Benjamin South

Benjamin South is a versatile crossover artist from Muscle Shoals, Alabama. Most recently, he performed as Charlie Dalrymple in Brigadoon and Teague in Higdon’s Cold Mountain as an Emerging Artist with the Seagle Festival. His other notable roles include Sam Polk in Susannah, Eddie Birdlace in Dogfight, Theodore Lawrence in Adamo’s Little Women, and Nemorino in The Elixir of Love. As a concert artist, Benjamin has enjoyed the tenor solos for Mozart’s Requiem, Handel’s Messiah, Dett’s The Chariot Jubilee, and several Bach cantatas. He is currently pursuing a D.M.A. in Performance & Pedagogy at the University of Colorado Boulder and a Vocology Certificate at New York University. He holds an M.M. in Voice Performance & Pedagogy from Ohio University and a B.M. in Voice Performance from the University of North Alabama.

Doug Grimm

Doug Grimm, described as a “handsome-voiced” baritone by Voix des Arts is a baritone in his second year of a master’s degree at Ohio University. A recent graduate of UNC – Greensboro with a dual degree in vocal performance and arts administration, Doug has worked in both theatrical and operatic stage productions for almost 16 years, most recently playing John Brooke in Mark Adamo’s Little Women. A passionate supporter of the arts, Doug is also the Executive Director of OperaLink, an arts nonprofit dedicated to the creation of curriculum and resources for all educators to teach and learn about opera. His foremost love is sharing the beauty and joy of opera with those around him and working towards creating and developing an American culture that values this beautiful art form. Doug is currently a student of Dr. Daniel Stein, a former student of Dr. Robert Bracey, and currently works with legendary coach Dr. Arlene Shrut.
