As January comes to a close, I invite you to pause and reflect before stepping into February.

In this episode, I share three simple, action-based ways to review the first month of 2026. These practices are designed to spark awareness and help you move into the next month with intention and self-trust.

Also, you can listen to my A Gentle Check-In With Your Body guided meditation here.

Be well, my friend! xo Karli

As January winds down, I encourage you to reflect before February arrives. If you chose a slow, gentle approach to 2026, this month has probably felt different than past starts to a new year. You paused, listened and connected with your inner wisdom. You gave yourself space to honor where you are instead of blindly running headfirst into January. That is worth acknowledging and celebrating, my friend. Take a moment, pat yourself on the back. Do a little dance. Regardless of how you feel about the first month of 2026, these next few days are opportunities to notice where you are, the lessons the month offered you, and then what feels meaningful to carry onward. Keep listening for three ways to help you reflect and move forward into the next month. Welcome to the FLIPSIDE OF MIDLIFE. I'm Karli, your favorite Gen X dealer of positive vibes, Life and Wellness coach and community builder for women in midlife and beyond. I love bringing these bite-sized episodes to you every week. Thanks for showing up, thinking about what I have to say, and using the information that feels right for you to enhance your wellbeing in midlife and beyond. If you receive my Wednesday emails, you know this week's gave you three prompts to ponder as you reflect on January. So here in this episode, I want to share three actions you can take that allow insight to bubble up to the surface. By the way, if you're not part of my email community, you can join at the link in the show notes and transcript. Let's get into those three actions, shall we? The first action you can take is to review your calendar, photo roll, and journal, if you have one. Pull up your calendar to jog your memory on what you did and where you went. Scroll through your photos to see what you experienced and were inspired by. And then, scan through your journal to remember what felt meaningful. Do this without judgment, my friend. This is an exercise in noticing patterns, remembering what felt nourishing, and what drained you. If it feels good, make some notes as you do this month end review. You'll find it helpful when I talk about the third action. This exercise lights the spark of awareness. Another action you can take is to revisit January through your body. Set aside 15 quiet minutes, get into a comfortable position and visualize your month. Slowly move through the different areas of your life and notice where in your body emotions show themselves or your body feels relaxed, tense, or any other interesting sensation. Mentally note these little messages without judgment. Express gratitude for what your body shares with you instead. I recently published a guided meditation called A Gentle Check-In With Your Body. It's not this exact reflection process, but it can be a good starting point for you if tuning into your body is new. To make it easy, I'll share the link in the show notes and transcript for you. And a third action you can take is to create a 'yes and no list'. This is where the notes from the first action come into play. Based on January, make a list of yes things and no things that will or won't go with you into February. For example, my 'yes list' includes Sunday morning barre classes, and my 'no list' includes skipping planning time for my business. Yes, that did not go as I had planned during the month of January. These might be things that worked for you in January or something you want to substitute or continue to focus on in February. What will you do, say, or feel? What won't you? If you like this exercise, it can be something you track all month long, starting in February. Create your monthly 'yes and no list' and add to it throughout the month. Then when you come to the end of the month, it's pretty clear what does and doesn't travel with you into the next. These three actions help you reflect and spark awareness. Review your calendar, photo roll, and journal to jog your memories and notice patterns. Tune into your body to recognize what the month stirred within you. Use your 'yes and no list' to get clear on what does and doesn't go into the next month. None of this requires large chunks of time, my friend. Use a monthly review like this to create the aligned kind of year you desire and deserve. Awareness leads the way forward. I'd love to know if you do any of these actions and how they feel to you. Reach out and share, my friend. My email is karli@flipsideofmidlife.com. Thank you for joining me here today. May January's insights carry you forward into a fantastic February. Please join me here every Wednesday and every other Sunday. I look forward to meeting you here again. Take care and be well, my friend.
