much recovery process for this procedure?
Speaker 1:No, not really. I mean, there's really not any downtime for this. Most patients go straight back to work. We go back to their normal activities, exercise right after the procedure, because you're in the office maybe an hour Some. You know some women may experience some swelling and bruising Okay, but it usually resolves within just a few days and you could be a little sore and tender where the injection sites are and that typically also resolves just within a day or two. But you know, potential side effects could be the bruising, the swelling, some tenderness and just right around the injection sites. It's not everywhere and we're not injecting all over the breast. Like I said, mainly it's that upper cleavage area.
Speaker 2:And it's only a few injections, right, yeah?
Speaker 1:Typically four injections on each breast, but it's a pretty good little volume of of um PRP that's put in and there it's. It's pretty rare that I've never heard of an infection with the breast, with the vampire breast lift. So, but I mean anytime you pierce the skin, I think you risk infection.
Speaker 2:Right, that's where cleanliness comes in.
Speaker 1:Yes, absolutely. That's why we're clean, yes and wow. So we would say, wow, rare, right. There's a small possibility of infection, just like there is with any procedure. There's a small possibility of infection, just like there is with any procedure. And then you might bleed just a little bit, like you would with any shot or injection. And I have not seen any allergic reactions to PRP, especially since this is self-sourced, like we're not taking my PRP and putting it in somebody else. But if you know you, you could have an allergic reaction to some part of it, whether the anesthetic, the topical anesthetic, or the needle or PRP, you know which would be really strange.
Speaker 2:So the vampire breast lift and vampire facial. They sound similar because of their names, but the application is actually kind of different, isn't it?
Speaker 1:Yes, it is.
Speaker 2:What is the vampire facial and how is that applied?
Speaker 1:Yeah, and I think this is a good point to point out. So vampire is a trademarked um procedure, a name by Dr Charles Runnels, and you may find people doing PRP facials, prp breast lifts, things like that, but they're not. Uh, he's really the pioneer of this and so anything that he has uh condoned or or licensed, then it's called vampire, or licensed, then it's called vampire. So how very male, right. But the vampire facial, it's different. Yes, then the breast lift, because the breast lift is injections into the breast tissue, whereas the facial we're using a microneedling pin and a microneedling pin.
Speaker 1:Some people know what it is. They may have had this done. It's, it's a, it's a pin and it has a little head on it. We use disposable heads that have multiple needles that will pierce the skin anywhere from 0.5 to 2.5 millimeters in depth, which doesn't sound likea lot, until it's rolling over your face and it can be painful. But what we do is we numb you up. Real good, just like you would go get numbed, you know, if you're going to do a tattoo or anything but um vampire facials, taking those two things microneedling to create small tunnels or um injuries to the skin and then you brush over or, you know, rub over the PRP, so it's not injected into the skin, it's applied topically into all those little micro tunnels and that's how the growth factors come about. So it's really nice because we're not using chemicals or toxins, right?
Speaker 2:Right, right. And how does this procedure, you know, support the body's natural healing mechanism to improve skin health?
Speaker 1:Well, the idea behind the mechanism of action of microneedling is twofold right.
Speaker 1:First, you've got hundreds of thousands I think they even say a million needle punctures by the end of your facial At that teeny tiny depth. I know it sounds terrible, it's like I just had this done yesterday, but it didn't feel like a million injections. But all of this triggers collagen production. So like a mechanical fractional laser, but without the risks of scarring and there's no burns that come with this. It's just very microneedling can be done very safely with really all skin types and and that is a difference too Like when you're doing lasers and things, you have to be careful with it, how sensitive your skin is and the skin type. But okay. Secondly, so you got the microneedling right and then PRP right. That's again using your own blood, using your own platelets to use those growth factors and put them all over the skin to stimulate tissue repair and that helps promote collagen synthesis. So, like my fine lines, you know, around my nasolabial folds, my crow's feet, my sun damage, it all just kind of magically gets whitewashed.
Speaker 2:Yeah, I mean it covers an array of skin concerns in this procedure. Like you just mentioned, it also helps with acne scars right and dark circles under the eyes. I mean, what are some of the other concerns that people would benefit from?
