Hey guys, welcome back to Updated AF Collective, the podcast. I am your host, megan Wirth. Another week, another amazing episode. Thank you guys so so much. I have been watching the charts for Apple Podcasts and I continue every single day to make the US, canada and the UK's charts in the mid to low 100s, in the mid to low 100s and again, it's just. It amazes me that you know I started this podcast less than a year ago and it's just doing well and I've. I'm still absolutely in love with it and thank you guys so much for leaving reviews. If you guys have left a review, can you go back and make sure it's actually there, because a couple of you guys have left a review? Can you go back and make sure it's actually there, because a couple of you guys have like screenshotted it and DM'd it to me on Instagram and, for whatever reason, there's issues with Apple Podcasts not actually publishing the review. So if you left a review, go back and check to see if it actually got posted and if it didn't, I would greatly appreciate if you guys reposted it, because it means a lot to me. I actually read them. I post them on my Instagram. I'm just so proud of the podcast and this little project that has turned into a passion for me. So I just had to say thank you guys, so so much for doing that.
Speaker 1:Today's episode is going to be all about the retreat that I'm speaking at in San Juan, puerto Rico, and I want to invite you guys. Cindy Steroy you guys know her from a previous episode, turning Travel into a Profitable Business, and you guys love that episode. And that's what this retreat is all about, since it comes on and just breaks it down for everybody. And if you guys are interested in just seeing what the retreat is about and what the itinerary looks like, what we're going to be doing, I linked everything in the show notes. They want to do you know better than you know the year prior, kind of thing. It's just like you're looking to just update your life and this retreat is a really good way to do that. Speaker 1:Welcome to the Updated AF Collective. Hey guys, welcome back to the show. I have another really special guest. You guys know her. You loved that episode. Actually, believe it or not, that episode did blow up. So her name is Cindy Steroy and she was on the episode turning travel into a profitable business, and that episode did really, really well. You guys loved how you know she took travel and made it into something that benefited her, her family and her friends. And today we need to talk about something else that I feel super honored to be a part of is this Puerto Rico retreat in September of 2025. Cindy, welcome back to Updated AF. It is so good to have you. You're my girl and I love you.
Speaker 3:Thank you so much, megan. You are amazing. Can I just say, before we get into this, how grateful I am to have met you and first of all, I love your podcast and so you're such a professional, but on top of that you're super fun and you're always looking for ways to promote business and women in business, so I appreciate who you are.
Speaker 1:Thank you, I love you so much. Coming from you, I'll take it. I don't know. I'm just and we know we talk offline, you and I and you already know how much I appreciate you, so you're amazing but let's, let's get into this. 2025 September and the boss beauty women's retreat.
Speaker 1:Let's talk about it because, all the listeners are going to have access to this information as well, so you guys might want to listen up if you're looking for something that is a little bit mixed self-care with entrepreneurship, with mental health. So everybody needs to listen up to this.
Speaker 3:Absolutely yes. Thank you so much. September 2025, ladies, specifically, whether you own a business, don't own a business. Listen, we, as women, are super women at heart. We are so busy taking care of ourselves, our families, the people around us. We are pillars in our community. You know, we check all the boxes, ladies, and so this Boss Beauty Women's Retreat is about giving back to yourself and to the community to yourself and to the community. So we are going to be relaxing, recreating and getting rejuvenated in Puerto Rico, san Juan, puerto Rico, next year.
Speaker 3:But a majority of the proceeds, as far as the actual retreat registration, is going to St Jude's Research Hospital, and so, for those of you who may not be familiar with St Jude's, just know that it is an amazing hospital that takes care of pediatric conditions in children, everything ranging from sickle cell to cancer.
Speaker 3:But on top of that, the most phenomenal thing that they do, on top of giving those treatments for free, is taking care of the families housing food, everything that those families need to have in order to focus on the medical care of their kids. So St Jude's is a very rare charity where you know a majority of what you're giving back is actually going to either the medical treatment or the care for families versus the overhead. So definitely do your research. You can Google them just to get a little sense of who St Jude's is. But we are super excited to use this time to refill the cups of you ladies while simultaneously raising money for st jude's. So that's pretty much the the bottom line of it.
Speaker 3:Um, and I definitely want to encourage, we have early registration happening right now early bird registration uh, I know megan's gonna include the link connected to this podcast, so we definitely want you guys to get in on the early bird rate. That is going to be good until December of this year and then, when the clock turns one January 2025, it'll go to the regular registration rate.
