I share my take on the Trump and Pope Leo's beef from the perspective of a conservative-leaning Catholic who still supports Trump but rejects the noise and bad religious optics. We weigh peace talk against the reality of Iran and Hezbollah, then land on why tuning out politics feels good but can cost you later.

• Why the Trump vs Pope Francis clash hits Catholics differently
• The “Trump as Jesus” meme backlash and why it crosses a line
• Concerns about evangelical influence around Trump
• Pope Leo calling for peace and how Catholics should hear it
• Iran, Lebanon, Hezbollah, the Ayatollah, and the argument for removing         extremists
• Coexistence, religious freedom, and when rules get forced through violence
• Why voting matters even when faith is the bigger goal
• I ask for constructive push back and honest debate

Let me know what you think about what I said
If it’s like constructive and it’s like, dude, I think this and that, I’ll probably read it and discuss it on another podcast

Sick Days And Restless Minds

SPEAKER_01

You are listening to the objective jerk, and I said jerk.

SPEAKER_00

What's up? How's everybody doing?

SPEAKER_01

I've been uh I can kind of hear it, I still have. Been kind of under the weather, had a chest cold. Yeah, and it's make it makes my voice sound different. Does it sound very whitish? Come on, baby. Oh yeah, not quite.

SPEAKER_00

But yeah, I've been kind of just not doing anything because I've just been sick, trying to, you know, rest, you know, sometimes your brain wants to move.

Why Trump And The Pope Clash

SPEAKER_01

See, that's kind of my problem sometimes, is my like, I don't know, like I feel like I need to do stuff, but then my brain doesn't want to do nothing. Like, that's the my depression or whatever it is. And then like now I'm kind of like my brain is like, okay, let's do some stuff, but then my body's like, oh dude, you're sick, you can't do it. Um so it's just like, come on, come on, man. But I hope everybody's doing well. I kind of want to just talk about this rift, this beef between Trump and the Pope. Um, you know, I'm not the perfect person to talk to about Catholicism because I'm, you know, I'm a year in. No, I'm more than a year in, but it's been a year since I've been baptized. I would say a year and a half, close to two years, maybe focusing on Catholicism, but it's been more than that being a Christian, right? You guys have all heard my story on how my journey to Catholicism. I've talked about it a lot, so I'm not gonna do it again now. Unless you want me to repeat, but there's man, well, I don't even know what which one that is. The I'm trying to set up my display so it doesn't turn off.

SPEAKER_00

Where is it at? Oh, there come on.

SPEAKER_01

Let's see, because I have my little notes on, so I gotta turn the auto lock off while I do this. Oh, I was gonna read some stuff. Anyway, but I don't know, going in, I don't know if it's like the stuff going on today in the world and everything, but I'm and I guess maybe because I'm conservative, I or I consider myself consider conservative, I kind of lean more towards like traditional Catholicism, which you know the church I go to is the Norvisotto, Norvus Ordo. Is that how you say it? See, I don't even know if I'm saying it right. But they're it's got a little bit of traditional mixed in with it too, I think. Like they're like some of the newer Catholic churches just don't even look Catholic, they make it look more Protestant and stuff like that. And but again, I'm I've talked about that in other podcasts, so I'm not gonna go into that again. But anyway, that's kind of where I fall. And I'm Republican, I guess. I voted Republican. I like Trump, he's not perfect, he's not he's not Jesus, even though in the meme, which I'll talk about later. But overall, I think he's doing a good job. But there does kind of seem to be this sudden anti-Trump thing from a lot of people that some I follow, some I don't. And then like Dr. Taylor Marshall, he's kind of talking about in his he did a stream basically talking about this, and kind of I didn't like his take with Trump, you know.

SPEAKER_00

Go watch it if you're curious.

