Drop the baggage, drop the stress.

In this soothing episode, Ume guides you through a powerful meditation to heal strained relationships and release negativity. Find a quiet space where you won't be disturbed, sit comfortably, and let your worries melt away.

Start by taking a deep breath, holding it, and slowly exhaling. Feel your body relax as we journey together to find peace and release emotional baggage.

Reflect on the pain caused by a family member, and explore how holding onto this hurt affects you. Understand that while they hurt you once, holding onto the pain only causes repeated suffering.

Visualize setting down a heavy backpack filled with past hurts and disappointments. Now, feel the immediate relief and lightness that comes from releasing this burden. You are now lighter, freer, and more at ease.

Picture that person as a vulnerable child, understanding that they, too, carry their own struggles. This perspective doesn't excuse their actions but helps release the burden.

Visualize a warm light of peace growing within you and radiating towards the person who caused you pain. This act is not for them but for your peace and freedom. You are in control, choosing peace over pain.

Finish the meditation feeling lighter, stronger, and free. You are now empowered and ready to face the day, carrying this feeling of peace with you.

Meditation to Heal Strained Relationships & Let Go of Negativity

Drop the baggage, drop the stress.

Find a quiet space where you won’t be disturbed. Sit comfortably, close your eyes, and take a deep breath in… Hold it… Now slowly exhale. Let your body relax. This is your time to release, heal, and find peace.

[*] Breathe deeply… hold it for a moment… and let it go. Feel your shoulders drop, your jaw relax, and your heart slow down.

Now, think about that one family member who brings stress into your life. Maybe it’s a parent, a sibling, an in-law, or a cousin. Picture their face. Notice what emotions come up - frustration? Anger? Hurt? That’s okay. Don’t fight it—just observe.

[*] Think about a time when someone in your family hurt you. Maybe they insulted you in front of others, dismissed your feelings, or betrayed your trust. It could have happened years ago, but somehow, it still lingers.

Have you ever noticed how we replay these painful moments in our minds? Over and over, we relive the hurt, the anger, the unfairness of it all. We bring it into our present, letting it shape how we see that person—and even how we see ourselves.

But here’s the hard truth: they hurt us once, but we hurt ourselves a thousand times by holding onto it.

Imagine this: Someone throws a stone at you. It stings, it leaves a mark, and you feel the pain. But instead of moving forward, you pick up that same stone and carry it everywhere. You clutch it so tightly that your own hands start bleeding.

The person who threw the stone moved on, but you are still carrying the pain.

[*] Now, imagine you’re carrying a heavy backpack filled with all your negative experiences with this person - old arguments, disappointments, the things they said or did that hurt you. It’s heavy. You’ve been carrying this weight for far too long.

Take a deep breath in… and as you exhale, imagine setting that backpack down. Just drop it.

Feel the relief. Feel how much lighter you are. You don’t have to carry it anymore.

[*] Now, picture that person as a child before life hardened them. Before they carried their pain. Can you see them? Vulnerable, just like you once were?

They may have hurt you, but deep down, they are also carrying their own struggles and wounds. Maybe they never learned how to express love. Maybe they were treated the same way they treated you. Maybe they’re still trapped in their own pain.

That doesn’t excuse their actions, but it helps us understand.

Now, whisper in your heart:

  • I choose to let go of this pain. I release this burden. I free myself.
  • I don’t need to carry this anymore. I deserve peace.

[*] Now, imagine a warm light glowing in your heart. This light is peace, strength, and freedom. Let it grow, filling your body, filling your mind.

Now, imagine sending this light toward the person you’ve been thinking about—not because they deserve it, not because you agree with them, but because you deserve peace.

Let that light dissolve the anger, the grudges, and the negativity.

If you’re ready, say in your heart: I set myself free from this pain. I release you. I release myself. I choose peace.

[*] Take one final deep breath in… and exhale slowly. Feel how much lighter you are. The weight is gone.

Whenever negativity creeps in again, remember—you don’t have to pick up that heavy backpack again. Leave it where it is.

You are free. You are in control. You choose peace.

(When you’re ready, slowly bring yourself back. Wiggle your fingers and toes. Feel the ground beneath you. And when you’re ready, open your eyes.)

You are lighter. You are stronger. You are free.