Speaker 1:So I hope that helps. It does it gives the gist of it and, like Cindy said, all of the links are going to be in the show notes and as well as a description of the retreat. Like we said, this is not only for women who need to go and get away for a little bit to refill their cup, but also I'm a big fan of St Jude's Children's Research Hospital only because I've been working with them Even since I was in high school. I was doing charities and also when I worked, I worked at Chili's. I was a server None of my listeners know this, but I was a server at Chili's for four years and Chili's, the restaurant, is also a really big fundraising restaurant.
Speaker 1:I don't know how to describe it. We used to raise money for St Jude's all the time and we before, back in the early 2000s, before technology we used to have to go to our you know our tables and our customers and ask if they would like to make a donation through us, and I mean I loved it. I was a huge cheerleader for St Jude's. I think what they're doing is an absolute blessing. So again, the money goes toward your registration fee, goes towards the St Jude's Research Hospital. And then let's talk about what the woman, or the entrepreneur or the boss beauty is getting out of this, because I've met some of the women that are going to be putting on these masterminds and classes. It's you guys. There's so much to this that we need to talk about and unpack, so let's talk about the women who are going to be putting on this event.
Speaker 3:Absolutely so. We have an amazing cadre of keynote speakers, guest speakers and panelists for this retreat. Megan is one of them, being an accomplished real estate mogul, a supermom, a veteran. Of course, we had to include her in the cadre of women who are going to be pouring into other women. We have women from all industries, to include medical, to include inspirational speaking, to include military lawyers, folks that are going to be talking and putting on workshops that, again, are going to reinvigorate the woman who's coming to this retreat.
Speaker 3:So, just to give you an example, you know we have this happening 5 through 9, september 2025. You're going to arrive that first day, on the Friday. You're going to pick up your swag bag. You're going to get an amazing makeup artist session and a professional headshot Because, again, we are putting on this retreat with a whole woman concept in mind. It is really holistic. So everything in terms of rejuvenating from the outside in and from the inside out is really the point. So we want everyone to have their own complimentary makeup session. You're also going to get a professional headshot and then, on top of that, you're going to get a complimentary, or what we call a vacation voucher that is courtesy of Storybook Vacation. So just the actual value of that free voucher is going to set you up for success for a vacation in the future. So every single registrant is going to get a free vacation. But then on top of that, of course, we've talked about how your actual contribution to St Jude's is included in that.
Speaker 3:So we are doing our best to max out that registration. Now, just so you all know, the hotel accommodations are not included. But what we were able to work out with the embassy suites there in San Juan, puerto Rico, is the travel agent rate. So for $239 a night that is per night, right you can split that cost with a roommate. So we're asking every Boss Beauty to bring a fellow Boss Beauty, right, no Boss Beauty left behind. And so that's one of the things we're really promoting is that if you're coming, bring five to 10 women with you, right, because we are on a mission to refill the cups of those of you who give back every single day. So you get a lot.
Speaker 3:As far as the listing of what all is included in your registration, that will also be listed out where the link for the registration will be, just so you have that up front, and then registering will also allow us to stay in contact with you from now until next September. So we're going to be rolling out an app about three months prior that will allow us to really build community with folks. You'll get a good sense of who the speakers are. You'll have access to their bios. You'll be able to do meetups. When you arrive that Friday, of course, you'll pick up your swag bag, like we talked about, but then, on top of that, we're going to have opportunities for you to do excursions. So all of Friday, most of Saturday, you'll also do excursions, um, or just chill in your hotel room. It really depends on you know what you're there to do, yeah.
Speaker 1:What do you need? What do you need to fill your cup?
Speaker 3:Yes, yes, absolutely, cause everyone's going to come. Some of you are going to arrive and you're going to be ready to go. You're going to be ready to get out there, get to the beach, going to arrive and you're going to be ready to go.
Speaker 1:You're going to be ready to get out there, get to the beach. I'm like, where's, where's the four wheelers? I just want to do something. Oh my gosh, that's what. That's what I would do. I would, I'd be ready to go.
Speaker 3:Exactly, exactly. And then some of you are just going to want to go to your hotel room and just sleep for a few hours, like you're finally in a quiet space far away from home, and all you're going to want to do is just really catch up on some Z's, and that's okay. We want you to be in this space where you feel free and you feel safe, right, because that's really the point. And so then we'll kick off the 6th, the Saturday night, with our opening speaker and also our vendor tables for our entrepreneurs who will be there. You'll get to meet them, network with them, and then the next morning, on Sunday, we'll have a full day of panels and workshops.
