Emma Wadsworth-Jones
Emma Wadsworth-Jones was the Casework & Campaigns Manager at Humanists International from 2020 to 2025, where she led global efforts to support humanists at risk and defend freedom of thought and belief. As the organisation’s first dedicated casework lead, she coordinated emergency support, legal advocacy, and international campaigning for hundreds of non-religious people facing persecution, including the high-profile case of Mubarak Bala. She also served as principal editor of the Freedom of Thought Report, cited by governments and NGOs worldwide. Before joining Humanists International, Emma spent seven years at PEN International, where she developed strategies to protect writers at risk across Africa, the Americas, Asia, and the Middle East. Her work helped shape systematic frameworks for protecting humanists under threat and strengthened global advocacy for freedom of religion or belief.
