A positive mindset doesn't mean you poo poo the hard experiences in life, my friend. What it does mean is that you can weather the storms in a more productive way. Keep listening to hear the benefits you experience when you embrace a positive mindset. Hi there, my friend. It's me, Karli, your favorite Gen X dealer of positive vibes, Life and Wellness Coach and founder of FLIPSIDE OF MIDLIFE®, a community for women in midlife and beyond. Thank you for being here with me today. I love knowing you're here listening and finding the nuggets to carry with you on your journey. I love talking about positive mindset. It's one of my favorite things to help women with, and it's one of my strengths. Today's episode is about the benefits of positive mindset and I want to share some really big ones with you here today. Do you describe yourself as an optimist or a pessimist? Don't worry, whichever way you go, there's something here in this episode for you and you can learn to shift your thoughts to be more positive. After you hear this list of benefits, you're going to want to do that. As a woman in midlife and beyond, I know that you care about how you feel. You care about how your health is evolving. You care about how your identity is shifting, and a positive mindset can help you with all of it. Did you know that positive thinkers tend to enjoy better overall health and wellbeing than those who think negatively? Research continues to evolve on the benefits of a positive mindset, but I know that what I'm going to cover here is going to be meaningful for you. Let's dive in. The first benefit I want to mention is a boost of your mood. A positive mindset can even lower rates of depression. Think about it. When you're able to shift your negative thoughts to a positive stream of thinking, it feels better. You're noticing the good that's around you. You are more satisfied with life. If you missed my last episode, my friend, I shared small ways that you can hone your positive mindset. So give that a listen if you missed it, or go back and listen if you need a reminder. The second benefit I want to mention is a lower level of stress. We can all use a lower level of stress in our lives. Less negative self-talk equals lower cortisol. Lower cortisol is very impactful for our total stress levels. And guess what? Another benefit is better sleep. We've got fewer negative thoughts running through our mind. There's less rumination happening at 3:00 AM when we are awake because of our shifting hormones. Even with those shifting hormones, having a more positive mindset allows us to sleep more peacefully. Another benefit of a positive mindset is better coping skills during hardship. When tough things are happening, when difficult situations or grief or sadness or loss, or a multitude of things that we experience in this season of life, having the skills to think more positively helps us cope more effectively. A positive mindset helps you recognize your resilience, understand that you have done hard things in the past and you can do them again. You understand and know for sure that this does not last forever, that there is something else on the other side that feels good, that is more positive. It helps you see the possibilities that lie ahead rather than only the challenges.

All of those things:

the mood boost, the lower stress, better sleep, better coping skills also lead to a stronger immune system, better cardiovascular health, even a longer lifespan. Can you see how those things all lead up to your body, your mind being healthier, and having greater overall wellbeing in your life? These are life changing benefits, my friend. So again, if you missed my episode last week where I talked about small ways that you can hone your positive mindset, please go back and listen. I don't want you to feel overwhelmed. I want you to feel uplifted, excited, hopeful about how a shift in your thoughts can improve your life. I hope you're eager to experience the benefits of a positive mindset, my friend.