Speaker 1:Well, yeah, agne, scars are a big one, especially people who have those pitted scars. We can really get in there and smooth that out. Now. It's important to know there's not going to be a one and done. If you have really bad scars, you're going to need to do this, maybe every four to six weeks for four to six months, you know something like that.
Speaker 2:But that's encouraging for the people who have that. You know there is hope it can get better.
Speaker 1:Yeah, I agree, and sun damage especially. It's so good to reverse the effects of sun damage, including like hyperpigmentation, sunspots and melasma, which for me, my melasma is more on my neck and so I'm very excited about getting. I had Mary go to town on me yesterday. I was like make it really, really red. But that helps to reduce the appearance of those hyperpigmentation areas by promoting cellular turnover, right. So that's going to address the uneven skin tone. And then even dark circles under the eyes you can go with a microneedling pen like right up under the eyes and it can improve circulation in that area. So again, if you have dark circles, it's going to help reduce the appearance of that.
Speaker 1:And then I think, just having more youthful and plumper skin, because you know, as we age, like you start to get jowls and things get crepier. In fact I was looking at my hands the other day. I was like I need to do that Then microneedling and PRP on my hands Cause they're starting to get a little crepey, hard on them. But yeah, that I mean just just increasing collagen production I think is so essential for the elasticity of your skin and just the firmness too and the thickness. So for people with friable or thin skin, you're going to get a better result doing this.
Speaker 2:That's amazing, and this doesn't have much downtime, right? I mean, as we've already told everyone, you had this yesterday, so it's a pretty quick in and out type of thing.
Speaker 1:It absolutely is. Yeah, I had one not even, I think 23 hours ago, and my skin's not suffering at all, so your recovery is typically pretty quick. You don't want to go out after you have it done. I generally recommend you know you want to go home, because we brush all this PRP on your face. You don't go home and wash it off. That's, that's expensive stuff. You leave that on, you sleep with that on and you don't wash your face till in the morning. You want to avoid activities really for 24 to 48 hours, like intense heat or, you know, sweating, that kind of thing. I usually tell people skip your workout in the morning if that's your thing. You don't want to touch your face a whole lot but you do want to hydrate. You don't want to take ibuprofen or Tylenol or any of those things because we want the inflammatory response right and that goes for all of these procedures, right?
Speaker 1:Thank you for pointing that out. Absolutely, it is important to allow the redness and the swelling. That's the goal, right, yeah.
Speaker 1:Because, you know, yeah, you want some redness swelling and it goes down, like for me, this is, you know, one day after and by this weekend, I'll wear a hat if I go outside, but I'll protect myself from the sun in that way, but you won't even be able to tell today. I'll protect myself from the sun in that way, but you won't even be able to tell today. You know, by three days later you won't even know. So it's really nice, yeah.
Speaker 2:Nope, it's so fun. And that's the face. Right, folks, we can help the face. Now let's hear how we can help the hair. How does vampire hair restoration work to promote hair growth?
Speaker 1:Because this sounds too good to be true, it's not the same as getting a hair. The hair plugs, you know, hair transplants, but it's those growth factors again in the PRP and it can reverse the process of hair. It's called miniaturization. Now you have to have a hair follicle. This won't work if you don't have hair follicle. So um, um. But if your hair follicles are getting weaker, they're getting smaller and with men especially, going through like male pattern baldness, you would notice it like the hair feels thinner. Where maybe they have thick hair on the sides, that the hair shaft itself is kind of thin on top. The, the PRP helps to revitalize those hair follicles and that's kind of cool.
Speaker 2:So yeah, and what are some of the root causes of hair loss that this procedure helps to address?
Speaker 1:Well, you can get hair loss from a lot of different things, right? I mean, heredity is one of those things, but hormone changes through your life and this is men and women things. But hormone changes through your life and this is men and women um medications, stress, whether chronic or acute, um hair treatments like women who color their over, process their hair men do it too. Um autoimmune disorders, um nutritional deficiencies Uh yeah, there's a lot of things um that can play a part in in hair loss.
