Scott Bertelsen was a high  school  language arts  teacher for  39 years.  He primarily  taught  in the  areas of  writing,  speech and  literature. He also co-directed  35  musicals,  30 plays  and coached large  group  and individual  speech.  Scott  was  inducted into  the Iowa High School Speech Association's Hall of Fame and  honored additionally for his significant contributions to high school musicals.  He retired in 2019 yet continues to  substitute  teach, instruct adult education courses and host Mr. B's Dinner Party on all podcast platforms as well as Mr. B's Neighborhood on KIOW.com.  

Troy J. Thompson is a 5th generation Iowa farmer who served 26 years in the United States Army. He used the lessons taught to him by Mr. B in high school to get his first off-the-farm job as a radio station DJ and for 22 years held the record for All-State Speech performances under Mr. B’s tutelage. (The record was broken in 2015 but Troy was there to announce it.) He’s the local school board president, a regenerative farmer, and producer of four podcasts from his family farm studio at Sunnyside Farms - including Mr. B’s Dinner Party!