Speaker 3:We'll get to Monday, the 8th, where you can again relax, relate release, with more excursions, and then the 9th, which is the Tuesday, is our departure day. So we are super excited about all the Boss Beauties who are coming. Of course, connected to the link that Megan's going to include with the podcast, we'll also have a Boss Beauty Life at yahoocom where you can email any specific questions that you have, and I'll be answering those questions personally. So please message me, please If you have anything, recommendations, things you want to see, things you're excited about. I definitely want to hear from you.
Speaker 1:Now I know I already made this comment, but I feel so honored to be a part of this. But can you because I know you kind of touched on who's going to be there giving the masterminds a little bit Can we talk about maybe one or two of the girls, because these are powerhouse women and I and I'm going to, I'm going to see if we can have them on, excuse me, let's see if we can have them on the podcast so I can individually showcase them. But can we bring up like maybe one or two a little bit and talk about them?
Speaker 3:Absolutely Um so. So thank you for that. So we have a total of about 25 amazing women who are going to be pouring into you all, um. The first one I really want to talk about is Ms Rochelle Hemingway. Uh, she is a retired chief master sergeant of the air of the Air Force, coming out of Maryland, and she's amazing. She has a platform of her own. She's pouring into women every single day, between community service and a podcast that she also does for women in business. She's busy post-retirement, and so she is going to be one of our keynote speakers.
Speaker 3:Another individual who is also on the roster is Dr Carrie Ann Zamore. She is a college professor by trade, also a member of Alpha Kappa, alpha Sorority Incorporated, a member of Jack and Jill. She's on several boards, but on top of that, she is also a playwright. She's on several boards, but on top of that, she is also a playwright, so she puts on different dynamic plays throughout the year that really pour into people. It's definitely a special project. So she's a producer, she's a writer, but most of all, she's someone who will be pouring into women about time and about it being okay to say no, right, because some of us don't know how to do that, so she's going to Setting boundaries.
Speaker 3:Yeah, I'm all about it 100%, 100%. Another one of our panelists is Jessica Gabriel, a former broadcaster and woman of God. She is definitely someone whose story that you want to hear, so I believe she's also projected to be on the podcast too. Megan, I was going to say don't give it away.
Speaker 1:I mean, I already love her. Cindy has like hooked me up with very powerful women and Jessica was one of the women that sorry guys for listening, it's really early in the morning, but she's one of the women that I spoke to on the phone and 45 minutes later we're like, oh my gosh, we got to go. We were just like just just talking, her and I, and we realized, oh my gosh, it was. We were meant to meet. So because of Cindy and I don't know, I'm just super excited about her. So don't, don't give her stuff away yet, because she's she's definitely going to be on. And the fact that she's going to be at this retreat makes me feel like even more excited and I just I'm looking forward to it because I mean, being a single mom or a mom in general, it doesn't even matter. Like life's hard, it's really hard and nobody's filling our cups. I hate to say it, but I mean I know there's probably going to be a man listener out there that's like offended by this, but we're the primary parent, so I'm just throwing it out there. But and what I wanted to say is, we've talked about I've talked about on the podcast having a village, a lot of women in the world don't have villages.
Speaker 1:They're isolated or alone, whatever their situation is and I've also talked about a virtual village or what I say, quote unquote, buying your village. When I mean buying your village, it's for the woman out there who feels isolated. She's either an entrepreneur which being an entrepreneur is actually a very lonely path. It can be very isolating. I know that feeling. Or they're busy moms, or just even if you don't even have kids and you just own your own, you're running your own company and you just feel alone or isolated. You're not feeling like you're not being able to fill your own cup or nobody else around you, right?
Speaker 1:So buy the ticket to Puerto Rico, meet these powerhouse women, come away with new friends, a new community, and I'm a big believer on a virtual community too. I have friends all over the world that I jump on Zoom calls with and we have virtual happy hour and I know I'm not drinking alcohol right now, but so we've been doing mocktails, but that's okay too. If you need to buy a village, buy a ticket to Puerto Rico and come and just spend like three, four days and longer. If you need to do it longer, you do it longer, but I mean just so you can just have that village. We need to connect. At the end of the day, that's how we're going to fill our own cup is by filling each other's and connecting and growing together that way. So, stepping off my pedestal, I'm just big on like women coming together. Good things happen when strong, powerful, mentally healthy women come together.