Speaker 1:And PRP says, okay, well, you've got a few hair follicles, so let's work with that. And then it starts to improve the quality of that and it definitely like thickens the hair shaft, so it stimulates those hair follicles to kind of enter the growth phase and then it improves the blood supply, which is also a part of hair loss is poor blood supply. So getting more nutrients and oxygen to the hair follicles is important. And then cell regenerations. Those growth factors in the PRP will help to promote the repair, the rejuvenation of those hair follicles, the damaged ones. If they're dead they won't come back right or PRP cannot make them come back.
Speaker 2:So this is really more for when it's thinning. Do it before it's gone, pay attention to it before it's gone, so we can turn that ship around.
Speaker 1:If your head is a cue ball, I don't know that it's going to help. I mean, you're always welcome to try, yeah.
Speaker 2:Yeah, and how does PRP therapy compare to other hair restoration techniques, such as scalp massage or red light therapy, which do have their benefits, but they're different?
Speaker 1:Right. Well, in PRP again, we've got those growth factors, we've got all of those platelets and so it's going to really stimulate under the skin and we do numb the scalp right, but it is injection. We're kind of nice, but it's going to encourage more hair growth at the hair follicle and it's going to thicken the shaft, so it is a natural approach. Then there's scalp massage and everybody should do it If you feel like your hair is thinning. It's very non-invasive, it's a good head massage and it may not directly stimulate hair growth but it will help improve the health of the scalp. It helps with circulation.
Speaker 1:And then there's like red light therapy and red light. I love red light therapy. I think it's good for so many things related to skin and wound healing and hair quality. But using um red light therapy you're basically using low level laser lights to stimulate cellular, cellular activity in the hair follicles, and so that will also help improve circulation or blood flow and it can improve the health of the follicle as well. But you know everybody's different and the best treatment for you is kind of kind of depend on what you need and the severity of your hair loss. I mean, if you're bald as a cue ball.
Speaker 2:You may be headed to Turkey for hair plugs, you know I don't know Well, and I know time and money can be a huge deciding factor for people when deciding hey, which remedy should I try? But I also know the other options, like the red light therapy and scalp massage. They can take a lot longer than PRP. When a person gets this PRP hair restoration treatment, what's the typical recovery process for this and how soon do you start seeing the hair growth?
Speaker 1:So the recovery is kind of, again, different for everybody. It's really minimal. I mean you can leave here and go do whatever you want to do. Your scalp's going to be a little tender because you know you could get, you know, like I did a full scalp the other day and I did so. I did the front and then I did the back or the crown of the head and I think there were over 100 injections easily, because it's about every centimeter that we're injecting, and so your scalp may be a little bit tender but, um, it's, it's not a big deal. You can go do whatever you need to do the next day or that evening or whatever.
Speaker 1:Healing can take up to two weeks, um, if somebody's got a real sensitive scalp and that just means bruising or swelling or just, you know, scalp tenderness. But yeah, you can go back to your normal activities 24 hours. But again, just like the face, don't go home and wash off that PRP. Just let it. Let it lie, you know, till the next day, try to wait 24 hours.
Speaker 1:And one thing about it, though shedding. It can be normal to just experience a little bit of shedding and that's sometimes part of the natural healing process and it's not necessarily like a big cause for concern, but initial changes. Like are you going to see your hair next week and go, oh my gosh, I can see a difference? Not necessarily, but I have had some men say within the first month I can actually see my hair thickening up a little bit not necessarily new growth, but within three to six months that's really when most people are going to see the more significant results and like new hair growth at that point and you know the thickening of the hair shaft, increased hair volume, and then six to 12 months.
Speaker 1:You really you know, some people may need just four monthly treatments and then good, I'll see you in a year for maintenance. But some men need more. Some men may need six months, but it could still take up to 12 weeks after you get those injections for it to fully take hold. So, um, we usually tell people four to six monthly treatments and then every year you want to do one or two maintenance uh sessions, but you're going to see really good results. That's when you're going to see really good results.
Speaker 2:Okay, well, seems like a pretty easy procedure to maybe get a little more hair growth. Now, though, let's talk about the O-Shot, because I feel like this is one that a lot of women don't realize even exists and that a lot of women need. What is the O-Shot, and how does it aim to enhance female sexual wellness?