The Meme Problem And Bad Influences

SPEAKER_01

But yeah, it's like um I think you know, there are some people, it's just like you can't have the light without the dark, you can't have the good without the bad. There are some people who are just meant to do certain things, and some people aren't. You know what I mean? I believe Trump was meant to be president, man. Like he has the right fortitude and mentality to be a president. He's kind of an asshole. He don't take no shit, he's got a little bit of an ego, you know what I mean? But then can he, you know, be? I don't know, there's some things that he can't do, you know. He couldn't be a doctor, or he couldn't, you know, he I don't think he has maybe the right compassion for other things. You know what I mean? So it's like there is nobody who's great at everything except for Jesus, right? So I don't know, it's like people expect him to be like perfect, and then just because he's not, now they're like, okay, I don't like him anymore. It's like we know who he is, and I think a lot of it's bullshit. I think a lot of it's like clickbait stuff. You know, like I understand who Trump is, I understand kind of like what's going on, and like it's you know, he hasn't done anything where I was like, I mean, he does little stuff, like the meme, okay. I guess talk about it now. The meme of him that he posted, which I guess he removed, and I don't even think he posts it. I think he writes stuff and somebody does it, or somebody's like, hey, I was gonna do a meme. Oh, yeah, okay. But yes, I'll agree with Dr. Tart Taylor Marshall. I don't like the meme, and I don't like Trump's religious influences that he has around him, you know, because it's not Catholic. They had the lady at the White House, I don't know her name, but she's some evangelistic person. And so, you know, as a as a as a Catholic, it's like, okay, no, this is what are you doing?

SPEAKER_00

It's just it doesn't work for Catholics, you know. I guess it's kind of hypocritical, you know, but as a Catholic, I know I'm in the right Christian religion.

SPEAKER_01

And the reason I know that is because it's the church, the religion that Jesus created. Communion, the Last Supper, everything like it was what He created, the Pope, all that stuff. Jesus created it. He didn't write a book, but the Holy Spirit that he gifted to the apostles to continue the church that he created, they wrote the book and other, you know what I mean, and influence from other individuals who you know were influenced by the Holy Spirit. Why did I just say this? Oh, because that's what Catholics, you know, that's how I know. And then when you see all the the attacking on Christians, it's always Catholics, you know. So, and a lot of people don't even know. Like, people think like Protestant, like want to be Protestant, or other people are like, oh my gosh, how is how is he gonna be, you know, in the church with that uh evangelistic whatever chick and then say something about the Pope? It's like they're not even the same thing. I mean, yeah, it's Christian, but you know, it's not the it's not the same thing.

SPEAKER_00

But I think I don't disagree with what Trump said about the Pope.

SPEAKER_01

Let me okay, let me let's see.

Pope Francis On War And Morality

SPEAKER_00

I did let's see, I do have a couple, let me see. So I was gonna read over some stuff. So the Pope has been against the current war with Iran and Lebanon, right?

SPEAKER_01

Which he should. He's the Pope, but you know, regardless, he should. Oh sorry, I got my camera on. Hear my dogs barking every time, right? But the Pope should be, you know, advocating for peace and this and that, but he can't really, oh, this person's wrong. I don't know. Pablo isn't isn't the greatest. He he's done some things so far that's been a little like, oh man, come on. You know, you like some of the they allow like a lot of the the gay pride, this and that. Look, I know I talk about this with my wife a lot because she has a lot of friends that are gay, and I have a nephew that is gay. And I used to not really care one way or the other. I still don't care if somebody, you know, I'm not gonna preach and you're going to hell and this and that, but that's what I believe, you know, and it's clearly stated in the Bible to not men not to lay with men and women not to lay with women, you know. So there is no trying to work around it. I believe that being gay is like being attracted to children, or attracted to animals, or attracted to gambling, or attracted to alcohol, or attracted to drugs, whatever. You know, those the sinful, you know, not everything's going screen and everything. But it's all it's all the same thing. It's it's it's like lust and I mean it's kind of I guess they're all kind of lust in a way, because you you just crave it. And everybody's got that. Everybody has something, everybody has a problem with gambling or drinking or you know, whatever. The thing is, is people used to try and fight the urges to be gay, but now it's like it's oh no, be gay, it's good, it's fine.

SPEAKER_00

And then you can kind of see the craziness that's going on, you know.

SPEAKER_01

You got it's just anyway, so I'm not talking about that, but the Pope did kind of it's like he accepts, oh hey, there are people too in this yes, there are people, yes, Jesus loves them, Jesus wants them, but they have to quit being gay and they have to repent, you know.