Speaker 3:That's a good word right there, Megan. You could build a sermon off that right there.
Speaker 1:Can I get an amen on a Sunday morning? Amen, like I said you guys, it's early here, so if I sound like a little sleepy it's because I am. But I mean, I would, I would wake up at 3am for you, cindy, I would, I would literally record this podcast at 3am. But I, but I, I truly do believe that and you know that too. I mean, that was the whole point of this podcast is just connecting women, because good things happen when we come together and we fill each other's cup at the end of the day. So 100%.
Speaker 3:No, I, I appreciate you saying that, and the village concept is 100% on point. You know, women, we were made. We were created to commune right we were. We were created to collaborate. Nothing wrong with a little friendly competition, but certainly nothing that's going to tear us down. Right, we are all about building up and I appreciate your podcast so much and I appreciate your passion for bringing women together because it definitely makes a difference.
Speaker 3:I don't think we can have too many avenues to commune and collaborate, and that's why I'm excited about this retreat, because it's more than just getting away. Right, you're going to have your time to rejuvenate and relax, but the other part is about the refill right. Coming back to society, coming back to the day-to-day rigmarole, completely filled right, because by the time we get to Puerto Rico, we'll be empty, and that's just the nature of it, right. When we get to Puerto Rico, we'll be empty, and that's just the nature of it, right. So I'm excited about meeting every single person who is listening to this podcast this morning and I hope to see you in Puerto Rico in September of 2025.
Speaker 1:Absolutely Like I said, you guys, everything is going to be in the show notes and this is your opportunity.
Speaker 1:If you're one of those people that don't put themselves out there or have a hard time networking or don't know how to network, I mean this is the perfect opportunity for you to just network, and what I love about network networking events is going into them.
Speaker 1:I always walk away with something that I never knew, you know, cause you don't know what you don't know. And when I feel stuck or stagnant, I go to a networking event and I tell, I'm telling you like God will put somebody in my path to answer a question that I'm just like what do I do? Should I? You know, I feel stuck, I feel stagnant, I need, I need some more creative ideas. And I'm, and I'm telling you every time I go to a networking event, I feel like God works through somebody to give me the answer I've been looking for. I have walked away from every event knowing something that I didn't know prior, because everybody out there knows something that you don't know yet and if you're trying, you know whether it's business, whether it's motherhood, whether it's it doesn't matter what it is I. That's why I love these, these types of events. And now I'm super excited.
Speaker 3:Thank you, and thank you for allowing me to come on this morning. Can I talk?
Speaker 1:about one last speaker.
Speaker 3:I want to talk about all of them, girl, please.
Speaker 1:I mean, you know I'm all for it.
Speaker 3:Absolutely Well.
Speaker 3:I don't want to give this individual, I don't want to give away her story, but one of the reasons why we connected is because of her story.
Speaker 3:She is a survivor of both childhood and adulthood cancer and so, again, with St Jude's Research Hospital being the benefactor of this fundraiser, we definitely wanted to bring her in, not to just talk about what she went through, but to talk about life afterwards, right, and the path that she is forging for herself and other people. So, miss Tiffany, annette Hopkins is someone that I definitely want you all to meet, and I want her to meet you. So I could go on and on about the amazing women included in our keynote guest speaker and panel cadre, but I want you to meet them for yourselves. So, thank you, guys, so much for listening and again, reach out to us, boss Beauty Life at Yahoo If you have any questions, and we definitely want to remain accessible, that's the other thing, too is that you're not gonna be talking to a bot or a computer. I am going to be reading each and every one of your comments and also your emails, so please do not hesitate to message us.
Speaker 1:And it's gonna all be in the show notes, guys. So also, if you don't mind, I'm gonna put your social media links in there too, because sometimes it's just easier for people just to reach out via Instagram or Facebook. It's all going to be in there, so, and you guys can reach out to me. I'll connect you with Cindy. And yeah, and if you guys have any questions about the speakers, the program, it's all at the website, it's? You have a beautiful website. One of the boss beauties created the website and it's all the information's there, including what's going to be happening during the retreat and all that fun stuff. So thank you so much for coming on, cindy. I love you so much and, again, I feel so honored to be a part of this. You have no idea.
Speaker 3:So thank you. Thank you for blessing us, megan. Appreciate you so much, yes.
