Karli Newman

Send us a text

Your body often knows before your brain can explain it. In this guided visualization, I help you reconnect with the quiet wisdom that is (and always has been) within you.

⏲️The guided visualization starts at 01:30 and is just over 7 minutes long.

Have your journal close by! It’s helpful to reflect on your meditation experience by writing immediately afterward.

Each of us has an inner knowing that guides us. But it isn't always easy to listen. Hey there, my friend. It's me, Karli, your favorite GenX dealer of positive vibes and life and wellness coach for women in midlife and beyond. Thank you for joining me here. As women in midlife and beyond, we were raised to be polite, respectful, and agreeable. Nice traits to have, but perhaps you are one of the many who became an accommodating people-pleaser as a result. You can't see me, but I'm raising my hand high over here! Unfortunately, those people-pleasing tendencies can get in the way of listening to our own intuition. Too often we ignore or discount our gut feelings in order to keep the peace or avoid a difficult choice, especially if we can't explain why something feels off. But here's the truth, your body often knows before your brain can name it. That's your inner knowing and it's time to release any self-doubt or need for outside approval that keeps you from paying attention to it. In this guided visualization, I'll help you slow down, turn inward, and connect with that quiet wisdom you carry. You don't need to do anything. Just listen, breathe, and allow what comes up to guide you. At the end of our time together, I encourage you to write. Have your journal, notebook or favorite app close by, my friend. Find a comfortable position, sitting or lying down. Feel free to fidget a bit. Roll your shoulders. Stretch your neck. Release any tension you're holding in your jaw, your hands, your shoulders. Let your eyes gently close or lower your gaze, and take the first of three long, slow breaths in. Hold it for a moment, and exhale slowly and completely. Do that again. Inhale, deeply. Hold and exhale. Feel yourself settle into this space. One more big breath. Hold. Exhale. Now allow your breath to return to its natural pattern. while you bring your attention to your body. Notice the parts of you that are touching the surface. Feel how you are supported. Feel how that surface holds you and go ahead and relax into that support. Imagine a soft, warm light forming in the center of your body, in your core. This light is your inner knowing. Feel its warmth grow. As it does, it gets brighter. And its color becomes more vibrant. Notice how it feels as it expands gently through your chest, your belly, your shoulders. This inner knowing is deep inside of you. It's there to guide you. Even when you doubt. Even when the outside world doesn't want you to hear it. Your inner knowing is always with you. Without stepping back into the moment, think of a time when something felt off. You just knew in your core that something wasn't aligned. You may describe it as a gut feeling or intuition. At the time, you might not have had words for it or been able to explain it. But you knew. As a gentle observer, what can you identify about that feeling? Where did it sit in your body? What other clues can you see from this perspective? Take a deep breath of self-trust in and exhale self-doubt. Take another deep breath of self-trust in. And exhale self-doubt. Repeat that one more time. Turn your attention back to the warm light of your inner knowing. Is there a message it has for you that applies to the present? Take the next few moments to listen. Hear whatever arises. No need to force anything. Just listen. Just trust. Gently wiggle your fingers and toes, my friend. Coming back closer to the space you're in. And flutter your eyes open. Hold the feeling. Trust that the warm light of your inner knowing is always there. It always will be. Revisit this visualization anytime you want to embrace self-trust and hear the message your inner knowing is telling you. I invite you to spend a few minutes thinking about your experience during this visualization. If you'd like to use it, here's a prompt for you. What did you notice about your inner knowing during this visualization that caught you by surprise? Thank you again for joining me here, my friend. Be well. I'll be back in two weeks with another guided visualization or meditation. In the meantime, catch my episodes of FLIPSIDE OF MIDLIFE®, out every Wednesday.