SPEAKER_00

You can't like, oh, I love Jesus, but I'm gay. Sorry, Don Lemon, and it doesn't work. So, yes, excuse me, Jesus.

Iran Hezbollah And The Case For Force

SPEAKER_01

I don't have the Bible verses, but you know, so the Pope is not wrong, you know, w war's not cool. I agree. But the thing is, is what's going on right now is like I do agree with it. You know what I mean? You had to Iran has been the hub, the Ayatollah for, you know, it's always been death to America, death to Israel. And so they're taking care of that. And then you got the Hezbollah, who their headquarters is in Lebanon, you know what I mean? So it's like they're getting rid of Hezbollah, and they're getting rid of the extremist, the Muslim extremists, you know. Does that mean that they're gonna go away? No, 20, 30 years from now. Sorry. You know, it's gonna come up again in a different faction and a different country in the Middle East or something, I don't know. Maybe it'll be in Europe now because they're all over there. But, you know, and then like the Pope goes to Lebanon and and he's like, hey, there's you know, half half are Muslim, half are Christian. And I didn't know that. I was like, what? So I looked into it, you know, and it is true, you know. It's not like you know, obviously, there's lots of different Christians, but it is true. And he's like, Oh, see, look at you got Christian and and Muslim living together. Maybe right now they are, and there are a lot of people, probably most people, most Christians don't care what this guy's doing. They're you know, hey, if you want to be Muslim, fine. As far as my religion goes, I'm going to heaven if I'm, you know, abide by the rules, and you're not. It sucks for you, but I'm not gonna force you to do it. You know what I mean? And same for you know, Islam. People of Islam just live their life, Islam, don't force whatever. But you have you know, radical Islamists that like in Iran, how they just took over Iran in the 70s and just turned it around and made it a shithole and just a horrible place for a woman to grow up, and then you know, you got the Hezbollah, and there's been like civil war, and there's been fighting, and then violence against individuals in Lebanon, and for years and years and years, decades, you know what I mean, or hundreds, I mean, I don't know how far back it went, but um, so yeah, as of right now, I mean, now there's kind of they're going after Hezbollah, but as of right now, it's you know, you have the majority of Christians and Muslims living together, but I think it's just the Hezbollah, because that's like the headquarters for Hezbollah. So they're not gonna bite the hand that feeds, right? They're there, they're kind of laying low, they're not gonna mess up things where they live, but they're you know making problems for Israel, and and Iran is the you know, the bad guy while Hezbollah in Lebanon, you know? And okay, they get rid of the Ayatollah and whatever stuff with Iran, cool, but then you it it's still it's like it's like you know, you're what do you call it? Pest control guy, right? You got ants coming in. You spray and kill those ants. Alright, cool. But more are gonna come, they're gonna keep coming because you their nest, you gotta get their nest, you know what I mean? So um that's the plan is to rid the world of these Islamic extremists, you know, and it's like it's not maybe a lot of people think like, oh, it's Islam horrible. You know, a lot of people, a lot of Christians think that Islam was created by Satan, and it was Satan that was feeding Muhammad the information as a counter to fight against Christianity, which was Catholicism. And, you know, maybe that's true, maybe it's not, I don't know. Maybe, you know, every religion, if you are a good person that abides by, you know, you could have somebody that's I don't know, somewhere way off in whatever, doesn't commit, they don't know what the sins are, but they don't commit those sins. You know, they find a woman, they get married, you know, they live the life that that Jesus set down as an example. And then, you know, a lot of I think there's some scholars, Catholic scholars and stuff that believe that they will they will go to heaven as well, you know.

SPEAKER_00

And you know, Jesus being born in Bethel was not like an accident, you know. There were other people all around the world.

