Speaker 1:

This is the Good Neighbor podcast, the place where local businesses and neighbors come together. Here's your host, Jim Schaller.

Speaker 2:

I'm Good Neighbors to episode number 30 of the Good Neighbor podcast, the Stero. Today we have Good Neighbor Angela Campbell from Liquavita. Angela welcome.

Speaker 3:

Hi Jim, how are you this morning?

Speaker 2:

I am awesome. It's a great day, the sun's out, can't complain.

Speaker 3:

I know right, Exactly.

Speaker 2:

So why don't we just jump right in and why don't we start by sharing a little bit about Liquavita?

Speaker 3:

So Liquavita is a health and wellness center here. We are located on 41 here in Naples. Liquavita is sort of what I would consider a one-stop shop. We do lots of great things here for health and wellness and beauty. So we do medical aesthetics, so Botox, fillers and sports. We also do just facial aesthetics, so we do micro needling and diamond glow facials, microgenmobrasion, those types of things, as well as IVs. We have a full line of vitamin IV therapy as well as peptides that include the weight loss peptides that are out there semi-gluteide, intrus epitide, as well as some other peptides like Tessa Morlin and CJC, some of the ones that help with muscle building, as well as hormone replacement, so testosterone for males and of course, for females. We have a line of hormone replacement for them as well. So we do lots of things here.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, the full gamut. That's more than I thought, very, very nice. So how did you get involved with this industry to start with?

Speaker 3:

Well, my early 40s really struggled with being tired, struggling with just getting older and was like I didn't feel great in my skin. I felt tired. I felt I saw a lot of wrinkles. I was just struggling. So I started, honestly, I started with vitamin IV therapy and I found it worked. I started feeling like I had a little bit more energy. Now, trust me, I'm not saying I'm bouncing off the walls with energy, but I felt more energy than I had.

Speaker 3:

I found myself sick less. We do some high dose vitamin C here and I was doing it back then as well. I found myself sick less as a mom. I was sick all the time. My son was five at the time so he was bringing home all kinds of great germs from school, so I feel like I was sick on a monthly basis. So I was sick all the time. But as I started doing vitamin IV therapy with vitamin B and vitamin C and certain muscle recovery nutrients that were able to be added to my bag, I just felt better. Then I started with Botox and fillers and just trying to do some different things that just take the effects of aging away. Now, obviously there's always going to be some, but I started to look a little bit better and I felt a little bit better. And then I was like, hmm, you know, I wanted to be able to. There's something here. And then I was like, well, I would love to be able to bring this to the masses.

Speaker 3:

So it just started and never five years ago did I think what I was doing then was going to turn into this, but I really wanted to be able to bring it to the masses. Once COVID hit, I was like God, this really is terrible, especially in the Northeast and from Pennsylvania. So we were shut down and it was terrible. I had a child home from school and it was terrible and I was like, oh my God, this can't be it. So then I was like I want to start my own business and tripped onto like a Vita. It's a franchise. So I tripped onto like a Vita and I'm like well, this lines up with what I've been doing and it's working for me. So let me figure out how I can do it. And that's how I landed here.

Speaker 2:

Wow, that's quite a story, and it is all about feeling better, both physically, mentally, so it's a great thing. Now, are there any things that are, maybe, I would say, trending in the industry?

Speaker 3:

Definitely there's always things trending, especially in this industry, which I think is great, which is the great thing about it, because it's constantly evolving and growing. You know, for me, I think some of the things that are trending right now are the peptides, or weight loss peptides, semi-gluteide, intrus appetite it's all the range right now and I think because it is a way of losing weight quicker. I also feel like it's a way of losing weight where it stays off of you. You're really enduring those time periods, kind of retraining how you're eating and what you're doing, you know, in terms of what you're putting into your body. So I think that it's something that really works to take the weight off but also helps you keep it off. So I think that's probably one of the biggest trends we have right now.

Speaker 3:

And then NAD is also a big trend right now, which is a coenzyme. It's an IV drip and it's a coenzyme that we tend to make a little bit less of as we get older. And one of the main things that I've seen come out of it and I've also been doing NAD for a long time is brain fog. So it helps clear brain fog. So as we get older and you're like, oh, where did I leave my keys? And you might remember, two weeks later, with NAD.

Speaker 3:

I will say it's. One of the things that I found is that I can really remember where I left my keys when I left them, so it really is a great. Those are probably the two things that I think are trending right now, probably in a really good direction.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, and you mentioned the brain fog and I guess that is part of getting older. But yeah, every once in a while you just kind of get in a little fog and you just need a little help to get out of it.

Speaker 3:

You really do, you really do.

Speaker 2:

So are there any myths, or maybe misconceptions, about the industry, the wellness industry, that most people, that we could probably bust for some of these people?

Speaker 3:

Yeah, I mean I think that for me what's important about places like ours is that we're functional and preventative. I think our healthcare system is truly broken. I think it's sick care you go when you're feeling sick and they treat your symptoms and they may get it right, they may not, and then you leave. With what we do, you can kind of get ahead of that instead of waiting until you're sick. It's preventative and I know that's really a misnomer for most, because we've been so trained in how our healthcare system is in the US. We've been so trained and it's been this way forever and it's like well, what do you mean?

