Here we are at the end of a month. I invite you to join me for a bit of reflection. Over the past few weeks, my emails and podcast episodes focused on self-love and self-care. This episode leads you through a few ways to deepen and support them. Keep listening! Hi there, my friend. It's me, Karli, your favorite Gen X dealer of positive vibes, Life and Wellness Coach, and founder of FLIPSIDE OF MIDLIFE®, a community for women in midlife and beyond. I am so grateful for you joining me here. It truly fills my heart and soul to know you're listening, learning, and applying what speaks to you. Grab your journal, notebook, or favorite app, my friend, and let's start with a few prompts. I'll drop a time marker right here so you can revisit as needed. I encourage you to write, but I know it's not for everyone. Use these prompts to reflect in the way that works best for you!

Prompt number one:

What do I know about how I love and care for myself?

Prompt number two:

What roadblocks get in the way of practicing self-love and self-care?

And prompt number three:

What makes it easy for me to practice self-love and self-care? Once you've had a chance to reflect on these prompts, write a few sentences that help you feel deep love for yourself. You may want to format these like affirmations that start with 'I am,' or you may prefer to write in the third person using your name.

Here's an example of each:

The affirmation format, starting with 'I am.' I am a positive, kind, and funny woman with many unique gifts. The third person version. Karli, you are a positive, kind, and funny woman with many unique gifts. These are only examples, my friend. Write your sentences with the words and sentiments that are most meaningful to you, and use the format that works best for you, too. It's important that you feel the love as you are writing these or saying them to yourself. What do you do with these once you have them? Add them to a daily routine, my friend. Write them down a few times while you're enjoying a morning beverage. Place your hands over your heart and say them out loud to yourself in the mirror before you get dressed. Use your voice memo app to record yourself repeating them for a minute in a loop, and then play it back to yourself before you get out of bed in the morning or as you go to sleep. Get creative with how you use these. Notice the shifts you feel over time and change up your sentences every month or so. An intentional practice like this, done consistently, can literally change how you feel about your life. Now to focus on your self-care. Based on the awareness you've created over the past few weeks, commit to yourself that self-care will be part of your day. Yes, my friend, every single day. If you listened to the episode titled Sustainable and Guilt-Free Self-Care, you may already have a list of self-care practices you can complete in 15 minutes or less. I encourage you to listen to that six and a half minute episode if you haven't, and start making that list. Think about it. How will it feel to fit, accessible self-care into every day, and then pepper in a few additional more time or effort-intensive self-care practices during the month? I can't think of a better way to feel really good about myself and that I'm caring for myself. Self-care is a way of expressing self-love. They are a powerful pair, my friend! Before I wrap this episode, pause and acknowledge what you're doing. You are slowing down, reflecting, and noticing to create awareness. Awareness about how you love and care for yourself. And awareness is where the glimmer of change lives. Self-love expands when you see your whole self clearly, and with acceptance and compassion. Self-care strengthens when you weave it into your daily life, instead of waiting for the 'right' moment. Let that earned wisdom guide you forward, my friend. Thanks again for joining me here today. I'd love to know your thoughts about this episode and how you're practicing self-love and self-care. Reach out to me at karli@flipsideofmidlife.com.