SPEAKER_01

He could have been born anywhere, but God knew the best place to plant his seed and for it to to grow and you know become what it is. So that's why it is where it was and it didn't happen in Europe or whatever, you know. Because I mean I think that was kind of the at the time, yeah, there was lots of there was people all over the world, but at the time that was probably the Mecca area, so I mean, which makes sense. Again, I'm not a historian or anything, so feel free to, you know, correct me. I'm just bullshitting here. But why did I go about this? Oh yeah, because so everybody can, you know, whatever. But the thing is when you have people trying to force the the the rules of their religion on other people and they're killing people that don't want to abide by it, you gotta get rid of those people. If, you know, if Islam, all the religions, and we can live together, and you do your thing, I'll do mine, and there's no, hey, they can try and talk people into it. No, nope, okay, whatever. But when they start getting violent about it and start forcing stuff and start, you know controlling like censoring, you know, people's voices and censoring media and all that kind of stuff, that's it's not cool, you know.

SPEAKER_00

So, like, I get why I mean I don't want wars either, but the Ayatollah and Hezbollah, they gotta go.

SPEAKER_01

So, like I said in the last one, I think the El Salvador, was it was it El Salvador? I always forget, but the the you know, whatever that was taken from in the middle of the night and stuff like that, I think that was, you know, that was just I mean something that needed to be done for the country, but it was more just a flex, you know, again. So when they when this time came and they had to barter with Iran, and Iran, they're getting destroyed, man. It's not all great. War never is, it sucks. People are dying, innocent people are dying. But I mean, the stuff has happened throughout human history. But I mean, compare it to like the amount of people that have suffered and died under Hezbollah and Ayatollah, you know. It's just I just I get it, you know what I mean? I don't, you know, there's a lot of people who are like, oh my gosh, Omega, they don't like because Trump promised no new wars. Well, technically it's not a new war. You know, it's been going on with Israel and everything forever. We just helped.

SPEAKER_00

But I think everything that Trump is doing, whether economically or geopolitically, it's all benefiting America.

SPEAKER_01

We aren't feeling or seeing those benefits yet, but they will come. So I'm hoping that JD Vance wins the next election. And so that way we can kind of see the stuff that Trump did and see the benefits from it. Because if it they get a Democrat, they're gonna be like, oh, look at see, it's because we voted in Democrat. It's like, no, you're not gonna change stuff in a year. I don't know, it's just it's annoying. But anyway, uh so what was he saying? So I get the war. Pope. He's not the greatest Pope, but I I pray for him every time I pray the rosary. He has added intentions for the Pope. For those that know, you know. But I was hoping that other guy was gonna become Pope. I can't remember his name now, but the guy from Africa. Somewhere he was pretty conservative. Black guy. What was his name? I don't remember. But I was kind of hopeful that he was gonna get the job, but everybody was like he's not going to because he's too conservative. Yes, it's in you know religion too, unfortunately.

SPEAKER_00

Because, man, good versus evil. It's been like that. So, you know, the Pope is doing what he's supposed to do.

Why Voting Still Matters

SPEAKER_01

And but I think Trump just needs to kind of not say anything. He needs to shut up about what the Pope is saying. Just let the Pope say his thing. And the meme, I'm glad that he removed it. It was a stupid ass meme. Did not like it. Where it's like portraying him as Jesus, not cool. Yeah, you know, I don't know. So I mean, but because of that, I'm not gonna be like, well, I'm so disappointed I voted in Trump. No, I'm still glad I voted for Trump. You know, it's yeah, I'm trying to, I talk about like trying to distance myself from the crap that's going on, right? I'm trying to focus more on Catholicism. But then crap like this kind of makes it hard, you know. But the thing is, you can live your life like vanilla ice. You know, vanilla ice talked about how he's never been in politics, never voted, never paid attention. You know, because yeah, in his lifetime, not a whole lot changes. Things, he's like, you know, things are always the same. Yeah, in your lifetime within, you know, 50, 70 years, but overall things will change.

SPEAKER_00

And you have to kind of still, you don't need to be infatuated with it, you don't need to be angry about it, but you should still pay attention because if you look at the Republicans now, they are the Democrats 20 years ago.

SPEAKER_01

So things are changing, even though vanilla ice is like, oh, it's always the same. It's like, no, things are changing. So the Republicans from 20 years ago don't even exist.

SPEAKER_00

They are now what the Democrats were, and then now the Democrats are just fucking psycho-leftists. So 20 years from now, what's it gonna be?