Speaker 1:Okay, the O-Shot gets really misunderstood, I think, and then some women know exactly what it's about. But the O-Shot, it's non-surgical and it's all for enhancing female sexual wellness by injecting the PRP which we've fully covered into some, into the clitoris and the vaginal area, and that is to address issues like low sex drive or low libido, women who have difficulty achieving orgasm, or maybe they experience a lot of vaginal dryness and so sex isn't very comfortable, women who have pain during intercourse. This can really help. But even better than that and I think this is almost it's equal, if not more the driving factor for some women is the reduction in stress and urge stress, urge and continence. So yeah, it's, it's, it's a, it's a multi-purpose tool.
Speaker 2:Yeah, it really is, and I mean, it sounds like it can promote a lot of aspects of pelvic floor health and overall hormone balance, can't it?
Speaker 1:It can. It provides like improved muscle strength because it can stimulate again tissue regeneration and collagen production. That can help strengthen your whole pelvic floor muscles and that can improve your bladder control and it can help reduce the incontinence that many women go through after childbirth. But with age, the PRP can also rejuvenate and thicken the vaginal walls, which is going to improve elasticity and natural lubrication. So as you go through perimenopause or menopause and vaginal dryness becomes an issue, this can really help de-age, if you will.
Speaker 1:The vagina, yeah, can help a lot, um, particularly, you know, women in menopause. Um, but concerning overall hormones, like if it's a young person or something you know, the jury's out it's we're not injecting hormones, so we're not. We're not specifically trying to steer hormones in a certain way, we're really more about the tissue itself and helping. So some some women feel like that O-shot just puts them over the edge, like, yeah, estrogen therapy helped a little bit and then I got the O shot and now it's like sex is great again, you know. So that's kind of cool.
Speaker 1:And then, um, yeah, stress and urinary incontinence, that that involuntary when you cough, when you sneeze, when you jump, when you laugh too hard, uh, the, the PRP therapy can really help in that too. But some women, even who have the chronic pelvic pain, it can alleviate some of the pain from different causes like childbirth trauma. Some women have even reported, you know, that they have like surgical mesh and that the OSHA helps. Whether it's because of the plumping up of the vaginal wall, I don't know, but there is that part of it too, and yeah, so what should clients expect during and after this procedure in terms of recovery and results?
Speaker 2:And I know I've asked that for each one, but they're all a little different. Similar but different.
Speaker 1:They are. The unique thing about the O-Shot is the injections themselves take like less than two minutes. You spend most of the appointment getting numb.
Speaker 2:Also very important.
Speaker 1:Very important. That is right. It is minimally invasive and we basically use a little bit of lidocaine as a local anesthesia because we want it to be a very comfortable experience for women. So some women, you know, afterwards they may have a little tenderness at the injection site, but overall it's very well tolerated. Most women say, oh, that was it, it's like this big non-event and it's like, okay, I did my job very well. But after, after the procedure, after your o-shot, usually you can go like straight back to it.
Speaker 1:Most women, um, had one woman that she came in she worked on her computer, she was on her laptop the entire time, like had no idea I had injected her, and she's like, oh, that was the easiest thing I've done all week. She left. So yeah, it's very easy. Just, you get dressed, go back to work. There's no downtime. You may spot or bleed a little bit because again, we've injected, you know, very vascular tissue. A little bruising and irritation may be noted, you know, but again a couple of days and that's that's going to be about it. Um it. We do recommend that women do some pelvic floor exercises afterwards just to enhance the treatment, because of course the stronger your pelvic floor is, the better your overall pelvic health is going to be. Yeah, so. But women, you know, should you know, our goal is for you to experience improved sexual function, um, including increased sensitivity, arousal and orgasm. So for some women it's a game changer in their intimacy level with their partner.
Speaker 2:So, it's important, it's really important. And now that we've talked about how to support the lady's pelvic health, what about men? Because I know there's also the P-Shot for men and it's got some similar but different intended benefits. So can you talk about this one?
Speaker 1:Right. So the P-Shot for priapus shot. It's non-surgical as well and it is for male sexual health, specifically, or more accurately, for erectile dysfunction. And again, we're using PRP injections into the penis and the whole goal of this is to improve erectile function, you know, to increase sensitivity. Um, this is not something you know. Men generally ask I'm going to pick on men. Can I be sexist for a second?
Speaker 2:I mean, they make it easy.
