Hi there! I'm Karli Newman, and this is my podcast, FLIPSIDE OF MIDLIFE®.
In my mid-40s, my positive mindset was tested. I felt life was passing me by. I was restless in my career even though I loved my job, and exhausted after years of ignoring my self-care. PLUS the hormonal shifts of perimenopause were affecting me in ways I didn't know or understand.
Externally I maintained a positive attitude. Internally I struggled with changing my life’s direction. I didn't talk about it and it took me years to work through it.
Over time I took some big leaps, including a move back to Arizona. I created a new approach to my life and maximized my innate positivity. That’s how I ended up here - helping women like you tap into your positive mindset and inner expertise to see and seize the possibilities around you. I don’t want you to do this alone!
I’m a certified coach focused on whole-life wellness. I know from personal experience what a transformational time of life this is and how challenging it feels sometimes! I’m here to help you navigate obstacles, uncover how to move forward, and continue your unique journey of personal growth and self-discovery.
I intentionally create short episodes that fit into your busy life and get you thinking about your well-being. I cover topics that the women in this community care about (that's you BTW!).

Hearing the words starting over used to make my stomach drop. Not anymore. Now I realize I've lived enough years to never start over ever again. Even when I wanna tear it all down and rebuild, I have life experience that becomes the foundation to help me start anew. It's comforting to remember how resourceful I am. The decades behind me are proof of it. You have plenty of evidence in your back pocket too, my friend. I'm Karli, your favorite Gen X dealer of positive vibes, Life and Wellness Coach, and community builder for women in midlife and beyond. I'm so happy to have you join me here today. Whenever you start something new, it's easy to feel like you're back at the beginning, starting from scratch. But you're not, my friend. Not even close! Think of the pivots, hard lessons, and leaps of faith you've taken over the years. All of it adds up to life experience that provides a foundation for whatever comes next. Starting anew isn't the same as starting over. You have the wisdom, strength, and courage to ensure starting over is behind you for good. Today, I want to help you notice and appreciate the proof of just how resourceful you are. Let's begin. Find a comfortable position and settle in, my friend. Wiggle or fidget a bit, tip your head side to side, raise and lower your shoulders. Do whatever you need to get out those little bits of tension or tightness. Close your eyes or lower your gaze and take a few big inhales and exhales at your own pace. Focus on starting your inhale in your belly, allowing it to expand into your chest, and exhale slowly through your mouth, making your exhale longer than your inhale. Now let your breath return to your natural calm pattern as we move on. Throughout life, you've been gathering evidence, knowledge earned by living and proof of what you're made of. As we move through this meditation, allow this evidence to bubble to the surface. Think back to a time when you were a beginner. Go as far back as you want to And remember how it felt. What emotions are tied to this memory? See yourself. What did your body language look like? Now think of the evolution you went through to move from beginner to competent to skilled. What was required for you to move through those phases? Take a big breath in and a long breath out. Take a moment to appreciate, express gratitude for, you, the beginner. You moving through that process. The knowledge, understanding, and skills that you have. Now I invite you to think about how that experience informed you in the future. How did that beginner experience influence you further on in your life? Take a moment to appreciate how one experience of you being a beginner influences another. Take a deep breath in Hold it at the top for a moment and exhale completely. Begin to bring your awareness back to the space you're in. Feeling the surface beneath you. Noticing the sounds around you. Wiggle your fingers and toes, and when you're ready, let your eyes gently flutter open. I invite you to record the evidence that came to you today. Whether it's in writing or on a voice recording, the proof you have of your experience, strength, and resilience can be the reminder you need when you feel like you're starting over. You are wise, resourceful, and brave, my friend. Start anew instead.