Speaker 3:

Why would you go do something before you get sick or before you need it, when, in actuality, if you can prevent some things and kind of get ahead of it, you really can get ahead of some things. You can keep yourself from getting sick. I'm not saying we can cure cancer, but we definitely can kind of get ahead of some things and help you not feel as bad, certainly help you look better, and I think sometimes when you look better you feel better. Obviously life's a little bit different. So I think for me, just knowing that I can get ahead of it versus waiting for it to happen is probably one of the biggest myths, because our healthcare system is not the only way. There are ways to do it differently.

Speaker 2:

I agree. I agree with that, and it is kind of like you mentioned, a preventative maintenance kind of thing. You do it with your car. You get your oil changed so the car continues to run smoothly. You don't get a change because it's running badly or you get it to maintain it. So much like your body, you need to take care of it on a regular basis. Are there, is there maybe something that a challenge or a hardship maybe that you went through? That kind of brought you or defined you and brought you where you are today? I know you mentioned COVID, but is there something else that maybe you struggled with?

Speaker 3:

Yeah, I mean, I think, as I look back, I didn't have it easy growing up and I think it made me drive a little bit harder work a little bit harder.

Speaker 3:

I wanted something different, I wanted to be successful. So I think that was definitely a driver. Covid was absolutely the push to this.

Speaker 3:

I think the struggle with COVID I really struggled with depression through COVID Part of that depression is kind of feeling not safe and some of that's coming out of my earlier life and my childhood and I think that you know, with COVID kind of coming in and just kind of seeing, you know, like I said, I was in Pittsburgh, pennsylvania, for COVID, so we were shut down. It wasn't Florida, we were shut down and we were shut down for a year and a half. So I think that awareness of just maybe things weren't okay and weren't going to be okay and when were we ever gonna get out of it Really set me into a depression. And I think with my son too my son was in second grade when COVID hit. So in second and third grade, having him home and kind of watching what the kids, our kids, were going through, what our teachers were going through and just in general I mean working from home, life completely upended and was something completely different. So for me I think that COVID was probably the catalyst for me to say, I don't know how much longer I've got here, but I'm going to make the best out of what I've got left and I wanna make a difference, not just in my life but in others, and I saw so many people and how hard it hit.

Speaker 3:

Covid hit us. I was one of many and to watch that around me, I was like there has to be a different way. So, for me, covid was probably the final catalyst for me, but definitely I mean it was. You know I've always had a drive to be successful and to do something different and you know that came from. There's a very different life I have today than I had back then, and so for me, it was a lot of things, but COVID was probably the trigger. The plan was always to retire somewhere where it was warmer. So, as I'm entering that second stage of my life, just, you know, naples made sense and it has been nothing but a welcoming community for us and we're so excited to be here. And you know our first year we just opened our doors in December of last year so in December of 2022, and honestly, it has been, you know, for a new business, and we've. Of course, it can always be better right In year one, but this community has been nothing but welcoming and we've been so fortunate.

Speaker 2:

And that's great. That's great. It is a lovely area down here and that's why we live here. So I know you work a lot, but what do you do outside of work to enjoy the Southwest Florida area?

Speaker 3:

So I have an 11 year old son, so I spend a lot of time with him. You know, outside of work we're doing homework and doing mom son things. You know he's busy he's got Chuchitsu and he does flag football and you know he's busy being a kid. And I think that's the great thing about having this business too, is I can be a mom versus the corporate rat race I was in before. So, yeah, so I spent a lot of time with him. But I love being outside, I love long walks, I love just spending time in the sunshine by the pool, kind of just lounging and doing as little as possible when I can, that's it, that's it and that's why we live down here.

Speaker 2:

James. You get outside and enjoy the weather, and just being able to be outside it just puts a smile on everybody's face.

Speaker 3:

I agree.

Speaker 2:

So are there any other things, any last things that you'd like to share with our listeners about Liquavita that they should know?

Speaker 3:

No, I mean, I think you know, stop in and see us. You know, I think that you know we have a really welcoming staff here. There's a lot of great things that we can do for you and with you. And I think, listen, if you're feeling at all in a way where you're like I don't like this or I don't like that, you're probably beautiful just the way that you are, male or female, but sometimes when you don't like what you see in the mirror, it just takes a little bit of something and I think that we can help give that something. So I think, stop in and see us, ask for me. I'm here a lot, I'm here as much as possible. So as long as I'm not picking my son up or taking him somewhere, I'm here and I'd love to meet you. Like, stop in and just say hi. So yeah, so honestly, I think, just the type of business that we're in, it's really truly welcoming. It's great vibe, it's a new building and we just love it.

Speaker 2:

And that's great. It is about making people feel better about themselves. So how would they do you have a phone number address that you'd like to share?

Speaker 3:

We do so. Our phone number is 239-422-6410. And then we're located on 41. So our address is 9655 Tamiyami Trail North. We're in Naples Park. We're at the corner of 97th and 41.

Speaker 2:

Perfect, perfect. Angela, it's been a pleasure getting to know you and welcome to the community down here and glad you're part of it and we will see you soon okay.

Speaker 3:
