Daily Affirmations 033: When Life Doesn’t Look Like You Expected | You Are Not Behind
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
In this episode of Show Yourself Love Affirmations, we sit with the honest thought many of us carry quietly:
“I genuinely believed I’d be further along by now.”
Whether it’s relationships, career, business, healing, purpose, or personal growth, disappointment can make us question where we are and whether we have somehow missed our moment.
But Jeremiah 29:11 reminds us that Yahweh still knows the plans He has for us. Even when our life doesn’t match our timeline, El Roi sees us, Jehovah Jireh provides for us, and Jehovah Shalom keeps us in peace.
This episode includes scripture, affirmations, encouragement, and a reminder that your delay is not the end of your story.
You are not behind.
You are not forgotten.
You are not overlooked.
Your story is still unfolding.

Introduction
SPEAKER_00Hey, I genuinely believed I'll be further along by now. Do you have the same thoughts? I thought I'd be engaged or married by now. I thought I would have had the promotion with the level of expertise that I have. Maybe the business would be thriving. Maybe I'll be healed from that relationship by now. Instead, parts of my life have me thinking I'm somewhere I never expected. Hello, beautiful people, and welcome to the Striving Battlefly, where every week I choose grace over pressure, truth over comparison, and promises over my fears.
Disclaimer
SPEAKER_00Before we begin, I want to clarify something. The names of God I mention are not different gods, they are different revelations of the one true living God. Each name shows us something about his character, that he's a provider, healer, shepherd, peace, strength, redeemer, and father. So as we speak these names, we are not calling on many gods, we are remembering the many ways God reveals himself to us. What do you do when life doesn't look the way you imagined it would? The truth? Many of us carry silent expectations. We don't always say them out loud, but they're there. By this age. By this season, by this point. Yes, I have thought I would be somewhere else. And when reality doesn't match expectations, disappointment can quietly become the lens through which we see everything. But Elroy, the God who sees me, doesn't measure my life by my timeline. He sees the full picture. He sees the tears I've cried. He sees the prayers I've whispered. He sees the strength it has taken just to keep me going. And he measures my life by his purpose. My scripture today comes from
Key Scripture: Jeremiah 29:11
SPEAKER_00Jeremiah 29:11. For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord. Plans to prosper you and not to harm you. Plans to give you hope and a future. Notice something. He says, I know the plans, not you know the plans. There will be seasons where you don't understand what he's doing, because he has written a story you cannot see in full. Your delay is not the end of your story. Sometimes Jehovah Jira, the Lord who provides, is preparing provision you haven't walked through yet. Sometimes Jehovah Nissi, the Lord our banner, is covering you in battles you didn't even realize you were facing. Sometimes Jehovah Shalom, the Lord our peace, is teaching you how to rest even when life feels uncertain. And sometimes Yahweh is simply asking you to trust him one more day. If you're breathing today, there's still more to come. So don't allow comparison to convince you that you've missed your moment. Your story is still unfolding. It's hard, but it's true. Before we move into speaking over ourselves, take a moment to let that truth settle in your heart. Let's speak life over ourselves today. Take a deep breath. Repeat these affirmations after me or journal them down.
Affirmations
SPEAKER_00Pause at any time. I trust Yahweh's timing even when I don't understand it. I release the pressure to have everything figured out. I refuse to measure my worth by someone else's timeline. I am growing even when growth isn't obvious. Elroy sees me, knows me, and has not forgotten me. Jehovah Jirah is working behind the scenes on my behalf. I choose faith over fear. I choose Jehovah Shalom's peace over panic. My waiting is not wasted. Every season is preparing me for what comes next. I am exactly where I need to be today. I don't need to compare my journey with anyone else's. What Yahweh has for me will not pass me. I honor how far I've already come. I release disappointment and receive hope. Yahweh's plans for my life are still good. I choose gratitude for today's blessing. I will not rush what Jehovah Jirah is developing and preparing for me. I am becoming stronger, wiser, and more compassionate. I am loved, seen, and never forgotten by Elroy. Jehovah Shalom is guarding my heart and my mind. My best chapters of my story are still being written. As we come out of these affirmations,
Encouragement
SPEAKER_00carry this renewed perspective into the rest of your day, your week, and your month. If today felt personal, I want you to remember this. You are not behind. You are not forgotten. You are not overlooked. The Lord sees you. Jehovah Jirah is providing for you. Jehovah Shalom is keeping you. Yahweh is still writing your story. You are simply living a story that hasn't reached the final chapter. Don't let one difficult season convince you that your whole life is disappointing. He is faithful even when the path feels uncertain. Keep showing up. Keep believing. Keep praying. And keep becoming the person he's shaping you to be. And because we're halfway through the year, I've also created
