Adrián Núñez

Adrián Núñez is a Founding Member of the Peruvian Atheist Association (APERAT). A lifelong atheist, he has been actively involved in the secular movement in Peru for more than 15 years. He is also a former member of the Secular Humanist Society of Peru, which he left in 2023 to return to APERAT.


Adrián studied electronic engineering at the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru and currently works in software development. He has over 25 years of experience in projects related to recycling and environmental impact. 

He has also been part of a radio show dedicated to promoting critical thinking and debunking pseudoscience and paranormal beliefs, as well as a podcast focused on skepticism and rationality. 


Adrián is married, and the father of two daughters. He is currently part of the team leading a project to introduce and promote humanist ceremonies—such as non-religious weddings and funerals—within the Peruvian cultural context.

Alan Palmer

Alan Palmer is the former Chair of Central London Humanists and a long-serving member of its committee for over 17 years. A former trustee of Humanists UK and NHS Trust Director, Alan helped grow CLH into the UK’s most active humanist group and pioneered interfaith dialogue initiatives following the Protest the Pope campaign. His work spans ethical decision-making in healthcare, humanist community-building, and promoting respectful dialogue across worldviews.

Alavari Jeevathol (AJ)

AJ serves as a director and trustee of Humanists International. He is a founding trustee of the National Multifaith Youth Centre in the UK. He also serves as national coordinator of Young Humanists UK, and a committee member of Central London Humanists. His particular focus is on young humanists, on dialogue between faith and belief groups based on a shared humanistic spirituality, and on supporting non-religious people seeking asylum and refuge. He also strives to work on issues of ecological sustainability for future generations. AJ was born and raised in a Dravidian family, in south India, and is now based in London, UK.

Andrew Copson

Andrew Copson OBE has spent over two decades at the forefront of humanist leadership and human rights campaigning. Chief Executive of Humanists UK since 2010, he oversaw transformative growth in membership, education, and pastoral support, while serving simultaneously as President of Humanists International from 2015–2025. Anya Overmann

Anya Overmann is a writer, podcaster, and digital nomad whose work is rooted in human rights activism and progressive values. She collaborates with people and organisations that prioritise ethics, while using her platform to advocate for humanism, feminism, and sex-positive intersectionality. Bart Campolo

Bart Campolo (b. 1963) is an American humanist counselor, speaker, and podcaster. The son of evangelical leader Tony Campolo, Bart began his career in Christian ministry, co-founding the urban service program Mission Year and authoring Kingdom Works. Over time he transitioned from Christianity to secular humanism, a journey chronicled in his joint book with his father, Why I Left, Why I Stayed, and the documentary Leaving My Father’s Faith. In 2014, he became the first Humanist Chaplain at the University of Southern California, where he launched his Humanize Me! podcast and counseling practice, both aimed at helping people pursue meaning and connection in a secular framework. Now based in Cincinnati, Bart continues to write, counsel, and speak worldwide on humanism, community building, and the pursuit of goodness without God.

Bill Angus

Dr Bill Angus is a writer, academic and humanist based in Aotearoa New Zealand. He spent his early adult life chasing the rock’n’roll dream, touring and recording with top producers - Muse were his support band. Then he retrained in English literature, earning a PhD in Renaissance drama and publishing a string of acclaimed books on Shakespeare, informers and early modern culture.
After 25 years of university teaching in the UK and NZ, Bill now mostly just writes, both fiction and nonfiction. Bo Bennett

Clive Aruede

David Livingstone Smith

David Livingstone Smith, Ph.D., is Professor of Philosophy at the University of New England in Maine and an award-winning author of ten books. Emma Wadsworth-Jones

Emma Wadsworth-Jones was the Casework & Campaigns Manager at Humanists International from 2020 to 2025, where she led global efforts to support humanists at risk and defend freedom of thought and belief. As the organisation’s first dedicated casework lead, she coordinated emergency support, legal advocacy, and international campaigning for hundreds of non-religious people facing persecution, including the high-profile case of Mubarak Bala. Faith to Faithless is a non-profit organisation in the United Kingdom dedicated to confronting discrimination against non-religious people, in particular discrimination towards individuals who have left minority religions.

Faith to Faithless is Humanists UK’s support programme for people who have left high-control religious groups. These people are often called ‘apostates’.

