FLIPSIDE OF MIDLIFE® with Karli Newman
Hi there! I'm Karli Newman, and this is my podcast, FLIPSIDE OF MIDLIFE®.
In my mid-40s, my positive mindset was tested. I felt life was passing me by. I was restless in my career even though I loved my job, and exhausted after years of ignoring my self-care. PLUS the hormonal shifts of perimenopause were affecting me in ways I didn't know or understand.
Externally I maintained a positive attitude. Internally I struggled with changing my life’s direction. I didn't talk about it and it took me years to work through it.
Over time I took some big leaps, including a move back to Arizona. I created a new approach to my life and maximized my innate positivity. That’s how I ended up here - helping women like you tap into your positive mindset and inner expertise to see and seize the possibilities around you. I don’t want you to do this alone!
I’m a certified coach focused on whole-life wellness. I know from personal experience what a transformational time of life this is and how challenging it feels sometimes! I’m here to help you navigate obstacles, uncover how to move forward, and continue your unique journey of personal growth and self-discovery.
I intentionally create short episodes that fit into your busy life and get you thinking about your well-being. I cover topics that the women in this community care about (that's you BTW!).
Wherever you are in midlife and beyond, there’s space here to honor who you’ve been, love who you are, and be excited about who you are becoming.
This is the FLIPSIDE OF MIDLIFE® and it's a glorious place to be!
Go ahead...binge all of my episodes. xo Karli

Getting High and Staying There: A Guided Visualization
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
What would it feel like to experience a natural high in body, mind, and spirit for 80% of your day? 90%? 100%?
In this guided visualization, I'm helping you imagine exactly that by using three simple, powerful tools: sunlight, sleep, and nourishing food. Find a comfortable spot, close your eyes, and let me take you there.
Revisit this one as often as you need. The more familiar it feels, the easier it becomes to find your way back.
xo Karli

Imagine what it might feel like to feel good, really good for 80% of your day, 90%, 100%. Experiencing a natural high in body, mind and spirit isn't a lucky accident or a distant memory from your younger years, my friend. It's a feat within your grasp, and today I'm going to help you feel it. Welcome, my friend. I'm Karli Newman, your favorite Gen X dealer of positive vibes, Life and Wellness Coach, and founder of FLIPSIDE OF MIDLIFE®, a community for women in midlife and beyond. Thank yourself for taking this time for you today. Let's use it well. I created this visualization to help you imagine what it's like to use sunlight, sleep, and food to live in your naturally high state for long periods of time. Start by getting into a comfortable position, seated or lying down. Whatever feels right for your body right now. Let your shoulders drop away from your ears. Unclench your jaw, soften your hands and let your eyes close, or lower your gaze if that's comfortable. Take a slow, easy breath in through your nose, and exhale gently through your mouth. Again, inhale and exhale. One more time. Breathing in, this time hold at the top and let it go. Allow your breath to return to its natural rhythm. Imagine yourself in bed, in that place where you're not hard asleep and not yet awake. Feel the pillow under your head, the coziness of your covers. As the sun rises and you start to become more aware, you know you've had a night of deep, restorative sleep. You slept through the night undisturbed. You feel rested and ready to wake before your alarm. You choose to keep your eyes closed as you savor the good feelings this kind of sleep has provided. In your mind, you think of five things you're grateful for. The positive energy created with this practice runs through you and you place your hand on your heart. Feel the gratitude in your well rested body and mind. You open your eyes slowly and sit at the edge of your bed. The golden light of dawn comes into the room and you feel a lightness in your body. A sense of ease. You're up early and there's no need to rush. Make your way outside to feel the warmth of a new day's light on your face. Breathe in the early sunlight. Feel it washing over your skin. You close your eyes for a few deep breaths and simply receive it all. Hear the birds greeting the new day. Open your eyes to notice the immense sky. Feel the breeze on your skin. As you experience this start to your day, something inside of you is shifting. Your gentle start is raising your alertness, sharpening your focus, and establishing a good mood. Breathe it in my friend. Now move on to your morning routine. Still, there's no need to rush. You continue to move at a pace of ease. Now imagine where your first opportunity for nourishment typically happens in your day. See yourself preparing a tasty, colorful, nutrient packed meal or snack. You crave what fuels your body, keeps you energized, heals and sustains you. You eat slowly, intentionally, and with genuine appreciation for what this food does for your body, mind, and spirit. You satisfy more than your hunger. You feed your creativity, clarity and joy. See yourself moving through an entire week feeling like this. Rested in the morning, filled with ease and fully alert. Craving food that fuels these feelings and sustains you throughout the day. Nights of easily falling asleep, sleeping undisturbed and waking restored. Every day feeling really good for 80, 90, 100% of the time. This is not out of reach for you. It is not too late, my friend. You can layer in what feels good for your body, mind, and spirit. Hold onto this good feeling. Let it settle into every part of you. Remember what this feels like so you can find your way back here again and again. Take a deep breath in and exhale. Start to bring your awareness gently back to the room around you. Wiggle your fingers and toes. When it feels right, let your eyes open. Stay here as long as you need to. Revisit this guided visualization to build your familiarity with your feelings of a consistent natural high. Thank you so much for spending this time with me.