Speaker 1:Will it get bigger? And it's like, well, it might, might not, you know it's. It's not about a size thing, it is really about function. So, because the goal, the benefit that we're after is to have for men who struggle getting a good, strong erection, is for them to have a stronger, firmer erection, so through improved blood flow and tissue regeneration, right, um, but also for for them to have increased sensitivity, then they're going to feel more pleasure during sexual activity and just you know, underlying issues like decreased blood flow. Now, if you have, like diabetes and you're not taking care of your diabetes, it will cause vascular issues and you will end up with erectile dysfunction, among other things. But if there, if there are other age related or, um, external factors, or even stress related factors, this could help, you know, just strengthen the erection for for many men. So yeah, and if you grow a little bit, then great, but I'm not promising that Right, that's not the goal here.
Speaker 1:No it's not an important thing to know, like this isn't a permanent solution, right? No, it can offer very significant improvements and it can last for a long time. It's different for every every man. Some men are like yeah, I like to do this every six months. And then some men are like I had one two years ago, it's great. So I think you know there are a lot of things that play into that, and age is going to be one of those things, and then other, you know, other health conditions are going to really be influencing factors.
Speaker 2:So yeah, who's a good candidate for this procedure? I mean, you've kind of mentioned it, but who would specifically be?
Speaker 1:So men with erectile dysfunction or ED, you know a lot of them.
Speaker 1:That's the big one, yeah, that's the big one. And so some, also men, who are just experiencing a decline in sex drive or overall performance. You know, whether it's it's a completion thing or being able to, yeah, just enjoy the whole experience. You know, having a firmer erection, having more sensitivity, that can help. On the physical side of things, it can. You know, men with I didn't mention this earlier Peyronie's disease, which is a condition and it causes a curve in the penis and it can be quite painful for men, and so this can help. And I think this is also a good time to uh, I didn't, I don't think about this, but you know, when you do this, for for men to uh, I didn't, I don't think about this, but you know, when you do this, for for men, it's a little different than women. Women get your O shot and go, you're done. You know, enjoy your sex or enjoy not leaking.
Speaker 1:Um, men with the P shot because, um, of the nature of the differences in our anatomy, they have to use a pump, you know, twice a day for several weeks to pump the penis just to really help get the full effect of the PRP, because, remember, it takes the PRP several weeks to really fully get going. So that's something, you know, that should be considered. But prescription medications okay, some that should be considered. But, um, prescription medications Okay, Some of those can cause unintended side effects, like you know um, I'm sorry, impotence and P-shot can help with that. Whether it's blood pressure medications or antidepressants or things like that. There are a lot of medications that can have unintended consequences.
Speaker 1:But men in relatively good health are generally going to do better with the P-shot. They're going to get a better result. But it's really important for men to understand that the results can vary a whole lot from one person to another. And before you talk yourself into or out of a pee shot, it's just really important to have a good, open, honest conversation with a qualified healthcare provider. Right, and make sure that you're comfortable doing it, that you're willing to put in the follow-up work so that your investment in your sexual health is going to pay off, and also just have realistic expectations. You know it can offer improvements, but if your erectile dysfunction is 95% driven by emotional stress or lifestyle stress and you don't do anything to fix that, this isn't necessarily going to be. You know what you think it is. It may help but it may not fix everything and you know, like any medical procedure, there's going to be risks like bruising and swelling and infection, because we're piercing the skin.
Speaker 2:But, there you go, and so you talked about the recovery a little bit for this, because this does include a little bit more than the other procedures, but it still doesn't take more than you know a few days for the initial bruising swelling to go down Right, and then a couple of weeks.
Speaker 1:Yeah, you know, and again, different for everybody. Like a young, healthy guy may say, oh, in three days, man, I was rocking and rolling, everything was great. Whereas, you know, an older man in poor condition may go well, it took a month but things got better. But, yeah, full benefit. It's going to be different for everybody because it does depend on age, it does depend on external factors.
Speaker 1:What are the underlying causes of the erectile dysfunction? Whether it's trauma or medication or hormones or some mixture of all of those. But the P shot, I mean, you know, it could last 12 to 18 months or longer, for for men who get it and some men who get it, they love it and they're not ever going to miss one. You know They'll get it once or twice a year and never stop. So there you go.