James Ogude

Prof. James Ogude is one of the world’s leading authorities on Ubuntu, the African philosophical tradition that emphasises the interconnectedness of people with their social and natural environment. He is a Senior Research Fellow at the Centre for the Advancement of Scholarship at the University of Pretoria, where he served as Director until 2024. JC Candanedo

JC Candanedo is a queer, Catalan-Panamanian multidisciplinary artist based in London. 


He uses photography, mixed-media and performance to start conversations around issues of identity, migration and displacement. His practice is socially-engaged and his work tries to answer the question: how can we use the arts to promote social transformation?

Leo Igwe

Leo Igwe is a Nigerian human rights activist, humanist leader, and outspoken critic of harmful traditional practices. He founded the Humanist Association of Nigeria in 1990 and later launched Advocacy for Alleged Witches (AfAW), a campaign using compassion, reason, and science to protect people—often children—accused of witchcraft. Over decades of activism, Igwe has endured lawsuits, detention, and violent attacks by opponents of his work, yet continues to champion human rights, freedom of belief, and secular values across Africa. In 2020, he was appointed to the Board of Humanists International, further strengthening his global advocacy. Lindsay de Wal

Lori Marriott

Lori Marriott is the Coordinator of Humanist Climate Action, a volunteer-led network of Humanists UK members and supporters working to promote low-carbon, ethical, and sustainable living. Since 2021, she has led efforts to put humanist values into practice on environmental issues—bringing humanists together to campaign for evidence-based policies, challenge climate disinformation, and encourage greener lifestyles. Lucy Potter

Lucy Potter is a PhD student in the Department of Sociological Studies at the University of Sheffield, where her research examines the UK asylum system, focusing on cases submitted on grounds of non-religiosity. She previously completed a BA in Philosophy and an MA in Sociological Studies at Sheffield, with her dissertation exploring how ‘voluntourism’ can perpetuate neo-colonial power relations. Before beginning her PhD, Lucy worked as a Research Assistant for a third-sector organisation, contributing to projects on migration and human rights. Madeleine Goodall

Madeleine Goodall is the Humanist Heritage Coordinator for Humanists UK, which celebrated 125 years of existence in 2021. Since 2019, she has been researching the history and influence of the organisation and its members since its founding in 1896 as the Union of Ethical Societies, and building the Humanist Heritage website to share this little known heritage. Madeleine is also Humanists UK’s Wikimedian in Residence, advocating for the improvement and diversification of Wikipedia. Prior to undertaking the Humanist Heritage project, Madeleine worked in schools, for the Wordsworth Trust in Cumbria, and on a National Lottery Heritage funded project in Norfolk.

Maggie Ardiente

Maggie Ardiente is an American humanist leader, non-profit executive and advocate at the intersection of secularism, social justice and civil rights. In 2025 she was elected President of Humanists International, becoming the first woman of colour to lead the organisation.  

Maggie served for 12 years as Director of Development & Comms at the American Humanist Association where she helped organise the landmark 2012 Reason Rally and edited for TheHumanist.com. 
She later joined PFLAG National as VP of Development bringing her fundraising and advocacy skills to LGBTQ+ rights work.

Martin Di Maggio

Martin Di Maggio is a community development worker and sociolinguist specialising in LGBTI+ rights, neurodiversity, and religious literacy. He delivers training for public sector organisations and has worked with the CPS to improve police responses to hate crime against marginalised groups. A member of the Society for Humanistic Judaism, Martin grew up in Hereford and Worcester in a mixed British-Italian-Albanian family. Michael Bauer

Michael Bauer, is the President and Treasurer of the Humanistische Vereinigung, Germany’s leading humanist organisation with a history dating back to 1848. Under his leadership, the organisation reaches and supports 30,000 persons a year, among them some thousand members, and operates schools, kindergartens, refugee support programs, social services, popular scientific exhibitions — all based on humanist values.

Monica Belițoiu

Monica Belițoiu is the Executive Director of the Romanian Secular-Humanist Association (ASUR), where she leads efforts to promote secularism, critical thinking, and human rights in one of Europe’s most religious societies. A lifelong advocate for freedom of thought, Monica has contributed to Humanists International’s Freedom of Thought Report, highlighting the challenges faced by non-religious people in Romania. Morgan DeNicola

Nathan Stilwell

Nathan Stilwell is Humanists UK’s Assisted Dying Campaign Coordinator. 

Nathan has been instrumental in advocating for this campaign, bringing both his passion for the cause and extensive background in political communications. He is a long-standing advocate of the right to die, and a published critic of the UK’s current legal regime.
