Let’s challenge the belief that you must feel ready before you begin.

In this episode, I explore how readiness is often a by-product of motion, not a starting line. Through honest reflections on delaying projects, over-preparing, and waiting for clarity, I unpack how fear can dress up as preparation and keep us stuck longer than necessary.

As seasons change, so does capacity. Showing up today may look different from what it used to and that’s not failure, it’s growth.

I talk about:

  • calling out readiness as a myth
  • redefining showing up in new seasons
  • small steps as right-sized commitments
  • faith, obedience, and small beginnings
  • one honest step to take this week

“Do not despise small beginnings.” - Zechariah 4:10

You don’t have to arrive polished. You can begin as you are.

The Striving Butterfly Podcast is a space for honest conversations about growth, healing, faith, identity, and becoming — without the pressure to perform.

Welcome And Set The Intention

SPEAKER_00

Okay, welcome back. I've got just a bit of room to do another episode. I am looking at my generator. Hopefully, I won't speak too long. Oh, I don't know. I might have to pause this. Let's see. Welcome back to the Strive and Butterfly podcast. Today I want to talk to the part of you that keeps saying, I'll start when I feel ready. When I have more clarity, when I've got a bit more energy, when I've got a bit more confidence. But what if readiness isn't the starting point? What if clarity comes after you move? So many of us are waiting for the right moment and calling it preparation. But sometimes preparation is just fear wearing a smarter outfit. We plan, we tweak, we wait. And weeks turn into months, and months turn into years. I've been there. I have been there where I took many years to even get this podcast off the road. I took many years to start creatively minded studios and create my first journal. I couldn't tell you how many years of designing that I had done, and I procrastinated and I made excuses. I continued to screenshot and yes, I'm gonna do this, and I like this version, but I never got it off the ground. Here's the truth: you don't get ready and then show up, you show up and become ready. What showing up looked like before might not fit your life now. Your capacity has changed, your boundaries have shifted, your responsibilities are different. And that doesn't mean you're failing, it means you're evolving. Showing up might now look like one post instead of five. One conversation instead of a crowd. One small habit instead of a full routine. Small steps are still steps. There's a verse that reminds me of this constantly. Do not despise small beginnings. God doesn't wait for the finished version of you. He works with what you bring. Messy prayers, unclear plans, tired obedience. Commit what you have, not what you wish you had. It's a hard one. It is a very hard one. But when you are conversating and having moans and gripes about what you haven't got and what you do want, take a moment to just pause. Take a moment to think, let me try this in a different way. Instead of asking, can I do everything? Ask what's one honest step I can take. One email, one walk, one conversation, one moment of courage. Momentum doesn't come from pressure, it comes from presence. What have you been delaying because you don't feel ready? This podcast, I'm freezing in this room, but for me, I have learned it isn't about perfection and showing up in the perfect way all the time and sounding perfect and having everything all together. It's about becoming and you seeing me become, you seeing that growth and you being on that journey with me. If this episode helped you, share it with someone who needs permission to start again. Let your friend know you can start again. This is the Strive and Butterfly Podcast. Here I show up even when I don't have it all together. Because you know what? I'm still becoming like you. So what's one thing? Just one you could start next week. So cold, so so so cold. Oh my gosh. But you done it. You done it, you done it, you done it. It's so cold, it is so so cold.