Final Take And Listener Feedback

SPEAKER_01

So you can't just like, oh I mean, ignorance is bliss, it really is, but I don't know, it's not you not caring and not voting because it doesn't matter, it does matter, it does. I mean, for your your you know, way of life, in the end, no, it doesn't matter, right? We all either go to hell or we go to heaven, right? So it doesn't matter who you vote for, what matters is that you believe in Jesus, that he was resurrected, that he is our Lord, and that you, you know, do not sin and take communion, ask forgiveness, pray the rosary, all that good stuff. But, you know, if you're what you you want your life and your kids and maybe your grandkids to have a decent life, you you kind of want to pay attention to what's going on and and vote for who you think is gonna continue making your country or the world a better place, you know? So I don't know. Yeah, vanilla ice. I like vanilla ice, but I think that was a stupid take.

SPEAKER_00

I mean, that's just kind of like the normal idiot, you know. I don't know. And then Dr.

SPEAKER_01

Taylor Marshall, man, like he, I don't know, he just went a little too far in his last one politically. That was, I mean, yeah, it's, you know, he should just stay with Catholic politics, which obviously the Pope and the president is a thing, but I don't know, I just don't think it's just kind of weird. Like he's he's like, oh my, all the people I know that were mega are disappointed.

SPEAKER_00

Well, I mean, yeah, the meme is kind of disappointing. But and I don't think he should be, you know, fighting with the Pope.

SPEAKER_01

It's you know, stupid and pointless. But that's the kind of the problem. That is the one of the problems, though, with America, and you know, like, because they're Protestant, you know what I mean? So he's influenced by Protestantism. But I mean, you know, the Pope's not wrong, there should be peace, but Catholics and Muslims, can they coexist? Some can. But even though, like, once this is all done and Hezbollah's gone, Lebanon, there's gonna come a time where it's gonna it's gonna get shitty again, you know?

SPEAKER_00

And it's always been that way.

SPEAKER_01

It's but you can't like because then you have like what you have Muslims in the states who are like wanting people to not bring their dogs because they're unclean to certain things, and it's like you can't chain, you know, if you want those type of rules and whatever, you need to go back to where you came from, you know. Yeah, you can come to America, yeah. You can have a mosque and you can pray and this and that, but that's it. You know, they don't need to be sounding the five times a day for you know, you know, I don't know, it's just it can be done, but I don't know, that's the thing that's like I said at the beginning, it's some people should not be in charge, like Kamala Harris. You know, I'm I've always considered myself like I never wanted to be the top in charge. I wouldn't want to be president, I wouldn't want to be, you know, commander of a of a company, a captain. I always felt more comfortable in a supporting role, like the first sergeant or whatever. So, you know, get things done, help, you know, like I would be part of a cabinet for a president to help, you know, I wouldn't even want to be vice president. I would just want to be there to help out and get things done. I don't want to be the one to make the decisions. I I think I could do it, but I just don't want to.

SPEAKER_00

And you know, some people some people want to, but they're not capable. And vice versa. So it's like, I don't know, people hating on Trump.

SPEAKER_01

I mean, his his character, his attitude and everything, is yeah, I get it. But he's dude, he's kicking ass right now. You can't deny that. They try and make it seem like he isn't, but yeah, there's I I mean, sorry, Dr. Taylor Marshall, but I don't know anybody who voted for Trump that is unhappy with what he's doing.

SPEAKER_00

They all love it. So yeah, again, don't like the meme.

SPEAKER_01

Stop bickering with the Pope, let the Pope do his thing, let the Pope pope, you know. Um, but yeah, that's it. I don't know. I just wanted to kind of share my thoughts on that. Let me know what you think about what I said. Like constructive, you know. I don't want the atheist like your gods are like, okay, yeah, okay, I get it. You're retarded. But, you know, maybe somebody who's I mean, of course, people that agree with me, that's always nice. But, you know, I'm kind of just people that are have a little bit of opposing view of what I said, they would send me a little thing, a little comment. If it's if it's like constructive and it's like, dude, I think this and that, I'll probably like just read it and discuss it on another podcast. Make you famous. Yeah. Anyway, that's all. Just wanted to kind of talk about that. Hope everybody's doing well, and I'll see you guys next time. All right, God bless. All right, bye bye.
